She is the best! Very thoughtful, thorough and explains the situation as she goes. I have to get an injection periodically and I have had others but her technique is the best!

The experience with Carolyn Chen was deplorable at best. She did not know that I am a medical professional and treated me with an attitude of disdain as though I had brain damage and did not have the capacity to understand anything she said. She attempted to convince me to (without informed patient consent) to QUICKLY CONSENT an extremely radical surgical procedure with SEVERE RISKS (including blindness) and REFUSED to discuss the details of the procedure and the SEVERE likely RISKS. She was so confident in her ability to lure me to consent without being adequately informed that she, in fact, made ALL the arrangements for the surgical procedure BEFORE she LIED by telling me that I desperately needed the procedure. A second doctor opinion revealed that she was completely and totally wrong and her motives for recommending the procedure were strictly of financial incentive. In my professional opinion, Carolyn Chen at Houston Eye Associates deserves to have her medical license revoked until she becomes re-educated and proves herself by conducting herself and her practice in the best interest of the patients. Carolyn Chen does not deserve the trust of any patient.

Dr. Chen was very friendly and genuine! She explained my issue with my sight very well, discussed options to deal with it, and was frank with the pros and cons. I enjoyed my visit with her and felt at ease having her over my care. Will definitely refer others!

Dr. Chen is truly a professional's professional as she is obviously a dedicated surgeon/ophthalmologist. She also has a fantastic staff that works with her and every single person I encountered during my ordeal was truly an exemplary professional.

I credit Dr. Chen with saving my eyesight when I nearly went blind after cataract surgery. I cannot rate her highly enough!

Dr.Chen has horrible bedside manners. Each time a patient is speaking, she turns to the patient's chart, types, and makes comments to staff in the room. There is evidence based research that proves multitasking is not effective. In return, this can lead to mistakes in patient care. Dr.Chen cannot provide appropriate education to a patient either, which leads to a breakdown in care. She does not utilize appropriate resources for this. For example, a patient who has memory problems due to health issues, she will tell them about their treatment/diagnosis in the office and send them home with no information for other family members to review with them to follow through with appropriate steps. Sometimes family members cannot be present to listen due to outside factors. It is inappropriate practice and I would not recommend anyone to this doctor due to the lack of care and issues that arise.
