Dr. David Wilgarde has been a resident of the Coachella Valley for the past 25 years. Dr. Wilgarde received his medical degree from Wayne State University and completed his residency at Sinai Hospital in Detroit in Internal Medicine, Physical Medicine, and Rehabilitation. He is board certified in several medical specialties including internal medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, electrodiagnostic medicine, and a sub-specialty certification in pain medicine. He has always had a special interest in bioidentical hormones and has been trained by Dr. Neal Rouzier.Since moving to the Coachella Valley in 2018 Dr. Wilgarde left Desert Regional Medical Center to become the lead physician at Preventive Medicine Centers in Palm Springs, California.  After completing 96 hours of training with Neal Rouzier MD and also successful completion of the 500-question hormone optimization test, Dr. Wilgarde took over for Dr. Rouzier at the clinic he started in 1997.  The patient
population still continues to thrive under the trained guidance of Dr. Wilgarde.  Dr. Rouzier continues in the role of Medical Director and continues to be the go-to expert for our more complex cases.  Dr. Rouzier retired from seeing patients and center his energy on training providers in the art of bioidentical hormone optimization.  Preventive Medicine Centers continue to serve as the go-to medical center nationwide for patients interested in bio-identical hormone replacement therapy that uses Dr. Rouzier’s method which is focused on natural replacement using plant-based and compounded formulations that are diagnosed and monitored by David Wilgarde M.D.  Due to the nature of testosterone being a schedule 3 controlled substance we must see every new patient for a one-time in-person visit.  We are able to continue care using telephone visits since hormone therapy is not a specialty that requires an examination of the body but an in-depth look at blood tests and then a question and answer between doctor and patient.  We are conveniently located within walking distance of the Palm Springs Airport (PSP) for that very reason.  You will be able to do your initial blood work at a LabCorp in your area and see Dr. Wilgarde 5-7 days later when the test results are final.  We also provide a very detailed letter from Dr. Wilgarde about 10 days after every visit so you can keep a detailed paper file on your progression through the world of hormone optimization and the medications you are on.  Follow-up labs can also be done at a local Labcorp so there is no need to continue to visit Palm Springs unless you prefer in-person follow-up care.
