Dr. Derek Lee Snook, MD

I hurt my back and basically stopped walking. I saw a dr who had no clue as to what was wrong with me. Then my neighbor referred me to Dr Snook. He was the only Dr who listened to me and all my concerns. He told me that my spine was slipping and I need surgery. I’ve gone back to work as a nurse. With PT and surgery I’m walking everyday.

I was referred to Dr Snook from Dr Morris at New Albany as an injection in my hip did not help. I saw Dr Snook for all of 5 minutes, he looked at my xrays and said I needed to try physical Therapy. I went to PT faithfully, my therapist wrote to him asking for a another prescription for a different area, of which he did not reply, I was dismissed after 8 sessions as therapy was not helping, only adding additional pain. A report was sent from my PT 4 weeks ago and I have not received any contact at all from Dr Snook.

Dr. Snook is the Bomb :) Honestly, he literally saved my daughter's life. She had severe scoliosis with a double curve (like a big S) an 83 thoracic & 30+ lumbar degree angle. It was so bad that her rib cage was being pulled away from her spine. I said Good Luck at 8:00 am & didn't see her again until 9:00 pm that night. I would highly recommend him with & I literally trusted him with my daughter's life. That was in 2006, she was only 13. This year she will be turning 23 :)

I really appreciate Dr. Snook diagnosing my condition and also setting me up with Dr David Ryan a terrific chiropractor.

Please get a second opinion if this surgeon has said you need surgery!! My husband who is 45 and very fit went to see him and was told he absolutely had to have a lamenectomy after seeing the mri . This man has a bedside manner of a rattlesnake. A friend of my husbands is a surgeon as well so he asked him who he would recommend in the neurologist field and he said Dr. B in Westerville. Well he saw this surgeon today and he said absolutely not to surgery at my husbands age and good health without trying steroids and therapy first!! He expects his herniation to heal completely without surgery.. $$$$ is my best guess especially after seeing all these horrible reviews!!

I suffered an injury to my back after a car accident and fractured and dislocated my tailbone. After 2.5 months of physical therapy I was unable able to walk without my sciatic nerve shooting pain down my legs. The pain is usually worse early morning and by 3 pm. I'm not big on narcs so just take otc to help amd ice and heat my back. After 8 months the pain still lingers endlessly. I went to go see Dr. Snook to discuss spinal injections since it had help with my knee and wrist injury. He scheduled a MRI to see if there was any other damage and found that I have disc desiccation and a herniated disc causing spinal stenosis. After the injection I came back for a follow-up. I explained to him the many adverse effects the shot had on me and was completely dismissed. He said I can't help you anymore just ice heat take otc and do more when i could do less when i couldn't....Seriously!!!! I could had keep all my money and just do what i had been all along!!! Also, after much research I discovered what i experienced as side effects were quite common for women. How could he not know this!!! He is the Dr for Petes sake. He should have disclosed there effects and at least given me the option....highly not recommend Dr. Derek Snook.

I would never recommend dr snook. Nice only if you consent to surgery. Sfter surgery npt so interested. Promised no pain when I wake up after surgery. Terrible pain 4 months later. Find someone else

Stay away!! Refuses to fill out required paperwork for insurance or Worker's Compensation. Terrible "physician."

I was experiencing terrible back pain and all this dr. said was, why are you here seeing me? I should have read his reviews before I accepted the appointment. Sad, very sad!

My family doctor's mother had back surgery done by Dr. Snook so I felt confident when he recommended Snook to do my surgery. My first visit to Dr. Snook was timely, professional and he was courteous. He gave me options other then surgery but I opted to have surgery. He performed a complete laminectomy and diskectomy on my lower back. My follow-up office visits were timely, professional and pleasant. I would recommend him to anyone that needed spine surgery.

My experience was "wham bam thank you mam" I'm a 74 yr old lady that has had 4 successfull back surgeries and a cervical decompression. My recovery has been excellent. Over time however I have developed some arthritis which is to be expected. This Dr seemed somewhat uninterested and referred me to PT...seems like putting a bandaide on a problem that was insignificant to him. I don't know what I expected...I'm used to older more seasoned physicans that listen and care.

I went through multiple specialists to ease the back spasms i was experiencing. Dr Snook was able to stop my back and neck spasms. The staff was very courteous and when my health care provider was needing additional documentaion they were very prompt in returning calls as well as the files

i very much like dr.snook , i think he is a awsome doctor. i have sent many of people that has had the same problem's that i have had to him. i will continue to give him a very high rank. my surgery was very bad , i went threw alot also having to call code blue on me was very scarry for me and my family. but threw all that i went threw ,dr.snook was right there all the time. in time with all the pain i went threw i realize how dr. snook saved my life in all this. for that i'am very greatful. i would highly recamend him to everyone.

I was amazed at how quickly I was able to obtain an appt with Dr Snook when I was in horrible pain. I was also able to get an MRI the same day, which was a big help. I am very thankful that he scheduled me for surgery within days. His staff is extremely professional, very nice and responds quickly to my calls for prescription refills. I wasted years seeing another doctor who spent lots of time chatting with me, but accomplished nothing, so I will gladly trade "bedside manner" for getting the job done correctly. I have no problem recommending Dr. Snook to friends or anyone with back pain, in fact we already have. I thank God for guiding me to Dr. Snook and his staff.

I cannot stress enough how good his bedside manners are. He is sincerely there to find and treat the problem. He spends time and makes sure you understand what is going on with your body and how he is going to treat it.

Nothing like having an elderly mother fall at 5AM New Years Eve morning. I was very pleased with Dr. Snook. He was clear in his diagnosis as well as how he felt it best to proceed. He took into consideration my mother's age so that the anesthesia would not take it's toll on her. Like many busy doctors, he has assistants. I felt they were competent and caring, getting the job done. I have no problem recommending Dr. Snook and his associates.

Terrible terrible terrible!!!! I went to see this dr for a bwc injury he was so mean to me, i started crying right in the exam room, he filled the papers out for me and threw them at me and told he was not a clearinghouse dr for wrkrs comp patients.

I was looking for a doc to check me out for degenerative disease 16 years after having Harrington Rods and spinal fusion for scoliosis. I was assured before going by the staff that Dr Snook was very familiar with scoliosis and the complications. I made known to everyone I saw at this facility that I had issues with my neck and lower lumbar including proof that my curves were still progressing, and issues above and below my fusion and rods. The x-ray tech didn't know what she was doing and took 5 x-rays of only my mid back. The doc said he saw nothing wrong me and advised me to take over-the-counter pain meds. He did NOT view my previous records, x-rays, current x-rays that didn't show the issues I was referring to or anything in order to make the diagnosis he did. I asked about exercise and he prescribed PT. I received the RX for PT, but it was for another patient. I had to go back in and get mine, but was given a work excuse. I again had to ask for my RX. This was a complete disaster, waste of time and unnecessary radiation exposure. I contacted the office manager to make sure I can get my co-pay refunded and that they don't bill me or my insurance company. I hope he follows through with what he said.

This doctor is horrible. he gave me more problems after my surgery than I had to begin with. his bedside manner is horrible and he is rude and he lets his assistant handle most of the follow up care. he let me swell up so badly that now I have all kinds of nerve damage. Do not go to this man.
