Dr. Bryan William Fennelly, MD

If I could give lower than 1 star I would. This man is condescending and when something doesn't go his way he acts like a petulant teenager. He goes off on tangents that are unrelated to the situation. He called in refills days, a week late even though they were overdue causing missed doses. Does not care about his patients. Extremely pompous and convinced of his own self importance. If you're thinking of going to him RUN the other way, anyone else would be a better practitioner.

This practitioner is not professional. He is talking vague. It took him 4 weeks to write a report that is nonsense.

Fennelly has a reputation for diagnosing patients quickly and libreally. He also tends to prescribe the same powerful medications over and over again. Fennelly also has a habit of talking down to and shaming the patient, which is a dangerous environment for seeking treatment. He should unwaveringly be of the mindset that there is nothing you did to “deserve” or “cause” your mental illness, and there is nothing shameful about being mentally ill or seeking treatment. Still, Fennelly historically makes the patient feel bad about their condition. His lack of humility is dangerous because he believes he does not make mistakes. Yes, he has an advanced degree, but this does not mean that he is all-knowing and all-powerful. If you do decide to see this doctor, do not be afraid to get a second opinion to ensure that he did not misdiagnose you.

While his style is a bit unorthodox, he was an absolute life saver for me while dealing with a crisis with my child and my ex.

Our child had the unfortunate experience of being evaluated by Bryan. He came into the process with a pre-conceived notion about both our child, and us as parents. He is a terrible listener, constantly interrupted both parents, and made certain assumptions based on either his limited or incorrect understanding of the situation. Asked a question, then interrupted the answer because it "wasn't helpful" or because he had another "very important" question to ask. During a telephone call -- that he initiated -- he told me repeatedly that I was wasting his time, and then spent five solid minutes in a soliloquy about himself and his impressions of me as a person and as a parent despite the fact that we never met and had only spoken a few minutes before he unloaded his thoughts. I have never experienced such an unprofessional, thoughtless, and self-centered person in my life. Do yourself a favor, and run in the opposite direction.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the few positive reviews of “Dr.” Fennelly on this site were just written himself. Absolutely terrible.

It took a while before I opened up to him, but once I did everything improved. He takes my feedback seriously. He shows me the potential I have. He is warm but very direct. Dr. Fennelly is not trying to win a popularity award so for people looking to complain but not do the work to change, find another doctor. His premium prices seemed high but he gets results so I'm happy to pay. For those of us that can afford him and also enjoy his no nonsense style, he is a miracle worker.

I cannot belive this man is in practice. He was almost irrational. Described himself as an "authority figure" to my child ruining any chance of a therapeutic alliance. He talked about himself, answered the phone and walked out of the office several times. It's terrifying that this person is diagnosing and prescribing for people. Run as fast as you can.

I will never take my child to see Dr. Fennelly again and I most definitely will not recommend him to any other parent. He should not be treating children.

We brought our child to Dr. Fennelly after seeing several other clinicians who gave conflicting recommendations. It was a stressful situation to say the least and Dr. Fennelly helped stabilize us by being measured, deliberate and even-minded. Even though I disagreed with him on a few things and lost my cool a few times, he remained professional and respectful. Our child is doing great and not on any medications at this time. Given where we were a year ago, this is an amazing turnaround.

Over medicates till he runs out of options. I saw him starting at 17 and was only hospitalized wih each medication i was put on. 11 pills later i got enough sense to move on and only to find i was MISDIAGNOSED! Thank you doctor!

Dealing with this guy was madness. I was a naive 21-year-old at the time of our first appointment and not savvy enough to realize that I was dealing with a quack. He spent most of the sessions talking about himself, his other patients, and some really inane things. I had a bottled water with me during one of our sessions, and noticing that, he went into a long-winded story about one time when he was on the NJ transit train and somebody gave him a bottle of water. Simple as that, but it took him at least five minutes to tell this "fascinating" story. In hindsight, I suspect that he has Aspberger's, as he has no ability to relate to/empathize with others or follow a conversation and never made eye contact with me. But I digress, I initially came to him for help with my Attention Deficit Disorder. Using some pretty strange reasoning, he told me that it wasn't ADD at all but Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. When I questioned his logic, he told me that he had written his thesis paper on OCD and vehemently assured me that he was an expert on the subject. He told me that a number of his patients up end leaving with a diagnosis of OCD that they hadn't expected, which is pretty disturbing in light of my own experiences with him. He went on to prescribe me some OCD meds that caused me some harm and didn't treat my symptoms at all. In fact, my ADD got much worse during my time with him. Some expert! Towards the end of my dealings with him, I became very sick with a life threatening condition. (There is a some speculation out there that one of the useless pills that he prescribed me may trigger this illness in some people). Not only did he not display any human empathy or show any interest when I tried to discuss my anxieties over my worsening illness with him, he later went on to bill me for an appointment I missed because I had been taken to the emergency room. Once I was out of the hospital and this was fully explained to him, he refused to forgive the "debt". Please spare yourself an ordeal and seek out a competent, caring professional.

Awful mannerism would never go back - do not bring your child there - very dirty, creepy and left my 8 year old son in the waiting room by the door to the parking lot for an hour by himself

My son was accurately diagnosed and enjoys talking to Dr Fennelly. It has been a positive experience.

This doctor cannot connect with people. My son was afraid of going to him. He has no skills to make children open up. He's worthless also he never has anyone else waiting in his office

This man loves to hear himself talk about himself, talk about his other patients, and makes very inappropriate comments. $265 to hear him talk about everything other than me? No thanks. I stopped seeing him about 4 months ago because I felt that he did not deserve my business. Today I received a very rude letter in the mail from him instructing me that I was required to let him know what my "intentions" were for not going back to him. That motivated me to do nothing more than finally write a review about him and try to stop people from seeing him before they get into the same situation.

More concerned about receiving insurance money than providing help.

I've read the reviews and can't fathom why others have commented negatively on Dr. Fennelly.He handled my son's problem with the utmost care both medically and emotionally. Shame on the angry people who vent on the internet!

I suffered from anxiety so badly that I was self medicating with any type of pain medication I could get. Eventually I ended up in the hospital a few times...luckily for me... the third time Dr. Fennelly was on call. He was the first Dr. to actually listen to me and "heard" me. His concern and care and expertise in knowing what medication and what behaviors to address are spot on.Years later, Dr. Fennelly also helped my son who suffered from panic attacks so severe he could not go to school. After his first visit to Dr. Fennelly, after seeing two other Drs. that our insurance plan offered.. he came home and said THANK YOU for sending me to him.My husband lost his job about a year ago and we are finacially strained. Dr. Fennelly lowered his fee and sometimes wouldn't even take a payment from me. His total concern was that I stay healthy and know that he was there to keep me that way.I have referred many people to Dr. Fennely and every one of them is so pleased and call to thank me for the referral.
