Dr. Donald Kenneth Wantuck, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Wantuck for several years. The reason I titled this 'A Doctor' is because that's just what he is. Sure there is a limitless number of Dr.'s but only a few true ones. Dr. Wantuck is very compassionate and perceptive as well as being a 1st class Pulmonologist. I saw him for COPD and sleep apnea and he was never hurried with me. There was always time for a joke or questions about my overall well being. How special is this doctor? Let me tell you. I was seeing an internal specialist, Dr. Goddard. I had been sleeping in a chair for over eight years because of back pain that drugs didn't help so I asked him for a hospital bed prescription. He took my husband and I into a small room (no nurse) and had us set down. Then he started berating me. He asked who was I to ask for a hospital bed and did I really think the taxpayers should pay for me to have one? Some people think the world owes them a favor. We could only hang our mouths open and I felt the blood rush to my face as he went on. What has this got to do with a review for Dr. Wantuck? Let me tell you. The next appointment I had, Dr. Wantuck could right away see I was upset as Dr.? Goddard is in the same office. He asked me several questions and finally my daughter and I told him what happened. A look came over his face and he immediately wrote me a prescription for a hospital bed. This is a Doctor. This is what a Doctor does. This is why I love and respect him. I am truly sad he retired and I miss him but hope he is happy. Christina
