Dr. David Widiah Koury, MD

Saw him recently at his new location and I was there for about 2 hours if not more! The lobby wait wasn’t bad, about the normal amount at a Drs office, but after the nurse got done doing my vitals and other things that she did, the Dr. didn’t come in and see me for like 40 mins. I was his only patient at this time. Once he was in there he went over something’s with me but while he was doing so, he looked confused as well and when I asked a question it was like he didn’t understand what I was asking. So I just gave up so I could hurry up and leave. I’m glad Mayfield got a Neurologist, but I won’t be going back.

he is the worst ever im glad to hear that he is leaving everytime i go see him he wants to give me some kinda test like mri and take me off meds that are good for me also he stands there do not even look at you in the face why talking to you he looks at the ground

He is the worst doctor I've been to. Sadly, he is the only neurologist in Glasgow, KY. He doesn't listen to his patients at all. Won't take you off any medication that he has prescribed no matter how bad the side effects are. Stopped seeing patients in his office as soon as the covid-19 hit even though there were very few cases in the county for months afterward.

I went into this neurologist for keeping up in my meds for epilepsy Dr koury overwhelmed me with questions I couldn't even answer he acted like I don't know what a seizure is made me feel stupid and degraded this was my first visit being learning disabled would think be a bit more understanding . not so judgemental

Spent more time on his phone than listening to me. My pcp referred me because she believes I have Trigeminal Neuralgia and he didn’t even pay attention to what I was saying because he was on his phone. I repeated myself many times. His nurse came in and he went out to talk to her and came back in and asked me questions he already asked. He was definitely not focused on me. He didn’t do anything and told me to come back in 6 months. Not a chance.

I took my mother to him because her PCP suggested that she see a neurologist. He was on his cell phone 3 times, got several text messages and a nurse come in during the visit talking to him about updating his phone. I think his phone was more important than my mother was. I told him he was rude. I would no t suggest him to anyone.

First off reading other comments I have a pain mgmt provider so I don't need Dr Koury for prescriptions. I had a major grandmal seizure and had to be taken yo the ER. I was instructed by the ER to contact my Neuro doc the next day to make him aware of my seizure. During the seizure I fractured my back and have a neck injury. When I called the office the next morning I was informed he was slammed with patients and couldn't help me. That was almost 2 weeks ago and I have yet to get a call from him or his office. Instead my pcp took care of me and has given me the care that I needed. One would think there would be some concern here but obviously NOT

This doctor is excellent and does not waste time, chit-chatting. Gets to the point and answers any questions you have. Don't let his serious, quiet look deceive you. He's a hard worker and if you ask for something, you will get it usually. (not a big narcotic pusher...go to pain clinics if you need that) He's tried multiple remedies for my husband and "listens" to all his problems. Even answers my (the wife's) questions about him. The people who rated him one star are just angry because they probably have too much medication already from other doctors and he can't give more that will react against what they are taking. Just ask him whatever....he will answer. Great doctor. I like his seriousness.

He didn't remember me from my first visit 10 days earlier. He was rude and abrasive. Would not prescribe anything for my agonizing condition leaving me house bound and virtually bed ridden for 2 years. I was diagnosed with Parkinsonism, Fibromyalgia, Degenerative disc\spine Disease, 20 years ago. Now he has diagnosed DYSTONIA on top. This condition is agonizing, ALL CONSUMING and he offered no treatment at all. I made the mistake of moving from another state to KY to retire because of a lower cost of living but never expected this low quality of care. I'm certain I will find a neurologist that has a compassionate soul. Hopefully soon.

Not only was this doctor rude, completely lacking in empathy and bedside manner, and absolutely full to the brim with his own intelligence, it turns out he was also absolutely wrong in his diagnosis, prescription choice, you name it. We got copies of his records, which were totally skewed - as if he was making notes on the other patients in the waiting room with us and mixing everything together. I don't know where he is now, but hopefully it's somewhere with low human interaction.

He helped me and my son a lot.

Dr. Koury spends a lot of time with me and is VERY thorough. He reviewed and explained tests well.

This is the most inconsiderate doctor I have ever been to. No compassion for his patients and acts more like an FBI agent interrogating you and he had me leaving his office in tears and I just had major surgery a couple weeks prior to his visit by another doctor. If you are looking for a knowledgable and compassionate doctor, this is NOT your doctor. You are better off going to Gadsden, Huntsville or Birmingham for your neurological health concerns.
