Dr. Erika Elizabeth Degayner, DO

I had a colonoscopy by Dr. Degayner. Her personality is excellent and very personable and likable. Her staff is also very attentive and on top of things! Highly recommend her!

Dr. DeGayner was very professional and thorough during pre and post procedure. The entire staff was very detailed explaining each step leading to the procedure and answered any questions. My only concern was Dr. DeGayner was an hour late with no explanation and I was the first patient.

Dr. Degayner is just that doctor. I recently went through a very difficult time after having my shoulder replaced. For some unknown reason, either from an allergic reaction to the anesthesia, stress, or because of six months of oral steroid treatment for a lung condition, my digestive system shut down. Dr. Degayner was the only physician that stepped up to help me figure what was happening to me. She and her staff were kind and patient with my many questions. Every test and result was explained to me in a manner I could understand. It took months before I was back to normal. I think I would have had a breakdown had it not been for her help. She did not give up on me through this entire ordeal. She also does my routine colonoscopy. I have never had any problems with her or her staff. Yes, the staff is quite boisterous while you are waiting for your procedure, but they make sure that every patient is comfortable and well cared for before and after the procedure. Dr. Degayner comes to the room to talk to you and your family. It is not a short visit. She does not leave until all your questions are answered. One of the best doctors out there.

Dr.Degayner is a great doctor, she is kind, helpful, and knows her stuff!!! I'm 67 years old and she is the best doctor I've ever had!!!!

Dr DeGaynor has done many of my tests and has also been excellent at explaining the results. Has also diagnosed me quickly . Very happy with her care.

I'll just put tape on my mouth and keep my opinion to myself. Outsiders are asking why when It is 2019 these two are perforating patients.

Dr. Erika Degayner was great. Made an awkward situation bearable (colonoscopy). She was quick and thorough. Answered all questions.

Resulted in emergency surgery and she was almost argumentative when she followed up. McClaren claims they did an investigation, but ironically won't share it with me.

Hospital staff and office staff fine, Drs. paid no attention to symptoms or solutions, just obviously had to unrelentingly not contradict another McLaren second rate physician. Recieved a call asking to rate my ex- perience, and I stated the above, knowing all to well it would be ignored as the question about why Degaynor has been perforating so many, and also rude and disrespectful to a patient who made me promise not to let these low lifes talk me into the fundiplication he had, only to state when he was hospitalized for oral and rectal bleeding, "Why is this my problem" Good people to stay away from, Mclaren at work once again.

While I recognized that my condition required a diagnostic scope, I was surprised that a scope was scheduled before a first visit/before a diagnostic visit. As I knew the scope was indicated, I scheduled as requested. I did get to meet Dr. DeGayner before my scope, but it was IN the scope room after I was already placed on my side and a flurry of activity was occurring with all the staff prepping me. Dr. DeGayner did take a brief history of sorts, but as I told her my symptoms, she cast an askew look at me indicating she did not believe the symptoms I reported went with the request leading to the decision to scope. She interrupted with information regarding how I must treat my reflux. Seems my history was not important. She had NO background history of how this might fit into the rest of my health condition. Due to the interruption of how to treat my reflux with lifestyle treatments (which included obvious chastizing about my overweight status) she indicated we would just scope and get the results. While she did not actually say that she thought my scope would be negative, I got the impression that this quick scope would be easier to just do than to talk to me. Her interaction was abrupt, ascerbic and probably condescending. A bite block was placed in my mouth. The next thing I knew I woke up and said "I am awake. Is it over?" and was told yes. We returned to the recovery room. After some waiting, Dr. DeGayner came into my room and said: "Well, there were some findings." She quickly told me the findings and quickly went into her assessment of the cause of my condition, required follow-up, medications and home care instructions. I indicated I did not believe the cause she attributed. I had other health conditions, not ever reviewed that would potentially cause both my condition and cause a challenge to me in following the instructions. I tried to bring it up. I guess it sounded like an excuse(s) because she quickly interrupted with a statement that shocked me: "That's your problem, not mine." She continued to quickly bowl through her spiel. After my questions were shut down, I realized I was not sure why she recommended some of the follow up that she did. She indicated there was no "pill" that could be used to treat me. With that information and the lifestyle information she recommended, I realized I did not understand why further testing was indicated if no further treatment was available. Without being able to ask further, I ultimately called my regular physician, scheduled an appointment and will hopefully be able to understand better. While I do not doubt Dr. DeGayner's skill, she is NOT aware of an underlying condition that DOES cause the condition she found on my scope. Because the crucial information is missing, I do not know if Dr. DeGayner's decisions would change if she WAS aware of further information ... medical history IS important in diagnostic and treatment plans. Furthermore, I am not clear on HOW to follow her advice based on my other conditions. To clarify, I do NOT care a single whit that she was abrasive, doesn't seem to like working with a significantly overweight person or that her bedside manner sucked. What I DO care about is if her attitude affects her diagnosis, her plan, my understanding and my ability to do the best to take care of myself. THIS TIME, BEDSIDE MANNER AFFECTED CARE. IT PROBABLY AFFECTED DIAGNOSIS AND IT MAY HAVE AFFECTED FOLLOW UP as NO discussion and sharing of ideas could occur. Dr. DeGayner, if you have the blessing to read this, please learn one thing (I know this sounds ridiculous to you as I am sure that I, a mere patient, have NO knowledge of how to best perform your job; after all, I cannot simply Google and get all of your knowledge!) collegial interaction with your patient may lead you down a different path of thinking and may allow you to consider something you did originally think of. Don't limit your skills by lacking the ability to interact. Thank you, Dr. DeGayner. I do plan to continue to work with you. I hope that if you know who I am this will be an invitation to a better interaction. I hope this does not create any animosity that would make me need to find a new provider because I do NOT doubt your intellect or skills. I do appreciate your time and your care.

Yes, it is a risk, but she perforated my colon during a routine colonoscopy and I ended up having emergency surgery which in one day altered my life. Listening to the inane conversation of the nursing staff while I was writhing in pain in recovery did not help.

Dr DeGayner has done 2 colonoscopy. She explained and asked and answered questions before procedure. After talked to me and my husband about results and said you call the office with any abnormallies. She was so nice and polite. I trust her completely. I would recommend her to everyone.

She is very professional and caring and nice to look at, I will recommend her to anyone. She makes me feel like we are friends.

I adore Dr. Degayner personally - however I find her staff uneducated, rude, and completely non-responsive. I have to call to follow up on ALL of my treatment plans - they never initiate the call. When I questioned the lack of response, I was told they are a "very busy office". This also means you will rarely be seen promptly. She will never make you feel like you are rushed as a result of that though. I do appreciate how aggressive Dr. Degayner's treatment plans are but I find that she rarely factors in the cost to the patient and will order thousands of dollars of tests without blinking an eye.

Saw Dr. De Gayner in the hospital and was very happy with the amount of care, time and concern she showed for me. As a nurse as well as a patient I thought Dr. De Gayner was excellent.

Rude doctor! Treats her staff very poorly, to include screaming at them in front of her patients. Its not something I like to see as a patient.
