Dr. Gavin Nicholas Van Staden, MD

Amazing Doctor! He doesn't sugarcoat things and gets to the point. I don't want a Doctor who is afraid to tell the truth because they might offend me. Those Doctors are hiding behind the facts—very kind and understanding. Thanks for always being honest.

He was very polite but not friendly and seem to be in a hurry to finish and get to another patient. The wait time to see him was about 25 minutes and he spent less than 10 minutes with me. I asked him a question about Thyroid medication and he told me to make another appointment to discuss that with him.

I was referred to him by the best of the best hospitals in the state…The University of Utah Ed on medical drive gave me the BEST experience EVER. Referred me to Dr. V (for vampire), in his Farmington facility. WORST experience of my LIFE meeting a new doctor. I agree with all of the opinions of what a monster he is.

I only saw him once and I don’t plan to ever see him again. Extremely rude and condescending. Wouldn’t listen to anything I had to say and treated me like I was stupid. Don’t waste your time with this doctor!

Worked with this guy, the epitome of bi-polar, nice and courteous one minute, arrogant and horrific the next. Would not trust this guy.

He talked down to me whole ten minutes I saw him. Told me my back pain was in my head, which I told him right up front that wasn’t the reason I was there. I have a specialist I see for that. He then went on to say that the reason my back doctor does procedures on me that work for me, is so that he can get rich. What a jerk

Waited 20 minutes to get in. After MA checked over info, he came in now 30 minutes past my appt. was very condescending and arrogant.

I saw Dr. Van Staden for quite awhile. He went from being very nice in the first few visits to being horribly judgmental and rude to me on my last visit (hence, it was my last). Then, he tried to text me later to see how I was doing. Very weird experience. I suspect he's bipolar or something similar. I've never experienced such a change in treatment and personality from a doctor for seemingly no reason at all. And no, I was not seeking controlled medication of any kind, so his behavior cannot be attributed to him being fed up by a drug seeking patient. I do not fit that profile in any way shape or form-- I used Dr. Van Staden as an overall wellness care provider (gynecology, colds and flu, etc.). I have no idea why he acts this way and suggest he seek treatment himself.

very easy to work with. He explains things very well and has a very good bedside manner. Very knowledgeable on a wide range of medical issues.

Dr Van Staden is a caring and teaching doctor. I can always ask questions about my health or treatments and he will take the time to answer until I understand. He will always make a plan to get one in for an appointment when it is urgent. He involves me in my health care decisions. I cannot recommend him enough. He does do some addiction treatment and as you can see from reviews below, when people don't get the drugs that they want from him they can be very mean in reviews. In my experience he is not a drug dispenser but will give you what you need.

This guy is bad news! He doesn't even deserve 1 star! Trust me don't put your health is his hands! I agree with the other reviews he has to be bipolar because he's all over the place with his moods.

Dr Van Staden was recommended to my husband and I by a family friend and we gave her a heartfelt thank you for that recommendation after our first visit with Dr Van Staden. For the first time in many years I felt the trust and comfort of dealing with a truly dedicated doctor. He solved a condition I had been suffering that had been dragged out for over 4 years with a dermatologist and is ever willing to help in determining any problem, always with a positive determining diagnosis. He is so friendly and interested in our well being that we always look forward to seeing him. What doctor do you know of in this day and age that will make a house call if necessary? None that I have heard of in many years. The longest wait time we have had was 5 minutes. The staff are courteous and helpful and the office environment is very warm and inviting.

Extremely rude and hurtful emotionally. He left me in tears after a simple check up appointment. Made uninvited comments regarding my low weight out of the blue, which had absolutely nothing to do with why I was there. He is arrogant and rude. No wonder I never see any other patients in his office.

I wouldn't recommend this doctor to my worst enemy. Too bad I had to even give this one star. People are absolutely right when they say he has multiple personalities. When I first started seeing Dr. Van Staden, he was courteous and friendly. His demeanor quickly changed over a course of a few months, he became irritable and judgemental. The last straw was when I went in to see him, I was told I had no copay because of my insurance and what I was there for, yet over a period of two months, I owed the office hundreds of dollars somehow because of NOT paying a copay. Dr. Van Staden then came out and began yelling and shouting IN THE LOBBY at me, stating he was "not a bank" and that he's "basically loaned me hundreds of dollars" because of not paying a copay. I had no recollection of having to pay, and even the doctor's assistants told me that I didn't have to pay one. They fumble over and go back on their words, and then try to make you look stupid. He can't expect to keep patients when he treats people so poorly and unprofessionally.

A total wast of my time and money...By far the worse doctor appointment I've ever had & for sure my last visit at this office!!! I am a 28 year old disabled woman who was resently injured badly. So, My appt. started out normal, with a nurse taking my vidals, writeing down the reason for my visit, getting some of my medical history and my current medications. 10-15 minutes later after the medical assitant/nurse leaves my room then doctor walked in. He introduesed himself as Gavin, then started asking me questions.He was extreamly rude to me while asking the questions.I was answering to the best of my knowledge and ability. (It felt like what I'd imagine being interrigated would feel like.)I told him that I am disabled. He looked at me strange and with a expression on his face of disbelief.Then he said to me, in a very sarcastic, rude tone... "what makes you disabled?" so, I told him to the best of my ability, what all my disabilities/diagnoses are.I was trying to answer all of his questions and felt very rushed by him. I couldn't finish a sentence before he would ask me another question. I was trying my hardest not to burst into tears or cuss him out. It felt like i was being backed into a corner and verbally attacked. It took all I had in me to stay in that room and not storm out of the building upset and in tears because of his rude words, offensive facial expressions/body language, and his little smug, sarcastic remarks. He rudly then said to me "you should not be on disability, you don't look very disabled to me." Then said to me..."why do you think you and people in your immediate family all have these same disorders/conditions?" I was very upset, dumbfounded, in shock, and very angry that a doctor that I am paying to see for help because i was resently badly injured in a accident, would say these shallow offensive, discriminating things to me...? and in such a smug, sarcastic, whitty tone. fallowed by these ugly,discusted, disbelieveing- like facial expressions/body language.I found this man to be very offensive and unprofessional. Also, to top it all off, he didn't even look at or try to treat or give me useful information about my very painful resent injury witch was the whole reason I made the appointment in the first place!!! HE'S A JERK AND A JOKE AND I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYBODY!

Biggest jerk I've ever met!!! You go to the doctor to help get tapered of a medication and he would rather you go cold turkey then put you on a more addictive drug like suboxon. He treats you like you are a horrible person and that you have hung yourself his words!!!

Seeking suboxen treatment for help in quitting illegal opiates. At my first visit to Dr V, he refused to help me by writing an rx b/c of my dirty urine analysis (first visit!!) I understand completely if this was 2 or 3. I am not sure he understands the purpose of suboxen, which for those of u who don't know, it's to GET OFF opiates. So my question is this... Why would u write one for someone who has a clean urine analysis?! Society wonders why we keep using. Im having a harder time trying to find someone to help me than it is to find illegal drugs. :(
