Dr. Mahmood is simply amazing! I want to thank him, his staff (Cindy and Samantha are the best!) for everything. I have lived with abdominal pain for 10 years. Went from doctor to doctor. Test after test. I have had enough scans for 10 people. I was getting frustrated and depressed. From the first visit, I knew Dr. Mahmood was the one. I know his waiting can be horrible, and sometimes I did have to call the office several times to get through...........BUT thank you for taking the time to listen and fix me!!! Peoples, if you are reading this, do NOT think twice. Dr. Mahmood is the surgeon that operated on me, then my mother in law and 2 others from church. He is a pleasant doctor, who takes the time to talk and listen, makes sure you are on "his" floor in the hospital (thank you to Cassy, Sonia, Jubi, Sue and my favorite Angela) for all ya'll help. I will forever be in debt to you. I have been pain free for a month and I don't even know/remember what that had felt like. Dr. Mahmood, you are amazing, thank you, may God bless you, and keep doing what you are doing. My church prays for you!!!!
I came here because my primary care doctor and GI doctor referred me. I suffer from a rare condition called Diverticulitis with anemia. I bleed very regularly. Most of the other surgeons I have seen, either want to take out my hemorrhoids, or do an operation. I have always been tentative. I have done my research and have managed my disease with diet, exercise and vitamins. I did notice that my bouts of bleeding were getting worse. I am very apprehensive of surgeons, as "do they just want to operate?" I don't think I know as much as they do, but I am also not an idiot and can think for myself. I arrived early for my appointment and the waiting room was full (not a happy entrance) The check in process was relatively smooth. (it would help if the intake forms were online to download) I was called into the office about 45 min later (thank God for iPhones) and met Dr. Mahmood's MA. She is super sweet. I was taken back to his office. On first glance its a little overwhelming inside there. I have never met a physician with that many awards, diplomas, citations, letters etc. Its almost a "shrine" (that is what Dr. Mahmood said he did NOT want) And let me tell you, he is worth and deserved of each and every one. Dr. Mahmood came in about 15 min later. He was warm, friendly, I could immediately tell he cared. He was not worried about time (maybe he should be :-) ) He took his time to explain to me the diagnosis, the treatment plan, his recommendations and thought process. It was one of the few times, the doctor treated me as someone with high level of intelligence in my disease process and wanted me to understand the logic. I was blown away. We then went to the exam room. He went over the operative plans, future tests and some consults. I told him I would think it over. He was supportive of that. I returned 3 weeks later, after 2 more bouts of severe bleeding, and we scheduled me for the operation. He could tell I was very anxious and scared. I could tell he sensed that and calmed me down. The day of the operation (I had to be there at 6 AM) he came in at around 7 am and met my husband, parents, and best friend. He was warm, but a little quicker this time. We went to the operating room (I was out) and only remember the ICU as my first memory. My family told me he had come after the surgery to talk to them and had come that evening to check up on me. I know I was a hard case even though Dr. Mahmood won't admit it. Throughout the hospital, he was there every day, sometimes twice a day. The course was smooth, painful, but smooth. I am about a month out, I have never felt better. I want to thank Dr. Mahmood, his team, his floor, his ICU from the bottom of my heart. They are the absolute best. If you are reading this, its because part of you is scared, and anxious, and worried about the future. We cannot control the future. We cannot control the past. We can control who we put our faith in. After God, I made a decision, I controlled my decision to see Dr. Mahmood. This was the BEST decision I could have made. I am ever grateful to that office, Samantha, Cindi, Nany (sorry if the spelling is off) and the hospital nurses, and the other doctors, but most of all to the person that I owe my life too, Dr. Mahmood. You will never know how you walked me through this journey and how you gave my life back to me. Thank you , thank you, thank you.
Best doctor in TX I come from Dallas to see Dr. Mahmood. He is the best and helped me when no one else could or would. Thank you. You are a true class act.
Dr. Mahmood treated me and saved my life! I was diagnosed with my 6th bout of diverticulitis. My colon had burst open and everyone told me I would either die or have a permanent colon bag. I was so scared in his office. But Dr Mahmood and his office staff gave me the strength, encouragement and confidence to get better and heal and make it through the operation. He is my hero!! Don't be put off by the wait in the waiting room, he is worth it, I would wait 10 hrs to see him!! Thank you Dr Mahmood for giving me my life back. Thank you to the office and to 4 East. You are all my angels.
I was referred to Dr. Mahmood after colon cancer was discovered. Not only did Dr. Mahmood draw pictures of what was going on inside of my body, he answered questions, one right after the other. He made me so comfortable and even eased my aprehension about my GI doc. He is making sure I am strong enough for the surgery, by doing a cardiac work up and having me make sure I get in 45 minutes of walking everyday. He is warm, compassionate and very concerned about my condition. I am so thankful my GI doc referred me to him.
