Dr. Bruce Berry, MD, FACP

Dr. Berry has been my family doctor for years. His bedside manner is genuine, caring, informative, professional and attentive. His diagnoses are always spot on. He is also my parents doctor and we highly recommend him. I am not sure what the other negative reviews are about (there are 2 sides to every story), but that is not at all the doctor I have seen for years. 5/5 stars.

Great doc listens has patience very good bed side maners

I'm following up from a previous review. I feel like things have changed and not for the better. I felt brushed off the last time I visited and now since Ascention took over, booking an appointment and talking to an actual person from the office is quite the challenge. It's frustrating. Key things from my last appointment, a regular yearly exam, were not followed up on. Feeling like just a number with an insurance card that pays their bills.

I have recommended Dr. Berry to my own family members. I wouldn't have done this if it were not well deserved.

Dr. Berry has a great 'bedside' manner. He's warm and engaged. I admit I'm a tough patient. I don't readily accept info just because an MD spouts it to me. I question things. I've always felt that Dr. Berry was a partner in my healthcare. That is until he tried to force statins on me despite my numbers being pretty consistent for years. Yes, he had measured answers for the questions I had but they seriously sounded like a drug reps did a really good spiel. Or maybe a conference he attended? I'm trying to be okay with what I feel is a change in his manner. He's better than most doctors, but still a part of the medical industry machine, and I thought he was different.

Dr. Berry is only reachable if you make an appointment and pay your co-pay. Then he's happy to see you. But call in between appointments with a problem or question, and he stonewalls, forcing you to go through his staff, who are mostly lacking in any knowledge or compassion. Which, sadly, is the case with Dr. Berry himself in some areas. He is good with diabetes, but even admits he knows nothing about gynecological problems, and seems not to care very much, either. He will farm you out to a GYN who likely knows not much more than he does (and cares just as little), and if you ask for pain medication to help you endure agonizing suffering that consumes half of each month and prevents you from getting any sleep, he will underprescribe or refuse to prescribe the appropriate medication that trusted sources such as the NIH insist patients with extreme menstrual pain deserve. So clearly he lacks the knowledge or compassion in such situations. He should stick to treating geriatrics, who he can relate to better, and who haven't gotten their period in forty years, so he doesn't have to worry about such issues that he doesn't know or care anything about. In short: He doesn't want to talk to you if he's not getting paid. He is unmoved by your intense suffering, at least if related to a "mere period." And he doesn't listen to his patients. I had to keep trying in vain to repeat to his staff things I had told the doctor long before, when protesting his denials of my requests - apparently he doesn't take the time to check his own records. He needs to brush up on the latest NIH research, etc., if he doesn't know basic things that his patients can find through their own research. And he needs to grow a heart.

Dr. Berry was my husbands doctor for well over 25 years. Dr. Berry is not one of the best doctors, HE IS THE BEST DOCTOR! He's an absolute one of a kind and we miss him.
