He was super nice and helpful

My first trip to Smiles dentistry left me feeling like my previous dentist had been ripping me off. Smiles was going to fix every issue I had with my teeth for just over 4k. My dentist was charging me 4K for a root canal and cap. The Smiles estimate may as well been $100,000. In 2017 I was slammed into be an 18 wheeler in Dallas Texas and have been unable to work for a little over two years. (I was fortunat to work a short time as a security guard until I had to give it up due to my Mothers illness that requires me to take care of her most of the day) Since then I have gone through all my savings and am selling things to survive. I wound up on state insurance that the good people of Nevada are paying for. It makes me sick. Unfortunately that's where I find myself today. Then walks in Dr Mcgruder. My front tooth has just snapped off and this poor guy has been assigned my case. While waiting to see the Dr. I thought to myself this guy is a Sports nut and well have alot in common. In Dr Mcgruder s defense the insurance I have with the state forces him to basically give away his services. When the Dr entered the room i was not expecting this guy. Most people have not had there front tooth snap off. This is a very terrifying scenario. No money, state insurance and a guy telling me after a few weeks of waiting to hear back from my insurance with a green light to yank the rest of my front tooth out of my head. It would then take another eight months for the gum to heal. At that time and only then would they submit the paperwork nessasary to add a tooth to my partial. I'm in the chair thinking to myself maybe he has me mistaken for someone else. Anyway I'm wondering what am I going to do about this tooth. Dr" your going to suffer as long as possible" was quickly falling off my options list. I could just imagine the extraction. No novocaine and rusty pliers. Then out of nowhere .He says something to this affect. For an additional $700 we have an immediate procedure or fast track. This guy is my only option and I'm thinking my laser printer is worth x and maybe I can come up with this money. I'm missing my front tooth that I have never been without. These are desperate times. The good Dr goes on to explain how this works. I guess the $700 shortens the healing process from eight months to just a couple of weeks. That's what I'm thinking anyway. As this character leaves his really cool dentist room decorated in every sport and athlete you can imagine. Which by the way I never had a chance to compliment him on. I am still trying to process the whole chain of events that's happening. As strange a dentist appointment that this has been. It turns really wierd when I ask the hygenist or assistant how long this will take? She has not said one word this whole time. Then she says I'll go check with the folks who make the Dentures. About ten minutes later she comes in with this guy looking like he has just layed into her. I'm still thinking he has me mistaken for someone who did something so wrong that he would act like this. Dr's, Dentist, nurses for the most part have always been these serious people. Not this guy. The next words out of his mouth are. "Its going to cost you another $300. This is all new territory for me. All I can come up with was I guess I'll go somewhere else. I was not about to ask him why or how long I just unhooked myself and said I appreciate your time. Thank you very much. There is more to the story but I think I've said enough and am expecting to see this guy on my porch tomorrow. I will never forget this guy and I'm sure hes probably a good Dentist. For me I see no upside in making another appointment just to satisfy my curiosity but if you do maybe you can find out what happened that day and post it here.
