Dr Allison Mulcahy, MD

Dr. Mulcahy literally saved my life a year ago. I came in with anaphylaxis not due to allergies but to a little-known problem called histamine intolerance. I had been tracking my issues for a while and had some ideas about what could be causing it. Unlike most MDs I’ve ever seen, she listened to me and took my hunch seriously. She gave me the diagnosis I needed to have this taken seriously in future and prescribed me epipens, explaining how to handle a future anaphylactic emergency (the previous two times I had been in for anaphylaxis, the other doctors had not educated me). She also asked how my family paid for healthcare and literally wrote on the prescription for the pharmacy to give me their cheapest generics when I told her we had no health insurance. She went beyond that and discussed histamine management with me and offered some ideas for bringing it down in everyday life. I found her consummately professional, capable, and respectful. I have no idea how the patients who left negative reviews below could have come away with such a poor impression of her; I really appreciated her care for me at such a scary time, and was impressed by her intelligence, knowledge (particularly regarding cutting-edge areas of knowledge most doctors are still unaware of). Mahogany is a seriously hateful woman who treats patients with scorn.

My experience with this doctor was horrible. She was demeaning, aggressively hostile, completely ignorant of the rare condition I suffer from and refused to do anything to help me that wouldn't have made a bad situation far worse. Additionally, she spent more time telling me I should be seeing a psychiatrist (as well as grilling me re: Chronic pain, meds, etc.) than she spent actually even examining me. Cold, arrogant, and very much seems to discriminate against any woman (not men, oddly) reporting pain. I would rather go to my Veterinarian for care than ever be subjected to this woman's "care" again!!!!!
