Dr. Caroline Ann Lodato, MD

CL My first encounter with Caroline Lodato was last year when my elderly and frail mother was in the hospital. This bizarre woman was the attending physician. I asked her over the phone how much my mother weighed at the time. “Why do you want to know that?” was her response. I was floored. I simply did not know what to say beyond the obvious. I was very worried and wanted information. When I met with Lodato at the hospital, she gave me an odd explanation about how she liked to assess a family situation or something to that effect. She also expressed here sorrow and dismay that she had offended me. All this she delivered in a breathy, ever-so-sincere tone of voice. Perhaps it was my vulnerability at the time, but I somehow accepted her essentially nonsensical story. Early this year Lodato took over the practice of our long time family physician who hand picked her. This was a mistake, as I have found. Lodato puts on a fair act, but her instability and self-involvement eventually show through. My doubts about her grew with each office visit. Particularly distressing was her staring sorrowfully at me and telling me that she was very worried about me and that I was in her prayers. This is not what I want from a doctor. It is unprofessional to say the least Lodato had some strange theories about my health. Suffice it to say I have rapid-onset ALS. In a few months I have gone from slight dizziness to nearing paralysis. Lodato has been of no help, but has resisted letting me go as her patient. Last week she actually made a house call. She expressed concern that I was depressed and a danger to myself. In itself, this was not a totally unreasonable thought concerning a person with a fatal and unpleasant condition. But I am an intelligent adult, and her patronizing, accusing, and sermonizing tone became insulting. My sister and a medical aide were present to witness this performance. The situation concluded with me very vociferously telling Lodato that she was no longer my doctor and that she should leave my house. But she was slow in doing so and tried to get back in. The last to see her was my aide, who said Lodato approached her in the parking lot, waved limply, and murmured in a little girl voice, “He fired me.” Caroline Lodato is a loose cannon who should not be in family medicine. Avoid her.

The best of the best as a professional and a human! I am a nurse and had a privilege to work with her at Greenwich Hospital. We all miss he a lot.... Now, I am thinking to switch my primary care and made her my new primary care doctor! She is truly one knowledgeable and caring doctor!

I was an oncology hospital inpatient three years ago when Dr. Lodato cared for me at time when I was very sick and vulnerable. Dr. Lodato’s warm, calming, empathic demeanor is only paralleled by her intelligence. Dr. Lodato is an outstanding physician and individual who goes above and beyond the call of duty; she looks patients in the eyes, gives them all of her attention without distraction, and does anything and everything she can to provide the best care as well as the best treatment.

Dr. Lodato cared for my father while at Greenwich Hospital. She was thorough, diligent, and compassionate throughout. Our family will forever be in her debt for the medical care and the time she spent with our family, as we navigated our father’s end-of-life medical needs and options.
