Dr. Christopher Gene Kalhorn, MD

I must begin with the end. Third spine surgery. First(2008)and the third (2023) Lumbar surgeries done by Dr Christopher Calhoun. It's just hard to put into words. I don't think they're are any words or enough to express this man! Truly a very unique individual, of HUMILITY, empathy & compassion mixed with an extraordinary level of knowledge, skill and experience. To put the icing on the cake topping everything off grandly is, his Principled Love for any & all people!

Both my husband and I had surgeries. We are both doing great and our quality of life has improved tremendously. Dr. Kalhorn took care of us all the way until we completely recovered. He and his staff are always available and reachable at any time. His bed manners are excellent. We feel we were very lucky to have had him and his staff to take care of us.

A body isn't just a machine to this man. My DBS surgery went flawlessly, but the most impressive part, in my opinion, was Doctor Kalhorn's personal devotion to his patients. He was compassionate, attentive, and (in spite of being at the very top of his field), humble.

I couldn’t have picked a better surgeon. First visit he suggest not having surgery. Several years later, surgery was necessary. Recovery went well and now I have no back problem.

Great surgeon technically and the best bedside manner to compliment his technical skill and abilities!! If I ever needed to have ANY SPINE/BRAIN SURGERY, I would only want Dr Kalhorn to do it!

Dr. Kalhorn performed two surgeries on my husband following a bad fall. He was very compassionate and professional during the entire process. I felt that we were in the best place we could be in considering the circumstances. I would recommend him to any one that needs neurosurgery. His office also followed up with us after we left the hospital to ensure everything was okay.

Not only did he meet with me promptly, he continued talking with me after his office closed. His associates were friendly and supportive. I've never met a doctor with a better bedside manner.

As long as Dr. Kalhorn is a practicing neurosurgeon I have no worries. I was hesitant to have back surgery again even if it was to control my CRPS. After meeting with Dr. Kalhorn, I wouldn't want ANYONE else to have done my surgery. I always walk away saying he is the nicest person and he makes sure you are comfortable with everything that will be done to you. Every step of the way was made easy. From his office staff to the hospital. The care he provided all across the board was great...from in the office to pre-op to in hospital care and follow through. Out of all doctors I have gone to, he by far has the best bedside manner and is the total package of what you want. All my fears of having back surgery were gone. All has been a success...Because I am in safe hands.

Excellent bedside manner, excellent staff, excellent surgery outcome. I was referred to Dr. Kalhorn for surgery. He made my family and me feel secure before and after surgery, calling and checking in with me personally to answer any questions.I'm not from the area and contemplated going back to my home state for surgery, but I felt I was in such good hands with Dr. Kalhorn at Georgetown that I decided to stay, and I am incredibly glad that I did. My surgery was successful, and I am completely satisfied with both Dr. Kalhorn's skill and compassion. I will also add that the post-surgery nursing staff at Georgetown are also fantastic.

Dr. Kalhorn is an excellent surgeon. I was experiencing difficulty following surgery, and he was not quick to rush me out of the hospital, and either he or his back-ups checked on me daily. I can certainly understand why he was voted most compassionate. That, combined with superb skills, made for a good outcome and recovery despite what was very serious surgery.

I'm so blessed to have him as a surgeon for my daughter. It's a miracle that my daughter is alive today. Thank you Dr. Kalhorn. You are the best!

There are Doctors and then there are healers. Dr. Kalhorn is most certainly a HEALER. Dr. Kalhorn saw my son just days after he was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus. He was very kind, gentle and easygoing...he answered all our questions without the slightest hint of annoyance or superiority. The day of the surgery, I watched my son go unconscious from the anasthesia and I broke down. Dr. Kalhorn walked me to the area where I would be waiting and consoled me the whole time. Brain surgery is not something that is flippantly done or without complications...and as a mother of a 3-year old who had been repeatedly misdiagnosed for over a year by his pediatrician, developmental pediatrician and others...Dr Kalhorn was a most sympathetic man and doctor. I trusted him with my son's life, and he returned to me my son...who has greatly improved with his development since the surgery.

Very nervous about have brain surgery! Single mom. Dr. Kalhorn was honest and up-front. He was kind and has the best bedside manners of any Dr. I've ever known. I was educated on my condition, the risks and what I could expect during recovery very early on in the diagnosis. Post-op appointments continued to be as informative and curteous as the pre-op. I felt very secure in Dr. Kalhorns hands as would recommend him with 5 gold stars!

Unfortunatley I have seen several neurosurgeones over the years and Dr. Kalhorn is very professional, had wonderful bedside manner and really is a truly great doctor. We need more like him in this world.
