Dr. Ara Keshishian, MD

I have only great things to say about Dr. Keshishian as he truly cares about all of his patients. I am 3 years out from DS surgery and he continues to look after my well being. The DS surgery is a lifestyle and is not to be taken lightly. When considering this drastic a surgery, there is no other surgeon in the world I would recommend. He continues to be one of the best Doctor's I know.

Dr. keshishian did a great job performing my DS. He really bent over backwards for me as I'd traveled from Washington with family to get this surgery. I have congestive heart failure and with the travel to California I'd swollen quite a bit. I was supposed to have the surgery in another hospital where I would have had to travel more. In order for me to have my surgery on time and be safe with the heart issues, Dr. Keshishian moved his whole schedule around for a week so that I could remain in Pasadena to have my surgery safely. He is truly the most caring doctor I've ever had!

But, all I got was the run around and had to seek a second opinion. I just wish you can see the botched job from all my lab reports. After seeing my CT scan, Endoscopy, upper GI, I will never be able to have a sleeve operation due to the way he left me. He lied, said he could do it after the lap band removal he did while all other doctors say no way, too dangerous. Too may staples and at least 10 surgical clips he put inside me directly in the way of a sleeve operation. He also left a foreign object inside (a piece of the lap band connector tube), lied about this too, but the CT Scan doesn’t lie. Said he bent over backwards for me when all I got was a whole lot of nothing and just mislead me many months. Another doctor told me it was probably because of the way he left me. Why couldn’t he just be honest with me?? He is very enthusiastic and talks a good talk but please get a second opinion if your considering your revision from him.

Dr. K is fabulous. He is very personable and listens to his patients. My husband and I absolutely adore Dr. K!!

I had a complication after surgery. The nurses in his special wing absolutely do not listen to the patients. I was told it was my fault I was having complications and I brought in on myself because I did not watch tv! After an initial visit post-op Dr. K wouldn't see me in the hospital. The only Dr. that cared about my post op complication was the anesthesiologist! You better hope you're a round peg going into a round hole because Dr. K does not think outside the box at all and he's a jerk about it. I should have heeded my own warning, never go to a dr. that went to med school in the Caribbean.

Dr Keshishian is always willing to take the time to answer my questions. I had surgery with him 14 years ago and he is still accessible to me to this day. In fact I just spoke to him today. Aftercare is just as important as surgery day and I have to rate him top stars for both

I had my Gastric Sleeve operation one year ago last Sept. The surgery was an in and out procedure and I was not in pain after at all. Before surgery I had high blood pressure and type 2 Diabetes. I felt awful, no energy, knees hurt etc. After surgery I began loosing weight every month. First month I lost 22 lbs and no longer had diabetes or high blood pressure. My regular doctor took me off the pills! Each month after I lost weight. I was never a huge eater anyway so this new small portion eating was easy for me. I listened to my stomach when I ate and quit before I felt full. I never vomited once!!!! Soon I began having more energy and felt great. As I got closer to my goal the weight loss each month diminished. One year from the date of my surgery I had not only lost weight goal but surpassed it. I continued to loose till my body decided it was at a weight right for me. To date I took off 90 lbs! Now my body is stable and stays this weight. I wear smaller slacks than I wore in high school and look and feel great! I am sure this procedure has saved my life! I love how I look and have energy to burn..pretty good for a 66 yr old woman! I am grateful every single day for this surgery and to Dr. Keshishian! I recommend him to all my friends.

I had my DS in 2000. Dr. K and the staff were awesome. I live in Reno, NV and the distance could have become a problem if Dr. K's personal follow up and special attention werenâ??t superb.

Dr. K is very friendly, down to earth, and approachable. He will take the time to call you back if you have any questions after hours. I've very happy with my surgery.

Dr K is great surgeon, but honestly his aftercare is not the greatest. His office staff does not email back and sometimes it takes a few phone calls to get something accomplished.

I HAD THE DS 7 YEARS AGO AND IM DOING GREAT I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS AND I HAVE KEPT MY WEIGHT OFF DR K HAS CHANGED MY LIFE I CAN DO SO MANY THINGS IF I HAD TO DO IT AGAIN I WOULD IN A HEART BEAT DR K IS AWSOME

I highly recommend Dr. Keshishian. He performed my lapband surgery and corrected problems I had from a previous gall bladder surgery. His bedside manner puts you at ease and he tells it like it is. I like his attitude & his responses to my questions.

Had my surgery in 2000. Dr. K was always kind and caring. Listened to my concerns and addressed them. Over the next year I lost 153 pounds. My daughter had the surgery in 2007. She too lost over 150 pounds and recently had a beautIful baby girl. I would trust no other doctor for myself or my family. He is wonderful!

Dr. Keshishian truly saved my life. I could barely get out of bed each morning to play with my kids. I just felt so tired and my knees hurt - I couldn't stand up for very long. I found Dr. Keshishian through LoveLapBand.com on TV and I just decided to call and see what it was about. The people there were so nice to me I felt very comfortable with them. Dr. Keshishian answered all my questions and made me feel good about my choice. In addition to being an excellent surgeon, he is a wonderful (and very funny) person.I've lost 50 pounds so far and I know I'm not done yet, but I feel motivated to keep going. I can even play basketball with my daughter and not feel like Im going to pass out. The lapband truly saved my life. Thank you Dr. Keshishian and your staff!

It will be hard to keep this short and simple. My mother was in her 50's and for many reasons not a great candidate for surgery. We (her family) told Dr. K and the office our concerns but the they reassured us. My mother had the Duodenal Switch gastric bypass surgery. I do not think she had complications right away. She lost the weight, and more and more and then she looked like a skeleton and she wasn't hungry and she had weird symptoms and was not healthy. Doctors couldnt figure out what was wrong with her. We kept suggesting that she was malnurished (sp?) and no one agreed. We tried to get Dr. K's office to help and nothing. After a long struggle Dr. K finally said he needed to reverse her surgery ASAP. We went to Delano where he told me she seemed depressed and he thought she might not make it, but it would be her fault for willing it. (Nice guy, huh?) Then she was not recovering and we kept requesting he come see her in the hospital, but he wouldn't. Finally when he did, he had concern. My mother complained of extreme heartburn, so bad it came up into her mouth and asked for her own medication, but they said no, even though we had it there. That day they sent me home for the weekend so she could rest and I was to return on Monday for us to decide on recovery options. I received a call early Saturday morning that she had choked on the very same vomit/ heartburn and died. They had never given her any additional treatment for her complaint. This guy thinks he is so fabulous and gives everybody a second chance. He names a wing in a hospital after himself even. (The wing is not that great either). He is pompous and rude and because he did not listen to my mother's complaints early after her original surgery she started to starve to death. And then he didnt listen to her again after the second surgery and she aspirated on her own vomit. It has been 2 years since then and I hold nothing against GB surgery, but I still blame him for the death of my mother. If he is your doctor - good luck, you are going to need it.

when I got my surgery , the next day I was very sick, I could'nt breath ,eat or sleep. I call the office trying to get some help but no one answered the phone. My brother had to take me to the emergency room because I was beraly able to breath. Two days later when I finaly saw the doctor I told him about what happened to me and he acted liked he really didnt care. He gave me a rude attitude.

Who ever has Dr. K (as many of his patients fondly refer to him) are in the best hands you could want! It has been Three years since my surgery, and I am still loosing! I have many medical problems, so I have lost my weight nice and slow. The surgery changed my whole life! I have lost 115 lbs. Dr. K has always been available, when needed. If not him, then his staff. He is a true artist in what he does. I would choose him for any surgery due to his genuine care and skills.
