Dr. Justin Charles Ponquinette, MD

Seriously top notch. I have been through hell with oral surgery… so I was nervous when I had to get two cracked teeth extracted (from another surgeon years back). I ended up getting left and right sided extractions and implants with an infection awash out all in one shot…. Woke up day 2 like nothing happened. Dr. Ponquinette, his wife and staff are the most compassionate and skilled staff I’ve come across. Not only do they make you feel like family, they take excellent care of you. Well worth the money and truly appreciate the holistic approach (which I questioned at first). A+, can only recommend two other people in the area and he is number 1. Thank you!!

This was my first implant and I was very concerned. Dr. Ponquinette and his staff were wonderful! The extraction went very smoothly, as did the implant. I highly recomend Dr. Ponquinette.

Meetinghouse Dental Services referred me to Atlantic Oral Surgery in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. I was looking for an oral surgeon to extract my infected root canals. They mentioned Dr. Ponquinette and the receptionist said they refer all of their tooth extractions to him. I am sure they probably get paid for referring him because he was absolutely awful. When I arrived at his office no one was at the front desk and they never answer the phone when you call. He approached me at the front desk after I was waiting there for about 5–10 minutes. He was not friendly or courteous at all he just asked for my paperwork and copies of my X-rays. I went to the exam room and waited quite awhile as he looked over my X-rays in another room somewhere. He finally appeared in the examination room and spoke to me with his arms crossed sitting in a chair scolding me about not having moldings done by my referring dentist before arriving at his office. His tone was very aggressive, argumentative and confrontational towards me and I just didn’t understand why he was so arrogant. He also did not like the fact that I was not interested in dental implants at this time. I explained to him that I wanted to give my gums a chance to heal after having an infection for so long. I told him I understood after multiple extractions I wouldn’t be able to eat solid foods. I explained that I didn’t want to stress my gums with implants and, if needed, partial dentures would be a temporary solution for me. He was so argumentative that I had considered getting out of the chair and walking out immediately. He just did not like the fact that I didn’t want dental implants at this time. When he finally left the office he didn’t say goodbye or it was nice meeting you or the normal courtesies that other business professionals usually say to a new patient. He said to wait in the office and he would send in his wife, Maria to speak with me. She said she had a few of her teeth removed before and it was perfectly normal for someone to wait several months before deciding on implants etc. She said it was a good idea to give the gums a chance to heal especially since I had an infection for so long. She said it is a personal choice that a patient makes and it’s up to them. She also showed me her dental implants that were not done by her husband at Atlantic Oral Surgery. She said Dr. Phillip Mollica did her ceramic dental implants. I don’t know if this is true but most people would say their husband did the work. Why didn’t she use her husband? He kept pressuring me about dental implants and yet his wife went to another dentist for her implants. Wow! Also, when I met the front desk staff they wanted a copy of my driver’s license for verification I told them I didn’t have it with me. I asked Maria about this since I wasn’t using insurance and I would have been paying in full before surgery. She told me they had a problem in the past with identity theft, where a black female patient came into the office using a white female patient’s insurance card. She also told me in the past a female patient gave them incorrect personal information. The patient had work done on a payment plan and the address where the bills where mailed was incorrect. She told me they tried to sue but since they did not have her correct information they could not proceed with the lawsuit and they lost money. I told her I didn’t understand how this relates to me since I was paying in full before surgery, no payments and no insurance hassles. She said it’s just their policy. That explains why Justin was so rude to me; he probably thinks all minorities are con artists. When I left his office I noticed it was filled with elderly white people. This is his clientele and they were most likely referred to him by Meetinghouse Dental for a kickback. I called Meetinghouse Dental and told them about how awful this dentist was and they seemed a little frustrated and wanted to know my name so someone could call me back. I told them it was not necessary (I know they just wanted to tell him who complained) I mentioned they should be cautious about referrals. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone unless you enjoy being berated; his own wife had her implants done somewhere else. He was very hostile and frowning the entire time and I’m sure he wouldn’t speak to his elderly patients that way. When I mentioned the problems that some people said they experienced with dental implants he said I shouldn’t believe any reviews. So therefore, I do not believe any positive reviews written about him. It was a total waste of time.

Everyone in the office was amazing! I had to take my 86 year old mother (with a Parkinsonian disorder) for two extractions and other less-invasive 'cleanout work'. The office staff and Dr. Ponquinette were terrific, from booking the consult until post-surgery. They were kind, thorough and professional. Dr. P. spent so much time in the initial appointment, as if he had all the time in the world, and answered all our questions. I would highly recommend this Doctor and his staff!

Best Dentist I've ever been to. Made me feel at ease when having to get my teeth pulled. Very professional and takes the time to answer all questions/concerns.

He's patient, caring, and very knowledgeable. He explains the procedure in depth, once he's done answering all your questions you feel at ease and reassured that you are in the best capable hands.

My son recently had his wisdom teeth pulled by Dr. Ponquinette. I was not thrilled with his practice or his bedside manor. I was given an appointment time of 8:30 am to fine out the surgery wasn't even scheduled. They gave me a new time of 11:00 am and just as we were getting ready to walk out the door I got a call that the Dr. was running an hour late. After the surgery the Dr. Never even came into recovery to discuss how everything went. His assistants and/or the Dr. did not explain the entire home care. They were all too busy trying to run outvthe door for lunch. No one discussed about things to look out for such as dry socket or how to prevent dry socket, etc. My son was told he would stop bleeding when he got home. I called the office at 4:35 pm because he was still bleeding and PS No One even called to check up on my son the following day to see how he was doing! I would Never recommend this Dr.

Dr. P is wonderful! Pleasant, compassionate, and fast. He is second to none!

I was extremely nervous about my extractions! Thankfully I was explained everything that was going to happen beforehand and was put at ease. And I'm glad to say the surgery went very well.

Never thought I would write this, but I just had fun taking out my wisdom teeth. Dr. P is the man! I hate when doctors are snobby and he is anything but. He was laid back and funny. The man broke the surgery down for me, told me exactly what to expect and he was right. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of dental surgery.

I hate dentists. Having had bad experiences in the past, I was scared out of my mind at the idea of having extractions and implants. I have to say that Dr. P put me at ease right away with his patience and humor. On top of this, he was extremely informative. I was sold after consulting with him and the surgery he performed was painless. While I hope to never need more dental surgery, if I do, it will only be with Dr. P.

Very rude doctor. In a rush to get you out of the room. Not informative at all . Talking down to you.

I was having some pain over the weekend and called the office number. The emergency voice mail went to Dr. Ponquinette's cell phone and after leaving a message, he returned my call promptly and then met me at the office. He took care of me with a very clam and caring manner. I would recommend Dr. Ponquinette to anyone.

I came to the office in excruciating pain, the staff was friendly and able to get me in the same day I called. I met the Doctor who helped me feel comfortable and at ease. He extracted my tooth and healed my pain. I was very thankful and would recommend this office to anyone.

Dr Ponquinette did not even look at my chart before coming into office. Very unprofessional and arrogant when talking to me. Sarcastic and very full of himself. Slouched down and made me feel uncomfortable. Would not recommend to anyone for oral surgery.
