Horrible experience. After my knee replacement my knee keeps dislocating. He would not acknowledge my complaint throughout my recovery. I tryed to get referrals from him to see another surgeon to see what was going with the knee after the surgery and he never submitted the referrals He new he did something wrong and finally refused to see me any more. 50k later and knee still dislocates

Dr. Soma has poor surgical skill and poor post-operative management.

Due to Dr. Soma's poor surgery, my wrist was further damaged beyond the original break and I was forced to have remedial surgery to repair the damage caused by his incompetence.

Chuck should have his license revoked, as he is very a shoddy and careless surgeon.

I'm very thankful for the treatment received by Dr. Soma! He went above and beyond to come up with solutions. My surgery and recovery went well. I definitely recommend Dr. Soma for shoulder and knee surgeries, he saved me from being permanently crippled. The staff was caring and effective, it's a busy place. I can see why now Dr. Soma is in such demand. If you are fortunate enough to get accepted as a patient, the wait times are the least of your concerns. You want good results, and good doctors on Maui are in demand.

Got me in last minute so I could schedule a surgery before the doctor left town. Still waiting on my surgery date confirmation.

I found Dr Soma to present a very reasonable approach to my shoulder pain, recommended physical therapy and when that didn't do the trick he advised me to have surgery which has solved my problem. I understand the logic behind his decision making and his explanations were clear and understandable.

Great Dr I have seem him before and like his right to the point way. I hate when Drs sound unsure of what they think needs done Dr Soma always tells it like it is. And surgery scheduled in less then two weeks. Only complaint is long office wait but then he spent plenty time with me and explained everything.

Dr Soma is the most dedicated hardworking & knowledgable Orthopedic Surgeon that we here on Maui have the privilege of seeing. This man is busy & in high demand. Another 'genius dr' mishandled my arm horribly & thanks to Dr Soma I should have full use of my arm. If you are looking for the best Orthopedic Surgeon you will find call Dr Soma. I would recommend Dr Soma to friends & family, truly anyone I cared about to get the absolute best treatment. PS everything was explained to me & my husband before surgery & my follow up appointment from his office staff was faxed over & handed to me in the hospital before checkout!

good communicator and excellent injection technique, painless really

Dr. Soma is a very knowledgeable and a straight to the point kind of guy. I had a torn ligament and after seeing 2 other doctors who suggested me to go on physical therapy for 10-12 months (and basically be on pain pills as well), and then decide if I should go through surgery (who wants to go through that?), Dr. Soma gave me an accurate diagnosis, answered all my questions, and gave me the confidence to put the future of my health and well being on his hands. Not to mention I didn't need to go see an orthopedic specialist outside of Maui. Basically, I was able to recover quickly and go back into sports progressively after 3 months post-surgery. As an athlete myself, that is priceless. I would highly recommend Dr. Soma to anyone who needs orthopedic care.

Dr. Soma answered all my questions and treated me with respect and kindness. He displayed a professional yet personable personality which made me feel comfortable with him and his diagnosis. He appropriately referred to an excellent Phhysical Therapist. I am pleased with my progress and that I have not had to have surgery on my shoulder.
