Dr. Adam J Cohen, MD

I went to Dr. Adam Cohen (same guy but in the Chicagoland area) for an upper blepharoplasty at the recommendation of my long-time ophthalmologist. Cohen also told me I needed a lower bleph. I now have had three surgeries with Cohen and have gone to a corrective ocular plastic surgeon who said I was totally BOTCHED. My left eyelid doesn't close all the way, my right eyebrow is completely desensitized and I was told that Cohen likely cut a nerve--the eyelid is still too heavy, and after two surgeries to my lower lids, they're worse than the first time I walked through Dr. Adam Cohen's doors. My quote for corrective surgery well exceeds the the five-figure investment with Cohen. FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR!

Dr. Cohen has completely destroyed my eyes. I've consulted with 4 different oculoplastic and cosmetic surgeons and they have all agreed that my eyes are irreversibly damaged and there's no going back. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars to find a fix for a hosts of issues that he caused. I traveled to South Korea to try to have some of the problems fixed. I grew up being considered very attractive with beautiful eyes and now I look like a small-eyed alien. Thanks to him for destroying my confidence, self-esteem, causing depression, and suicidal thoughts. I hate this guy with every inch of my being. I'm currently talking to a couple of lawyers to file a lawsuit against him. Whatever new review posts that go up on yelp, google reviews, regarding eye surgeries with him, I believe, are all fake. Please read all the reviews you can find about him.

Dr. Cohen is amazing. He is honest and transparent. I love his bedside manner- he's like talking to an old friend. His office is comfortable and clean. His staff is incredible- They are like a family, and you feel like a member of that family as soon as you walk in the door. Aggie's facials are AWESOME- I received compliments on my skin for weeks after! I started going to them for med-spa needs, and will continue going in perpetuity. I'd miss them otherwise! I have recommended Dr. Cohen and his team to all of my friends, my mom and my coworkers!

I saw Dr. Cohen for Entropion surgery several months ago. It required 3 visits, a consultation, a surgical procedure and a follow- up. I felt as if it was a brother caring for my vision. He was informative, empathetic and professional. I was very satisfied then as well as now. Thanks Doc.

This guy is a serial liar, a horrible communicator, a greedy and dishonest person, and a incompetent eye doctor. He has destroyed my eyes and worst he permanently damaged my perfect vision. I found Dr. Cohen while looking for specifically a upper eyelid filler injection doctor. Called his office to confirm and was told that he DOES perform that procedure. During consultation, he told me he DOES NOT do that procedure. He repeatedly pushed a Muellerectomy procedure and upper eyelid fat repositioning and grafting multiple times via face-to-face and email. Of course $6400 for those procedures is more lucrative than $700 for fillers and I fell victim to his greed and lies. He lied that he can provide steroid shots to keloids caused by eyelid surgery. He lied that he would provide drugs needed for surgery. My whole experience has been a complete nightmare. First picture of my perfect eyes 1 month before first surgery. Second picture is what happened because of the fat repositioning procedure that he did. During the first surgery I asked him to also add fat and not just fat repositioning. He rejected that request. I asked for the steroid injection to get rid of the large keloid from his poor skills. He rejected that request. Second surgery, he wanted to remove some of the upper eyelid skin. I told him he needed to add more fat to the hollow area and he rejected that request. During my follow-up with him after the second surgery, I was upset that the eyelid skin barely changed. He SPECIFICALLY told me he can fix it by either doing a filler injection or fat grafting. I caught him in his lie! I confronted him and his response was "I can do the filler injection. Oh NO, NO, I don't do filler injections". Third surgery he said he needed to do the fat grafting. Turns out I was right. But he had previously rejected that request for the second surgery. He said multiple times he will provide the relaxation medication for the third surgery. I was already on the operation table when he tells me he does not have any and that I should ask my friend to go pick some up for me. That wasn't possible so I ended up having a severe panic attack, hyper-ventilating, and crying hysterically during the surgery. During the follow-up, I confronted him on all the lies and the damage he did to my eyes and eye sight and the whole time he either wouldn't respond or denied everything. Talk about being a complete scumbag. Third picture is him destroying my eyes furthermore and permanently. An eye doctor told me that my upper eye waterline is completely exposed and my eyes do not close completely during sleep and as a result my eyesight is damaged. I can't believe I paid almost $7000 for an incompetent liar to f**k up my eyes and make me look worse. I regret ever meeting this guy. I asked for half of my money back, but he rejected it. I hope no one else ever becomes a victim to this greedy scumbag.

