I was startled by Dr. Smolyar and his staff's repeated statements regarding the potential for permanent damage to my eye during the cataract surgery he was to perform. Both Dr. Smolyar and his surgery scheduler continually discussed the potential problems that might result. I have had one cataract surgery, so I understand they need to present this information to a patient. However, their redundancy and negativism gave me the impression Dr. Smolyar was not confident in his ability to successfully perform this surgery, so I changed to another surgeon.

Hello I was recommended to Dr. Smolyar. after having my eyes exam at optometrist I ask for very reputable and professional doctor for my cataract surgery. They were 100% right his work is great I was not able to drive my car anymore after having the cataracts removed I just need reading glasses I see like I’m 30 years old again thank you Doctor I greatly appreciate you and your professionalism if I have any other eye problems he will be the first on my list and only one on my list. Office personnel was very nice and waiting room was very clean. Doctor was very professional and was very thorough in diagnosing my eye problem. After letting me know what the problem was he went into detail and described my condition and treatment to me.

Dr. Smolyar has been monitoring the progression of my cataracts for a couple years and they were finally ready and so was I to have them removed. Dr. Smolyar never pushed me into something I wasn’t ready for and he’s always giving me the best solutions and options that are right for me. Surgery is done and I’m thrilled. My vision is no longer blurry and I was able to give up wearing glasses 24/7! Will I recommend Dr. Smolyar…Absolutely!

Went for a regular eye checkup and vision was fine, to a point. Dr. Smolyar noticed eyelids drooping and when he pulled the eyelid up suddenly a whole new world of light opened up. Had the surgery and now I don't have to lean into a lamp to read a book at night. Recovery was great. Ice packs to relieve swelling for 4-5 days and erythromycin 3 times a day to prevent infection. Mornings my vision was a little cloudy but that cleared up in about an hour. When I look in the mirror I can't believe how big my eyes look. Wearing my contacts again with no problem. Staff called me twice to see how I was doing. If you want a better outlook on life, Dr. Smolyar will make that possible.

Dr. was very unprofessional, rude and uncaring. Did not care about me or my eye condition. Just wanted to get me in and out. I don't think he is familar with all eye diseases. I would not recommend going to this facility.

I am not one who writes many reviews, but made an exception in this case as my experience with Dr Smolyar was exceptional. From the initial consultation throughout the procedure and post op appointments I found Dr Smolyar to be easy to talk with and appreciated his frank approach to answering my questions. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a quality and qualified cataract surgeon. If you are going to trust someone with your vision and eye care take my advice and look up Dr Smolyar at Southwest Florida Eye Care. The office was also easy to work with and attentive to my needs, especially Penny. I also recommend the Panoflex lens, my vision was restored to 20/20!

Dr. Smolyar removed cataracts from both eyes in September 2017. He is very professional and caring . He told me exactly what to expect during surgery. His staff at his office and surgery center were efficient, friendly and caring. I have 20/20 vision in one eye and 20/30 in the other and will now need reading glasses only. I would recommend Dr. Smolyar to everyone who may need the surgery..

Dr. Smolyar was one of over eight specialists I saw after experiencing a brain stem stroke. He was one of the smartest and actually helped tell the MRI operator where to look for the signs of the stroke.

I have been going to Dr. Smolyar for several years and have received excellent care everytime. I always try to get an early morning appointment and am always tssekn on time and out of the office in good time. He recently perfomed cateract surgery on both eyes and on mt last visit I tested 20/20 in both eyes.
