Dr. Lederer is among the nation's most experienced and skilled eye surgeons for the treatment of advanced a glaucoma. That said, there is no sense of arrogance or aloofness in the man. He is a calming presence; and he is genuinely concerned. I have been seeing glaucoma specialists for over 25 years (having been diagnosed when I was in my late 20s), and of the many specialists who have treated me, Dr. Lederer has been the most adept at explaining medications and procedures. He is also exceptionally patient. (I don't eavesdrop habitually, but voices carry in the quiet of an exam room.) The doctor explains particulars with care and understanding to persons who are quite elderly and who are struggling with, no doubt, an array of physical and cognitive difficulties. He's an excellent physician.
