I've been going to Dr Abernethy for almost a year and a half. I like Dr Abernethy, but his office staff is horrible. They almost never answer the phone, and so I have to leave a message. Their voicemail says they will return calls within 24 hours. But out of the many, many times I've left messages, they've only returned my calls once. Once! I leave messages practically begging for someone to call me back, and no one does. He's only in the office on Thursdays and Fridays, so he has told me to have refill requests sent in about a week ahead of time. I have done that. But one time, it took over 2 weeks to get a refill. Also, it has been over a year since I've seen him, with no follow-up or med checks. I finally found out by calling my pharmacy (to check on the status of a refill) that the dr had noted that I needed to come in. No call from the doctor's office. So I've been trying to call and make an appointment for a week now, with no answer, and no one has called me back. Oh yes, and about payment. Because my deductible is so high, the receptionist made a deal with me that I could just pay $50 per visit, and she said we just wouldn't tell the doctor. So the next time I came in, I handed her a $50 check, and the doctor was standing right there, and she acted like I was supposed to pay more. I reminded her that she had said I could just pay $50, and she acted like I was crazy. She just didn't want to get in trouble with the doctor. But he said, well if that's the deal you made, then that's all she has to pay. I'm getting seriously angry. This is all extremely unprofessional. It's really too bad, because Dr Abernethy seems like a good psychiatrist. But because of his office staff, I'm seriously considering finding a new psychiatrist.