De Cohen saved my eyesight!!! I had terrible headaches and he sent me to the ER and convinced them to keep me overnight for observation and to conduct a spinal tap... Probably saved my eyesight; I will forever be grateful to this doctor!!!

Competent surgeons performing serious medical interventions don't need to use questionable tactics to sell their services. Don't line the pockets of industry dracula's preying on your vulnerabilities. Do intense sole searching prior to entering such an agreement and do your homework.

More concerned about money, office good for skin care But after experience with office, not returning calls, abrupt office manager etc would not do surgery with them .the office was empty , they offered me surgery within a few days , does not seem too busy , so I will not proceed with and will not recommend them to anyone Bad bad experience over all . He is an Eye doctor nota plastic surgeon if he was such a good eye doctor why is he spending so much time doing skin care, I want a surgeon with lost of experience

Not a plastic surgeon he is an eye doctor. Had 2 redo eyelid surgery twice then had to go to another doctor to correct what he did to me. Asked for my money back spent over $9000.00 he said he would only give me back $3500.00 cause 1 eye was good.Unreal

Don't waste your time, there are plenty of 4 star docs in the area.

I thought that I should write a review to express my experience with Dr. Cohen and his staff. I am very pleased with my surgery which was a Blepharoplasty.(eye lid lift). I chose Dr. Cohen based on the information that was on the internet as well has his credentials, and his expertise in eye surgery. From the first phone call to make my appointment, to the consultation, to the surgery, to the after care I could not ask for better treatment. Dr. Cohen was friendly and explained every detail of the surgery that I needed. Elissa was also wonderful and made the total office visit comfortable and pleasant. I would definitely recommend Dr. Cohen to anyone needing cosmetic surgery.

Excellent service and my eye surgery was a huge success. Would highly recommend.

Lousy doctor, Botox doesn't last 4 weeks. Don't waste your money on this swindler. Go to somebody who actually has a clue of what he's doing.

Dr. Cohen performed an upper eyelid lift on me and I am pleased with the results. He answered all my questions, I never felt rushed and he was very reassuring the day of the surgery. Obviously he is very competent but bedside manner is so important, especially when you are having surgery. Dr. Cohen always made me feel comfortable and it is a nice office overall to visit.

I was really impressed with Dr. Cohen and his staff. I have a really crazy schedule and they did whatever they had to in order to accommodate me. I truly liked how comfortable I felt around Dr. Cohen. He had an amazing bedside manner and his confidence, patience and expertise made me instantly know with 100% certainty that he was the physician for me. They answered all my questions and did not try to sell me on anything more. I was very pleased with how natural the Botox and filler turned out. I will definitely be back for a future visit. D

My mom and I went to see Dr. Cohen about medical anti-aging spa treatments last Saturday. He was incredibly patient and reviewed all our options (and non-options) before we settled on a Vampire Facial for me and a Vampire Facelift for my mom. Dr. Cohen's offices are very conveniently located in the Glen (just allow extra time for construction on Willow Road) and very professional yet stylish and comfortable. My procedure began with the application of a strong numbing cream so that I would not feel any discomfort during the treatment. Then, Dr. Cohen drew some blood from my arm which was "spun" and added to a special serum which was spread over my face so that when he used a Derma-pen the serum and blood combo could be absorbed deep into my skin. I was a bit red after the treatment but it looked like I has gotten a bit too much sun (which certainly happens to the best of us). I went out that night for gelato and didn't feel at all self conscious. I saw my Mom the next day and she looked great and wasnt wearing any makeup. She was very happy and I hope that she will write her own review. I respected Dr. Cohen's candid philosophy about what was reasonable and what would not really work in meeting my personal beauty goals. I never felt like he was selling or pushing procedures or products. Oh and I have felt that way at other providers (hint, hint - another dermatologist also located in the Glen). Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

I was seen by Dr. Cohen for a cancerous growth on my lower eyelid. Because of the size of the growth I was left with a large wound which frankly looked like it was going to be a horrible disfigurement. I am so happy with my results I don't know that there are enough words to fully describe my enthusiasm. I literally have no evidence that something was removed, much less reconstructed. I look just as I did before. No joke. I was terrified going into this and he made me comfortable and reassured me that this was going to have a great outcome, and he was right. The office is beautiful, too. Clean and modern. I have since gone back for Botox and a facial. Wonderful wonderful experience all around.

