Professional staff, great doctor

Everyone in the office is helpful always. Dr. Vu is outstanding he explains everything and is sympathetic and understanding. He has a simple approach kindness to his patients.

Excellent retina care specialist. Dr. Vu provides deep bench expertise and shares various alternative treatment and care options and works with the patient in arriving at the optimum path forward. He is also someone with great personality and humor and relates well to those under his care. Recommend him fully!

After waiting 2 hours, the consultation lasted "five" minutes. The explanations given to us were not enough convincing. When we called, we mentioned clearly that the cause of our call was because of a chalazion that I had in one of my eyes. To our surprise, Dr. Vu told us that he was not specialized in this topic even if it is a quiet common ophtalmological issue. So after putting in my eyes a vasodilator and making other tests/exams on my eyes (that I didn't asked for), the funny thing is that Dr. Vu never explained to me "the why" and the "outcome/conclusions" of those exams. He quickly gave us the name of 3 other colleagues in order to consult them for a follow up visit. A real waste of our time and money.

The office is back to its usual courteous, thorough and professional approach in my eyes.

Patient Rating for Dr. Cuong D. Vu, MD, The Retina Group of Washington (RGW) I highly recommend The Retina Group of Washington and in particular Dr. Cuong D. Vu, MD. Dr. Vu is following me for early stage macular degeneration. RGW has exceeded all CDC and other medical guidelines to protect patients and RGW employees from COVID-19. Dr. Vu maintains contact with my primary care physician and ophthalmologist. He prescribed and monitors my daily test using the Foresee Home AMD monitoring device from Notal Vision, Inc. For five months only emergency patients were seen in the office; regular appointments were conducted via telemed. Staff conduct telephone health checks prior to scheduled in-person visits. A staff member sits at the door and conducts another health check including temperature reading prior to entering the practice’s offices. Mask wearing is strictly enforced by all RGW and patients. Social distancing is managed with strategically placed decals on the floor. Staff continuously disinfect all contact services. All RGW medical staff are well-trained and highly communicative. They describe what tests they will perform on your eyes, why the tests are important, how you should feel during the tests, and any aftereffects to the tests. They are effective and efficient being respectful of the patient’s time and the smooth operation of the practice. All RGW office staff have similar attributes. In addition, they are always kind and friendly.

thats what he does he tell you the truth whether its good or bad its always the truth i know this because i wasnt taking care of my eye and thought he wouldnt say anything boy was i wrong he just told me that i had to take better care or i might lose the use of it it was just what i need to hear to get my act together and get with the program after all i am the one who loses if i dont take care i really appreciated the wake up call and his honesty

In the times we presently live in, I've had a lot of time to think about what's important to me. My health tops the list and Dr. u is central to my goals in this. I have been traveling from Fredericksburg, VA to Bowie, MD for the past 6 years. It's not a short trip, but it's one that I make willingly. In my lowest health issues, Dr Vu saved my sight and continues to help navigate through my issues with skill and patience. I do my part to make sure his part works! But without his skills, my part would mean nothing. I give Dr. VU 5 stars because in a word...he is EXCELLENT!!

I have been seeing Dr. Vu for many years and his treatment is excellent. He has a wonderful, easygoing way of interacting and always takes the time to explain his findings, etc. and answer medical questions.

If I could give this establishment, particularly DR. CUONG D. VU a negative rating, I would. That was possibly the most terrible, distasteful and tactless experience that I’ve had with a Doctor to date. He was extremely curt, insensitive, inconsiderate and graceless for a medical professional in the business of dealing with people. People with medical issues at that. Dr. Vu, you absolutely cannot be in the business of dealing with people and lack social skills so severely. The experience with you was a disgrace to the medical profession and good doctors everywhere. I absolutely regret this visit and will be finding another Retina Specialist. DO NOT SEE DR. CUONG D. VU. I definitely don’t wish this experience on anyone else.
