Dr. Barbara L Merrill, DO

I was Dr Merril's pt for 5yrs, due to chronic Lower back pain she never touched my body 1 time, never did a xray or MRI, she fed me opiods for 5yrs, which was very difficult to cold turkey off of opiods. She violated HIPPA so many times, telling me & gossiping about my mother's conditions (who was also Dr. Merrill's pt). 6 months later I had a new Dr, who finally did an MRI, herniated disk, and spinal stenosis was so bad, I was referred to msu spine & ortho & received surgery on my back. At times I had to wait an hour in the room, while I could hear her talking about her own life to the pt in the next room. I hope this never happens to anyone else.

I've lost track of how many years I've been seeing Barbara Merrill, D.O. but can't say enough good about her. Never have I had a physician who takes so much time to listen, comment, and educate me about health matters. Another noteworthy item is that office staff are consistently friendly and helpful. I also like that I can get mammograms in the same location.

She is extremely rude and talks more about other patients that have your illness rather than focusing on you. Will not even look you in the eye when performing your interview. I am a student nurse and she basically berated the nursing profession to my face by saying most nurses do not deserve to have their license and should not have gotten into nursing school. Seems like I could say the same for some physicians. She is not my primary physician. I have been seeing another physician at the practice she is at since I was in middle school and the only reason I did not see him is because he was deployed overseas for his military work. I will never go back to Dr. Merrill.

I was a pacient of hers for years. Her main problem is she does not listen to her pacients and actually try to correct the problem. I was on 5 different perscriptions at 1 time and was in bad shape. Now I have a great doctor who properly diagnosed me and Im down to 1. She cares more about her EGO than our health.

Dr. Merrill was worth the wait. She spent a great deal of time with me. Listened to all my questions & gave very good detailed answers.

Dr. Merrill is the best of the best.

This Doctor is responsible for my Mother's death. She prescribed her so much oxycontin and oxycodone that her kidneys shut down. She was admitted into the hospital and treated. Yet Dr. Merrill continued to prescribe my Mother pain medication at above the recommended dosage. She never rechecked her kidney function and less than one year later my Mother was gone. Dr. Merril never once touched my Mother. She talked mostly about her own family problems. On a Tuesday my Mother was seen by Dr. Merrill and on Friday she had passed. Within a very short time period she dropped all her pain patients. My Mother was a full blown addict in her 50's due to this Doctor. At 60 she was dead.

She has a whole new, friendlier staff. I have always liked her and now she has ALL great staff. Before, some of them were rather rude. Not all, but a couple of them.

I would never send anyone to this person I would never use the title doctor when referring to her she treated me like excuse this expression crap and some sort of low life I am a Mensa member and I am a loving honest person she was a cruel cold witch with no manners or professional demeanor and told her staff I was a pain in the you know what I can't use the word I wanted to but I'm sure you get it. In my humble opinion she should not see patients ever

I would never recommend this doctor to anyone I wanted to see get better. From the first time I saw her till the end when I said I wanted my pain handled in another way besides painkillers she never got me any answers. In the at least 5 yrs. of being her patient she never once did a physical exam or any other test even when I repeatedly asked for them. She always said next time and then next time was running to far behind. Which was another issue I never waited less than 45-60 minutes for her and it didn't matter if I was the first appt of the day! I even overheard a patient complain once about the wait only to have the doctor say to her staff "what are they complaining about? They don't work. What do they have to do that's so important? Tell them to get a job." She was an appalling doctor with no bedside manner, who doesn't deserve any stars on here. She made it more than obvious she was in it for the money! Deplorable!!!

The only reason I rated B. Merrill a 1 star, is because there isn't a choice to rate lower! Only way to describe her "pill mill."

I do not normally write reviews but I am so disappointed with this office that I feel a review is warranted. It takes weeks to get an issue handled over the phone. Your calls are returned days later if at all. The doctor said she would research a concern of mine and never got back to me.

I treated with Merrill for about 10 years, and I am glad she has left the Perry area. I always had to wait sometimes up to an hour, found her follow up to be non existant and frankly, did not diagnose or treat me properly for several conditions, including pneumonia and scoliosis. I changed docs a while back and am glad I did. My advice would be for you to do the same if you are seeing her
