I had a guy come in with an abscess. Suggested a root canal and he wanted the treatment done. I went to anesthetize the site and as soon as the needle went in, pus SHOT all the way up my forearm, on my instruments, and all the way to the wall. I was so horrified I couldn’t even do anything. I stood up and, holding my arm out like a robot, walked to the bathroom and scrubbed up to my shoulder for like five minutes. My assistant had to tell the patient that I’d be right back because I couldn’t speak. I went back to the room and finished my job. It was gross. Another time we had a lady in for denture impressions. She had rampant gum disease which made the whole room stink like you can’t believe. My assistant couldn’t get the impression tray out of the patient’s mouth because all of the bone loss. I went in to remove it and pulled out two teeth with the tray. I was super gross. The smell was indescribably bad. The next day at work my assistant told me she went home and had pizza for dinner but she couldn’t eat. The smell was still stuck in her nose! She ended up throwing her pizza down and just crying. Soooooo gross EDIT: I forgot to add this one. I was doing an extraction on a real yuckmouth patient and things were getting rough. I put a bit more pressure on the tooth and it just snapped! Well, when it snapped, a piece of the diseased gum tissue that was stuck on that part of the tooth flew out of the mouth. I looked up and saw, to my assistant’s horror, that this diseased and bloody piece of human being was stuck in her hair. That cracked me up because she made fun of me for years for the pus-tooth guy and now she got a taste of it. :)

Everyone is kind and fast. No problems.
