i’ve been waiting for the doctor to call me back for almost 2 weeks now. Every time I speak to secretary they tell me I’ll get a call back but never get one back.
I initally made the appt after I read the positive Google reviews, then later was alarmed by all the one star reviews on Vitals but decided to keep the appt anyway. I went here today to get bloodwork done. After I filled out the paperwork, the doc and front desk staff member asked why I was there. I explained the bloodwork I wanted, that a regular gyno had told me to see a high risk obgyn, who told me nope, I need to see a regular gyno. "so why don't you see your regular gyno?" Dr. Dunn asked. I said she's not available for about another month, plus she's not my 'regular' gyno (I don't have one), that I only went for one visit. Dr. Donn told me that my insurance wouldn't cover this visit bc I had already seen another gyno (btw, turns out she was wrong.) I said, why didn't anyone ask me this over the phone? "Oh we don't have the time to ask people questions over the phone." I explained it takes the same amount of timefor her to ask the questions over the phone...without wasting two hours of my time to get there only to find out they didn't want to see me. Then they said "insurnace won't pay for you to have the same tests" and I said - I just told you, I never got these tests. A prevoius gyno had told me to see a high risk gyno, who told me to see a regular gyno. No apology for wasting hours of my time (commute plus wait - time I could have spent actually being productive). When I said I'm pretty certin my insurance covers this, instead of calling the insurance company, they said I could wait and see the doc but ...having already read the many reviews on Vitals, seeing they had no qualms about wasting my time (having me come all the way there when they could have asked me on the phone before if I had seen another gyno, which it turns out doesn't even matter at all), that they gave me incorrect info (that my insurance wouldn't cover this), and they didn't even bother to call my insurance before incorrectly telling me my insurance wouldn't cover it (I later did, and my insurance company said, "we absolutely would cover this visit." )made it 100% certain for me that I did not want to have any further interactions with this office.
Outdated office, dismissive doctor who doesn't take extra precautions with pregnant women who display signs of preeclampsia, or miscarriages. I witnessed her send a woman who was clearly in labor home because "the machine" said that she wasn't in labor...Yeah no privacy or respect for patients smh.
I was a patient of Dr Donns from 4 mths to 8 mths gestation. I felt my prenatal care was taken of from a medical model yet on a personal level there was alot to be desired. The staff were friendly and approachable but I felt Dr Donn was very impersonal in her approach to me and it felt very businesslike which is very unsatisfactory especially in the context of pregnancy. I would often wait up to 40 mins to see her then she would see me for 5 mins max. I informed her one time that I was feeling quite down and tearful and she quickly dismissed me by telling me to seek a therapy. On my following visit she never even asked me how I was feeling. I found this to be very unprofessional and careless especially due to the disclosure I had made to her the previous visit. On what would transpire to be my final visit, she informed me I was putting on too much weight and asked me what I was eating. I had been weighed with my heavy winter boots on and winter clothes and when I protested this to her, she completely disregarded me. I left her office tearful and very upset. That is when I decided to change my ob gyn which may seem ludicrous been that I'm 35 weeks pregnant but the thought of her helping me deliver my baby made me feel very nervous. I would certainly not feel comfortable
As soon as i made my first-time appointment. Dr. Donn greeted me kindly and asked my ethnic background. Then started to go on with how horrible the “mannerisms” of my country is. As well stated, “Egyptian girls are skinny what happened with you?” This is my first time going to see her and felt extremely hurt by her comment. Also, she asked “why didn’t my parents marry me off” I, as a social worker found that to be unbelievable and very unprofessional. As well, i was Requested by her to get a sonogram. However, i have no pain. I asked them, when can i receive my blood test and Pap smear results? And was told after my sonogram. I will not receive my results until i get my sonogram. Which this is a violation of HIPPA and i will file a complaint because it is prohibited to not give clients rights to their medical records.
I donâ??t have a problem with doctors who are straight to the point, as long as they are meticulous about their profession. From my experience, I felt Dr. Donn didn't take my symptoms seriously, and was dismissive. She didn't like to be questioned and often seemed discombobulated. Furthermore, as for empathy, itâ??s definitely out of the window. I went to go see Dr. Donn today, in regards to some discomfort and red flags I have been experiencing lately. She gave me her unwanted advice about my hyphenated last name. She continued to explain why I should stick to one (Unbelievable). Now since, we got that out of the way. I gave her a brief history and what I would like her to look for. The so called examination took less than 1 minute. I was confused, and assumed she would use an ultra-sound to detect if anything was wrong. She said, I need to be seen by a doctor and to book another appointment. To my understanding she is a gynecologist. She said, she doesn't like using â??these machinesâ?? and itâ??s only for her pregnant patients. I was genuinely worried. She told me to get to the emergency room. I was completely flabbergasted and put my clothes on. She didn't say a word, not even bye. This is my 1st visit and last with Dr. Donn
Dr. Donn is straight forward & wastes no time. She is very blunt so if you cant take a strong personality & hear criticism (if needed sometimes) then she's not for you. However, please know this woman is very very knowledgable & intelligent st what she does. She doesn't play around. I had multiple problens during my pregnancy & she caught them, treated them, & watched me & my baby like a hawk! If she didn't, then I would've lost my baby. She took very good care of me and my baby and I wouldn't go to anyone else now.