I've always had heavy and pronounced forehead lines and as I go older, I developed a dark melanoma on my temple. I met one of Dr. Cohen's staff members at an outing and the conversation lead to skin care and procedures. I was given the easy to remember website (theartofeyes.com) and later visited it. The website is modern, simple to navigate adn provided ample information to motivate me to schedule a consultations with Dr. Cohen. I am glad I did! I drove from the city to the office in Glenview, IL and found the building among the other same style buildings. When I entered the reception area, I was greeted as if I was family. I completed the standard medical questions and insurance forms provided and sat back and watched the flat screen tv in the patient's waiting area. Moments later, I was pulled away from the television and brought to the procedure room; after all, I was there from the office visit, not to watch the tele. The procedure room was very clean and the temperature was just right. Dr. Cohen came in and began the consultation. It seemed that my comfort was Dr. Cohen's priority. The Botox and the melanoma were addressed and we narrowed down what type of results I desired and what were realistic. Each procedure was explained to me along with expectations and instructions for me during the healing stages. The Dr. also pointed out that he noticed one eyebrow was naturally higher than the other and asked if I would want the brows to be even. Sounds like a dumb question and the answer would be obvious; but he'd probably be ignoring the service if he didn't. I feel sorry for other people who visit Doctors who don't practice the way Dr. Cohen does. Attention to detail and looking out for me (the patient) is the way I view it. I was given options...two options of how many Botox units could be used and the cost / results from both. I made decision and the Botox was injected while the anesthetics set in at the melanoma site; then the removal of the dark spot that has been bothering me for a few years. Once again, Dr. Cohen explained my instructions for the after care. I checked out at the front desk and the total payment did not break the bank! If I knew Botox was this reasonable and painless I would have done it years ago! So, now after almost two weeks, the Botox has exceeded my expectations and my forehead looks natural; not shinny, stretched and obvious. The melanoma removal site is a little pink just like any other healing of the skin and I expect it to get more pigment but the Dr. did say that it would be a tad discolored than the rest of my face. Heck, but that dark spot is no longer there! I am so happy with the procedures and happy to know that a magician like Dr. Adam J. Cohen exists so close to home! And I expressed this to him when he contacted to follow-up with me two days after my visit.

Everybody has an "off" day and I hope that my experience isn't the norm with this physician. I felt like my exam was very rushed and impersonal. It didn't seem like I wasn't getting answers based on my specific wants and needs, just attempts to up-sell me into procedures that were more expensive or more invasive than I was prepared for. I ended up selecting a facial peel that was pitched to me as a "trendy" and new treatment that celebrities were all doing. The treatment I received came with substantially more down time than what had been described to me. I couldn't imagine anyone in Hollywood leaving their homes looking like I did for a week. Overall I can't say the marginal results justified the price or time invested.

What should have been a 15 minute "free" consultation turned into an afternoon of waiting and testing for insurance coverage on procedures that I didn't even want or need on the first place. Everything felt very hurried and any of my questions were answered very non-specifically. Lots of, "Everybody heals differently", "it all depends on what you are comfortable with."- apparently indicating that If I was fine going back to work with 2 swollen, purple, bandaged eyelids that could bleed or become infected at any moment- I would be completely recovered in a matter of days. I ended up NOT getting any work done here. When doing my research (online) and looking for a physician, I wrote off the MANY "horrible" reviews for Dr. Cohen by assuming that every physician is going to have one or two "problem" patients or disgruntled employees out there seeking revenge of some sort. That being said, there are a great many well respected plastic surgeons on the NorthShore who have nothing but stellar (4 star) reviews. Not to say that that other doctors can't make mistakes, but maybe they work harder to please their patients and work towards mutually acceptable outcomes. A physician who operates in a manner that doesn't accept and work with unhappy patients & unexpected outcomes, has little or no respect for people or the responsibilities of the surgical profession.