I was referred to Dr. Mahmood this year for a serious colon problem. My gastro doc and my family doc both spoke very highly of him. I reviewed him online and saw what I liked. Some of the reviews were not as good, but overall I trusted what I had read, and more importantly what my other docs were saying. I am so thankful I listened to my gut. I had a colon polyp/mass that they my colonoscopy could not remove. I was devastated. I didn't know what to do or who to turn too. I was scared. Everything I read or the internet or what people said about surgery didn't comfort me, it just made me more and more anxious. I just needed to go in and see for myself what the surgeon was going to say, Dr. Mahmood. From the moment my husband, mom, kids, sister (yes I travelled in a pack) met Dr. Mahmood we were grateful. Yes, the appointment time was delayed, but his office waiting room was full of people that stated they would never go to anyone else. I did notice some people that had come in confused about their appointment time, but the office didn't turn them away (most were elderly) We met Dr. Mahmood in his office first before the exam room, and he went over my colonoscopy report, my pathology report, the operation, the recovery process. He answered all of our questions (my sister had about 15!) We were never rushed. He then took all of us to the exam room, and answered even more questions. For those of you complaining about waiting, that day it was probably me, so.......sorry. But my surgeon never made it seem like he was too busy, or there were others waiting.....Thank you Dr. Mahmood! The operative day, he walked in early and talked to all of us again (now even more people with my parents at the hospital) He visited me every day, talked about my labs, my progress, my goals, and would set a plan for me every day. On the day of discharge, I was nervous about going home, my operation was a success, but I was scared about being not around his team, and the nurses. Dr. Mahmood sensed I was nervous and calmed me down yet again. Throughout the entire process, Dr. Mahmood was with me each and every step of the way. He would round, and listen to my concerns. He was attentive, answered all my questions and my family's questions. He was pleasant, concerned and made me feel like I was in the safest hands. I have gone back and re-read the reviews, and I want to share with you (now reading my review) do not be swayed by the comments at all. Trust your gut, obviously, but trust that Dr. Mahmood will take great care of you. I am now CANCER FREE!!! And I owe it to my wonderful surgeon. It is worth the wait, worth the re-scheduling (I was never) and worth seeing Dr. Mahmood.
I have had two office visits with Dr. Mahmood. On the first visit he check me out and gave me a prescription for some cream for my hemorrhoids. Told me to come back the following week....The second appointment was canceled and rescheduled. On the second office visit the doctor told me if I hadn't heard from his special assistant by noon the next day to call her....I called her the next day because she never called me back. His assistant didn't have a clue as to why I was calling her. The next week I called the staff person that was responsible for scheduling operations for Dr.Mahmood. The standard answer was that she had to get with the doctor to work on the schedule and that she would call me back with a date. I called the woman responsible for scheduling the operations four more times and I got the same response that I got on the first phone call. I have called Mahmood's office at least four to five times...No one from Mahmood's office has ever called me back.....I would NOT recommend this doctor to anyone.....My family doctor recommended that I go see him, but the next time I see my family doctor I will tell him NOT to recommend Mahmood to any more of his patients
Awesome doctor and great surgeon. From the day I met dr Mahmoud recommended by my gastro doc I felt a total confidence in his direct conclusion that I needed surgery. Caring doctor and lookiing out for your best interest. He has a great team of doctors in with him with my surgery. Visited me everyday with a caring and pleasant attitude. Thank you Dr Mahmood!
I had an exceptional positive experience with great care provided
I have had 3 appointments canceled, still have not gotten in for a follow up of a colonoscopy performed in December. Very unprofessional!
We are so lucky to have had Dr. Mahmood as my boyfriend's surgeon for his 3 part colectomy and jpouch surgery. After many years of consideration, my boyfriend finally decided to go through with the surgery. He had been battling ulcerativec colitis for 13 years now and he wanted to take control of his life again. We researched multiple surgeons and made multiple appointments to help us pick the right one. Most surgeons in the field had great reviews and many years of experience. Dr Mahmood had considerably less years of experience and therefore fewer (not worse) reviews. The years of experience were our only concern just because we felt that the longer the surgeon had been doing it, the more practice he has had, the better the outcome. Well, I am glad that didn't deter us from meeting with him. The minute we walked in Dr. Mahmood was so welcoming and so easy to talk to. He is extremely knowledgeable and answeredthe list of questions we had brought with us. The fact that he hadn't been practicing for over 20 years made him very up to date with the newest technology and medicine. His procedures are not as invasive as they used to be and still as successful. Dr. Mahmood wants nothing but the best for his patients. For the second surgery (jpouch) he recommended us to Dr. Haubert ( also an outstanding surgeon). He wanted to make sure that the surgery was a success and she has a lot of experience and successful track record with those kind of surgeries. In between the surgeries, my boyfriend became ill and was hospitalized. Turns out he had an abscess. Throughout the entire time Dr. Mahmood took time out of his day to personally contact us to make sure we were being taken care of. He also maintained constant communication with the other doctors to assure nothing else would be affected. Today, we are sitting here in the hospital, recovering from his final surgery. Dr. Mahmood is still communicating with Dr. Haubert (over a year later). We are very blessed to have had them both as his surgeon. The experience has been as painless as possible and it wouldn't have happened without them. P.s. Dr. Mahmood's appointments may have a long waiting time (30+ minutes) but I assure you it is more than worth it.
