Erek Latzka, MD, RMSK, is dual board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. He manages acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, and offers non-operative alternatives to orthopedic surgery. His clinical interests include diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound (same day results without waiting for an MRI), orthobiologic injections such as platelet rich plasma (PRP), and ultrasound guided procedures (such as ultrasound guided carpal tunnel & trigger finger releases, and tenotomy with ultrasound guided using the Tenex device. He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. For his PM&R residency, he attended the University of Washington, considered the field’s top residency in the U.S. He remained in Seattle for his non-operative sports medicine fellowship at Swedish Medical Center, followed by 5 years as an attending physician and clinical assistant professor with the University of Washington. There, he directed the diagnostic
ultrasound curriculum for their sports medicine fellowships, and in 2022 received the department’s outstanding teacher award. In his career, he has provided medical care for the Seattle Dragons (XFL), UW athletics, Seattle University Athletics, the Seattle Reign (NWSL), the Seattle Storm (WNBA), the Seattle Marathon, the Seattle Slam Quad Rugby Club, and the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. In doing so he has worked with athletes of all levels, from middle school to professional. Dr. Latzka has published in numerous journals and textbooks, with a particular focus on ultrasound guided carpal tunnel release, ultrasound guided trigger finger release, orthobiologics, sports biomechanics, diagnostic ultrasound, and injuries of the hand & fingers. He has presented posters, research and lectures to national audiences, covering topics such as injuries of wrist, hand, and fingers, rock climbing sports medicine, skiing & snowboarding sports medicine, and various US guided procedures.
