Dr. Anthony Lynn Tropeano, MD

Last time my knee was scoped, it lasted 14 years. This time only 4 months. You know a surgeon is bad when other doctors shake their head when they are told you went to Anthony Tropeano and say that there is a very good reason that he closes and reopens in another location.

I love his bedside manner and expertise he showed.

This guy is amazing!! He sits down and listens, answers all my questions, not in a hurry and I love his nurse as well.. We have worked with this office staff prior to his joining the staff and they are great as well!!

I highly recommend Dr. Tropeano. Not only did he alleviate my pain, each visit was marked with humor, friendliness, and encouragement. He answered all my questions, both during treatment visits and follow-up appointments. Will only go to him for any future injuries or issues!

I broke my leg/ankle at work and had to have plates installed. In my first visit back I had blisters all down both sides of my incision and was told this was bad to cause infection so he started me on antibiotics. The doctor told me I had an infection on my second visit after to see him. I had 3 more surgery's with him to clean and put a would vacuum on, when the wound vac was removed the nurse noted it was stuck to my leg which resulted in no infection being drained from my wound. I had several cultures done... He tried to tell me the name of the infection I had and couldn't even pronounce the name of it and I directly ask him"so this isn't staph" and his response was no definitely not.... He had me scheduled for a 4th surgery when I went to see another Dr in Birmingham and told me that after all the antibiotics I had took that if it hasn't cleared up by now it would be in my bone. I was put on IV antibiotics (vancomycin)for 6 weeks with a wound vac to no avail and had to have my leg amputated.... My infectious disease Dr said it was staph after surgery and if we would have caught it earlier I would have had allot better chance of saving my leg.... How can this Dr never have checked me for a bone infection and the other knew it was there 5 mins after reading my file.....

Dr. Tropeano and his staff are wonderful!!!! He did a right knee scope and did a fantastic job!!! I almost can’t wait to get my left knee done. I believe that he and his staff went above and beyond to meet my needs. In fact I was in his office today and his staff was amazing!!! I highly recommend if you have any orthopedic needs you make your appointment today!!! The BEST Dr. and staff around!!!!!

I only saw Dr. Tropeano one time, however he did several blocks on my hip. I found him to be very professional when I met with him. I also found the staff at Coosa Valley Hospital to be very caring and professional. My problem was with the staff at Dr. Tropeano’s Office. It was almost impossible to get a call answered or to receive a call back from the staff. Sometimes I would have to call numerous times before someone would call back. Because I have to have someone drive me to appointments, it would be necessary for me to reschedule my appointments. I would call the office or Hospital as soon as I knew I had no transportation. To my knowledge I never failed to give notice when I had an appointment. The only time I was unable to call about an appointment was the last time I was scheduled to see him. This was due to a misunderstanding. When I called to schedule the appointment I was told it could not be scheduled until his office received cardioly clearance from my cardiologist. I was waiting to hear back from his staff to let me know when they got clearance. Never heard from them except to find a message the day before appointment advising I was to be at Hospital the next day.. It was after midnight when I heard this message. I tried calling them to let them know it was impossible for me to make arrangements to get the there. I left several messages and was very upset. I received a call from his office staff the next morning. I explained why I was unable to get there and had been waiting to hear back from them about cardiology clearance. The nurse I was speaking with denied telling me I needed this clearance. I knew she was the nurse I had spoken with as I recognized her voice I, but was ‘t going to argue with her. When I told her I wanted to schedule another appointment, she was very rude and said the doctor wouldn’t be able to see me as I had not shown up for several appointments. This was totally untrue. If I couldn’t make an appointment, I made certain to call before time and reschedule. I am a professional and realize how important a physician’s time is. I spent over 20 years as a Hospital administrator and would never not call if I couldn’t make an appointment. She said they would send my records to a new doctor when I had one. When I explained to my primary physician what had transpired, he suggested that his office would call and see if they could resolve. Dr. Tropeano’s office told them I had been a no show for three appointments. Since I had only had three blocks that is impossible. One of those was a block on my back and the others on my hip were performed by Dr. Tropeano.. The other confusion when I called for an appointment, it was scheduled for 1:00 pm which I found odd. I called to verify the time and was told the time was a mistake because they had a new employee who didn’t understand that the doctor doesn’t do hip blocks at that time. I understand that mistakes happen so I rescheduled. I will find a new doctor, but hope the doctor and his wife will review their staff so this won’t happen to another patient. I have no problem with this doctor, but his staff is another issue. This has caused me much frustration and delay in receiving much needed care. This staff is a poor representative for Dr Tropeano.

I believe I was a patient in the lobby waiting area the day the Nurse of 30 years who commented about this Doctors behavior. I heard most of the conversation and he did ask the patient to leave his clinic only after she was screaming to the top of her lungs and calling him the most vulgar names. I was very offended by her lack of respect for my grand-daughter setting beside me in the waiting area. The best I could make out was she was demanding pain medication and he was not giving her what she wanted. I had a very nice visit with the doctor however the nurse that wears the glasses and always has her hair in a ball on top of her head was smirky and rude. Not really sure if she is a nurse or just says she is a nurse because she gave me some very poor advice about mixing my medication. My primary doctor said it could have been a deadly mistake if I had taken it the way she suggested. Overall I liked the doctor but be sure and check out what the others are telling you to do.

I had the complete opposite experience. Dr. Tropeano is a VERY caring and thurough doctor. He takes his time and makes sure the patient is taken care of. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone. He is one of the few doctors left that takes pride in his job and makes sure the patient comes first. He is well worth the wait. I had the BEST experience and will definitely be going back if needed. He is not a doctor that guesses his plan of treatment. He makes sure you get exactly what you need.