I wanted to share how grateful I am to Dr. Ali Mahmood. From day 1 he took the time and effort to cure me of my ailment. From the office, to the hospital and beyond, I could not have asked for a more exceptional, honest, caring and compassionate surgeon. I would like to thank my family for making me get this specialist opinion. I will beat this disease chemotherapy as I have beat this surgery, thanks to my surgeon - thank you Dr. Mahmood.
I cannot recommend this doctor unless you want to risk false reassurance and delays in starting potentially life saving treatment. I am thankful I eventually went elsewhere for a second opinion.
We were referred to Dr. Mahmood by our family physician and gastro doctor. His appointment time was obtained and our wait in the office was about 10 minutes. We were a little apprehensive when we passed by Dr. Mahmood in the hallway, he looked young. However, one step into his office and it was easy to see how he had the trust of our family physician and gastroenterologist. Dr. Mahmood's entire office is filled with degrees and awards. From "Top Doctor" to "Outstanding physician" to "Chairman of Surgery" he clearly has the respect of the medical community. Our visit was very pleasant. He outlined the surgery, from the pre-op procedures to the operative day to my recovery. I felt so much better. Dr. Mahmood was able to ease a great deal of my fears from a single office visit. The day of surgery, he greeted us early. I was taken into the operating room by his team and my next memory is the recovery room. It must have been sometime in the evening, but Dr. Mahmood was still came in to check up on me. My following 3 days in the hospital were filled with up and downs, as expected, but the nursing staff was excellent, especially the day nurses, and Dr. Mahmood visited me each and every day. He genuinely was concerned about my well being. I am now cancer free, thanks to my doctors, in particular to my surgeon. I have returned to work in 3 weeks, and feel great. Throughout it all, the word CANCER would frighten me. Now I am proud to say, I am CANCER Free and it is mainly thanks to my surgeon. I recommend him to everyone. My brother will be going to him, along with my neighbor. I could not thank him enough. He is an outstanding surgeon, a caring doctor and I feel luck to have found him.
Dr Mamood is the most compassionate real Dr I have ever been to. He is taking care of my 85 year old mother. He always brightens your day. So intelegent and the best. I would recommend him to anyone. Love him.
From the first meeting I had with Dr. Mahmood I knew here was my doctor. He was professional, friendly, personal and easy to talk with. He took time with me, explained the problem, and answered any questions I could present to him. As a result of my first visit, I actually looked forward to future visits as a continuation of our doctor/patient relationship. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Mahmood to my relations or friends should they need his services. You will know he is the doctor as soon as he enters the room.
My Mom was taken to him for Ulceritive Colitis via ambulance. All he does is ask her few questions and thats it. She has severe bleeding thru her rectum consistently and is on a feeding tube STILL for 3 straight weeks. And still HE DOES NOTHING!!! Sends her back to the long term care facility and says to wait for another week. He Does not check anything. He does not look at anything. No Tests done. No Scans done. No NOTHING done. My mom has been losing weight, has been suffering consistent diarrehea and bleeding for 3 weeks straight, has inflamation in her rectum, has an ulcer in the small intestine, and THIS DOCTOR DOES NOTHING!!!
Dr. Mahmood is the best doctor, surgeon, physician I have ever met. He actually took the time to listen to my problems. I know his waiting room was full of patients, yet he never made it seem like I was not a priority. From the first office visit, to surgery for my colon, to the entire recovery process, he explained everything. I felt very comfortable asking him any question. I owe my life to Dr. Mahmood. I would and will send every person and family member his way, I cannot thank him enough.
I have nothing but the upmost regard for Dr. Mahmood and his practice. He is a great doctor and his staff is very helpful and friendly.
I recently had to have colon resection due to severe diverticulitis. Dr. Mahmood was very upfront about the risks, the options that he may have to take once in surgery and he is just a great doctor. Probably the best part about Dr. Mahmood is that he treats his patients just like he would his own family. Dr. Mahmood is a skilled professional and I have no reservations referring others to him.
