Dr. Adam E Perlmutter, DO

The Dr. saw me will having unexplained pain and saw that it was important to operate soon. He operated on me within three days and solved my problem. It doesn't get any better than that.

I have been visiting this doctor for about 7 years. He is well experienced , has a great bedside manner, & gets directly to problem in an attempt to resolve issues with patient. I like him and would recome to others.

My family and I have been patients of Dr. Perlmutters for about 3 years. He takes his time and really gives you the time a dr should to explain everything. Having surgery is scary and he made me feel very comfortable. I recovered quickly and am now cancer free!!!!! Thanks to dr perlmutter!

I was referred to Dr. Perlmutter by my family physcian for an ongoing problem of kidney stones. I was admitted to the hospital, had a stone removed that was stuck and couldnt be passed and was home recouperating that next morning. His office staff is very helpful and caring. I would recommend Dr. Perlmutter to anyone. Very good and knowledgable Dr.

I was admitted to the hospital by this doctor, late afternoon Friday; he was supposed to be filling the position for my personal urologist. I was told by the hospital staff that he should be coming to see me soon to explain my condition and future steps. This Dr. did not show for the next 28 hrs. Hospital staff called for him several times. After this Dr. arrived to the hospital, his egotistic personality contributed into an argument. Finally this doctor never fulfilled his duty. Had to get another doctor to see me at around 2300 hours.What a difference. Be aware and be prepared for this doctor

I have been a patient of Dr Perlmutters for a few years and he is an amazing, caring and very knowledgable doctor.

At 68, I was diagnosed with Prostate cancer and set out to find a physician experienced in this particular problem. Dr. Perlmutter saw me in a week, and proceeded to surgery in 3 weeks from the time of the call. Other groups would not see me for over a month with surgery estimated at 8-10 weeks out. When I met Dr Perlmutter, he was straightforward and honest, explained things well, never talked down to me, showed respect, and was honest with outcomes for both good and bad results following surgery. He has a very good sense of humor, and I really liked him. We are glad that we chose this option over Chicago-based specialty clinics. Post surgical follow up has been good and consistent. My recovery has been very rapid thanks to good surgical skills - 7 weeks post surgery I am riding a bicycle 50 miles at a time. My take on this is that the surgery went very well (Laparoscopic)and things are progressing on schedule.A very good job.

I first met Dr. Perlmutter when I was admitted into the hospital with a kidney stone. By the time I met with him initially, I was pretty sure my stone had passed. He told me that if he did not see the stone before the next morning, I would be in surgery to get a stent inserted, which would be painful. I told him I was no longer in pain and that an earlier scan had shown the stone to have almost passed, but this was still his plan. Luckily I passed the stone late that night, and I didn't have to argue against unnecessary surgery or pay for another scan. At my follow-up visit in his office, he scheduled a urine collection test, which is standard, but made no dietary recommendations at all based on the composition of the stone. At the follow-up visit I waited for 30 minutes past my appointment time to be brought into an exam room, and listened to Dr. Perlmutter chatting in the hallway about nudist colonies for another 10 minutes or so before he entered my room. When he got into the room, he briefly went over my test results, "Your potassium is low. Eat bananas," and said, "No more problems since the last time I saw you?" When I told him I had had several bouts of kidney stones (6-7) since then he didn't believe me. "Are you sure they were stones? That doesn't make sense because in the hospital only 3 stones showed up in your scan and you passed them all." It had been four months since then, so my body must have made more stones. When I started to describe the attacks and the stones I saw that followed, he cut me off and said they did sound like stones, but he still sounded skeptical. I didn't even get to finish my sentence before he began talking over me. He wouldn't give me any painkillers because he didn't believe I really had stones, which was embarrassing because I was in no way shopping for painkillers, but kidney stones really hurt! He finally did give me a prescription for anti-nausea medication so I could keep the few painkillers I have left down if I have another attack. All in all, I felt ignored, disrespected and rushed, and I will not be seeing Dr. Perlmutter again.

His staff is very unprofessional. They sit and chat instead of helping patient check in or out. I had to wait over an hour between waiting room and patient room. The Dr. is not much better. I had a summary of my past history and he didn't even want it. He breesed in, told me what he had to say and walked out. He didn't even wait for my questions. I am not going back.

I was very happy with all aspects of care with this physician. He was very friendly and willing to answer any and all questions. Very good bedside manner. NWI is very lucky to have kept such a great physician in this area.
