Dr. Robert Eugene Chenoweth

I found Dr Chenoweth a very caring dentist. He listens and cares for his patients. He takes time when he is checking his patients after cleaning. Does not rush in and out.

Sorry for the length but this really frustrates me. I recently moved to Fort Wayne and needed a couple cavities in 2 wisdom teeth to deal with. Summit (Dr. Chenoweth) recommended to fix the 2 teeth rather than pulling them. I had food getting trapped between the wisdom and molar so I was thinking about pulling them. They used clamps on my molars and wisdoms to create separation to fill the cavities and get a tight fit. Unknown to me was that they cracked my molar tooth. Even though they got a tight fit, teeth move and after a short while, the fit was not tight and food got caught again. A few days later, I noticed some and interfering bite and they ground down the top of one of my wisdom teeth. 2 weeks later, I noticed that a back tooth was making too much contact and I thought it was the other wisdom. I went back to see them (different dentist at Summit this time) and they said it’s the molar next to the wisdom tooth that they repaired so “it’s not our tooth”. They did not take off the high points even though they saw them!!! It seemed strange to me that it took 2 weeks before I noticed the interfering bite. I took a trip and went to my previous dentist about a month later. By that time, I had a bump on the gum near the interfering molar. He checked it briefly and said he was sure the molar was cracked and showed me past Xrays showing it was not his work. Once a tooth is cracked to the bottom, the tissue dies between the roots and the body tries to push the tooth out. That’s why I had an interfering bite 2 weeks after Summit repaired my wisdom teeth. The bump was my body’s immune system fighting off infections since my gums didn’t want to stick to that molar anymore. I think Summit Dental knew that they cracked my molar when I went to see them 2 weeks later but they did not want to tell me. My previous dentist tells me I need an implant now which will cost me 2 to 3 thousand dollars with insurance. Summit did not want to take responsibility for that. I do not recommend anyone to see them. They should value the customer above anything else. I think a dentist knows that teeth move when under a tight fit. Why risk using clamps to get a tight fit when this would not last? Were they thinking I would have more problems with the wisdom and molars since food still was getting stuck and I would need to get more work done? In any case, I have lost all trust in those dentists.
