I went in for a routine cleaning a few months back and was told I needed two crowns on my molars due due a crack in one tooth and old fillings. I was shocked since I haven’t even had a cavity since I was a kid. I was quoted $1,100 for the two crowns. Came back a few days later to get the temp crowns on and was charged $1,400. When I asked about the price difference, they told me that the previous quote was for metal crowns and the new price is for porcelain. Umm shouldn’t you have told me that before? I think so. Anyways it was too late to back down so I proceeded with the temps. My teeth were throbbing that day and have been ever since. 2 weeks after and I had to take ibuprofen a few times a day to ease the pain. Everything hurts those two teeth. I did go back to the dentist to have them check out the temps and they couldn’t see anything that would be causing the pain. She wrote me a script for an antibiotic but it didn’t help. Now I will most likely have to pay another $1,000-2,000 for root canals to try to make the pain go away. I feel the dentist drilled too much of my tooth and the nerves are exposed. Funny how a routine cleaning turns into $4,000 worth of treatment. Will not be returning. I had to go to another dentist to fix the pain. They said I never needed crowns in the first place. Great.
