Thoroughly listens! Vast knowledge on so many medical issues …she has a great arsenal for solutions! I continue learning through her to apply what works for me personally. So refreshing to have a Doctor that treats me into wellness completely! Conventional medicine needs Dr Herbert’s treatment methods!

I recommend ozone therapy. It is my go to for old sports injuries. It really helps quickly with swelling & inflammation. Dr. Herbert is very knowledgeable & kind.

Dr Herbert really cares about her patients well being and is the most knowledgable doctor I’ve met. She spends a great deal of time with each patient to understand their issues and listens to what they have to say. Thats so rare these days. I’m so thankful to have her as my doctor!

In 2015, I had a wreck that resulted in a concussion. My first. The ensuing headaches were unpredictable and no headache med would relieve it. I happened to mention the concussion to Dr. Herbert. She said she could fix that if I wanted her to. YES! She somehow found the place in my head that needed released. I felt it when it happened. To this day, I’ve never had another concussive headache! I've just recently visited with Dr. Herbert for my second consultation and am humbly grateful for finding her (which was done via an ILADS directory lookup). In short, I've been to The Mayo Clinic for allergies, The Cleveland Clinic's Digestive Disease Center & their Functional Medicine Department founded by Dr. Mark Hyman, and Vanderbilt's world renowned ENT/voice clinic and Digestive Disease Center. Now, in no way do I disregard any of the medical advice from the aforementioned clinics/providers; and I humbly respect them exponentially as they have shown extraordinary attention and genuine concern for what I'm experiencing! Truly, I'm eternally grateful for their wisdom and council. But having been told so frequently that my symptoms potentially stem from another and unknown related health condition, I decided to seek out a local functional medicine specialist to help put some of the pieces together in an attempt to understand 1) what it is that I actually have and 2) what forms of treatment might be most advantageous in resuming a level of normal functionality. While I believe I may have a ways to go, I am uniquely impressed with her broad range of medical knowledge and understanding of bodily/medical complexities that, in the past and somewhat still currently, have perplexed "traditional" medical practices. Does, Dr. Herbert have all of the answers? I'm not sure... maybe yes or no. But, she certainly has unleashed an arsenal of plausible explanations, recommendations, & clinical treatments & tests by reputable research facilities that have historically shown high levels of success (some, not all, are typically covered by insurance), and most importantly: an honest outlook of what treatment will entail (financially, physically, and mentally). And even more importantly, Dr. Herbert is, simply put, a genuinely caring physician who has demonstrated, at least to me, that I'm not alone in this fight and that she's "all in" when it comes to the complex medical journey ahead. And she has routinely admonished not to give up (via email chats at 1:30am); and that there is still profound existential hope in gaining some, if not most or even "all", of the functions I used to effectuate during my former years. It's challenging for me to make it back and forth from Charlotte, NC to either Vanderbilt, The Mayo Clinic, or The Cleveland Clinic. So, if you are searching out a local and highly-knowledgeable Functional Medicine specialist, I encourage you to reach out to Dr. Bettina Herbert, share your experiences, symptoms, challenges, etc... and like me, you may be positively taken back by her thoughts and medical recommendations!

I had chronic leg cramps for over 10 years and by simply prescribing specific minerals, vitamins, and supplements, as well as dietary changes, Dr. Herbert totally eliminated my leg cramps within a month! She suspected that I have had severe sleep apnea for years...probably fifty years or more. She recommended that I see a sleep specialist, which I did, and I took a sleep study test, which confirmed that I definitely have severe sleep apnea, and that I consistently stopped breathing repetitively approximately every two minutes or less! I am expecting the CPAP machine to be delivered within a day of two, almost entirely paid for by my Humana hmo and Medicare. Dr. Herbert is intrinsicaly a more concerned health and human welfare proponent than most doctors seem to be. She is trying to make a respectable living like most everyone, but her primary focus is human well-being and not her bank account.

Dr. Herbert was the only doctor who would listen to me and believed that my symptoms were real. I wasn't crazy! Through her expansive knowledge of mold toxicity and further testing, it was revealed that I did, in fact, have severe mold toxicity. She literally saved my life with her care and treatment. I had a multitude of symptoms, including short-term memory loss, shakes, dizziness, seizures, foggy brain, agitation, moodiness, depression, balance issues, cognitive issues, personality changes, confusion, short attention span, difficulty concentrating and paying attention, anxiety, trembling, low blood pressure, blurry vision, chronic fatigue, weakness, aches and pains, muscle pain, chest pain, abdominal pain, headaches, nausea, and vomiting. Because I had such a high level of toxicity in my body, I am not 100% yet, but, I fully trust that Dr. Herbert will get me there. She is compassionate and truly cares for her patients. She is a Godsend! If you are tired of being sent on your way by other physicians who have no clue what mold exposure does to someone or is saying mold cannot do that to you, please, go see Dr. Herbert.

Using only her hands! As a premier diagnostician and MD at Hands On Medicine in Pa, I have been chelated for heavy metals and treated for occupational exposures to toxins of every sort. A complete genomic workup was performed, leaving no doubt as to what was wrong and how to remediate. Now at COEM, in Charleston, SC, the miles I need to travel seem incidental to the care I'm receiving from her. Molds and allergies have now taken hold of this body. At the time of this writing, treatment for multiple mold exposures, and the neutralizing of my(many) allergies, most I never knew I had, is well underway. Dr Bettina Herbert is an excellent doctor that diagnosed a long term problem and probably saved my life because of her expertise and attention to detail. I was suspicious that mold in my work environment was making me very sick and my regular doctor never picked up on it. Allergy testing confirmed that the mold i was exposed to at work was the problem and I retired from a job I had been at for over 28 years. My health has greatly improved in th four months since plus my mental clarity has returned. An added bonus is my long term arthritis which caused me great pain for many years has disappeared. Diet changes recommended by her and getting away from the mold made all the difference. I had no idea about how much effect mold and diet contribute to poor health untill she explained it to me. The staff at the office could not be more helpful, the only drawback here is they are understaffed which means response time is slow at times. I am enjoying my improved health now that I finally found a place to properly diagnose and identify what has been causing me problems for many years.