Dr Donn is my obgyn with second pregnancy and i must tell the only thing that i dont like is a weigh thing she is upset with putting too much weight everything must be as book says.other than this she is a good doctor i am sure she cares about me and my baby that is true that sometimes questions are annoying her but i quess i am used to it already
Regarding the title of the reviewâ??I'm trying to be positive, but that's all I can come up with. On second thought, here's another: it appears she has a very devoted husband who responds to the numerous negative reviews she receives. [FYI, Mike, you're not doing Doctor Donn any favors; answering her reviews makes her look as uncaring as she actually is, and it's also just plain weird. As you are not present at appointments (unless there is a hidden camera), your opinion or explanation of why the appointment was unpleasant is irrelevant.] Wait, here's a THIRD accolade. I was indeed impressed with Dr. Donn's ability to compress countless insults, reprimands, and condescending commentary into an appointment with a new patientâ??about whom she knows nothingâ??and that lasts less than five minutes. In that five minutes, she did 98.5% of the talking. When she seemed to realize I was unimpressed and clearly slipping out of her mercenary fingers (remember, she does have a penchant for pricey fashions), she did attempt to be humorous, then to compliment, but alas, it was too little too late. There is no reason to tolerate doctors who don't listen to patients, who treat patients like they're stupid and ignorant, who are judgmental without knowledge or cause, and who don't take the time to ask questions and thoughtfully consider patients' responses. Unfortunately for all of us, healthcare in the US has become, like everything else, a business. Patient-centered care is a myth. The sooner practitioners like Dr. Donn realize that doctors are no longer put on a pedestal by the majority of patients under the age of 60, and that arrogant, tactless, impatient and discourteous behavior is not good for business, the better.
I did not mind her as a routine checkup doctor but you definitely need someone who is willing to spend more than 2 minutes with you when you're carrying your first baby. I seriously wanted to stick around with her hoping that her demeanor would change but she was rude, constantly rushed (despite the fact that there were no more patients waiting for her that day), and just didn't seem to care about me. Never asked any questions, never gave me any guidelines as to how to care for my pregnancy, and when I shared the things I read online, she said I shouldn't believe everything i read. Well so how am I to learn? I would not recommend her to anyone unless you want to feel like you're an item on an assembly box. Not to mention the high charges/per visit, the 'recommended' prenatal pills which are supposedly better than the stuff I got over the counter (I compared ingredients later and my pick was much closer to recommended dosage guidelines), and the fact that she wanted to see me every two weeks (when my other doctor said once a month with healthy pregnancy is sufficient). She charged my insurance $600 per visit with sonnogram, where a reputable doctor in Manhattan charged me $325 for the same thing. Of course I'm fully responsible for paying the $150 that my insurance didn't cover (of course- considering how preposterous the charge was). Her office also insists on collecting co-pay for every visit despite the fact that I'm not supposed to have to pay for my routine pregnancy visits (needless to say, my other doctor never asked me to pay co-pay). Can you spell 'cash cow'? Oh yes, and her Elmhurst office is a total mess, Dirty, disgusting, with stinky bathroom and I couldn't wait to get out of there as soon as I got there, which wasn't too tough considering that I never spent more than ten minutes with doctor Donn at the time. Yes, I was a loyal patient for years, but my baby deserves better. We all deserve better treatment from our doctors and there are many out there that have not became jaded and unhappy with their jobs over the years.
I never met a doctor so rude and confused with her patients. She gets very annoyed with questions that were being asked and never wanted to get back on time with my result. I hope she doesn't continue being an OB/GYN and give patients to go to a better physicians. Disappointing.
Every time I see Dr. Donn I am impressed with her professionalism and knowledge. She clearly keeps up with her specialty in her off time. She has always listened to my symptoms and done her best to help me understand them. I would recommend Dr. Donn to anyone that is looking for a goo Ob/Gyn.
I read the Dr. responses and the reviews thoroughly. I wish that the doctor I chose for my first pregnancy was an over all 5 star doctor but sadly this is not the case. Dr. Donn I feel has her ups and downs. I have spoken to her when she seems overwhelmed and I have seen her when she's quite calm and collected. So I do see both sides of the reviews. Overall Dr. Donn has not given me a reason to change doctors. I feel like she's helped me through some issues accurately diagnosing and taking care of it. (even though the first time around was no help, the second round she took more attention to my issues). She has a few things that work against her like the incredibly long waits to see her. I understand her responses are that she gives each patient the quality and attention they deserve however if she adapted her schedule to fit these needs she could eliminate the long waiting issue. Just a thought! I feel in the end Dr. Donn has your best interest at heart and like a friend of mine once said, "many people would love to have a beer with President Bush but let's face it you probably wouldn't want someone like Bush running the country again." all in all I found a doctor not a friend and I'm perfectly fine with that, I just want a healthy baby and smooth delivery.
The staff is pleasant. There's plenty of parking nearby, and the office is near subway and bus lines. Dr. Donn has been practicing for many years and it shows. She always knows what problems I'm describing. I trust her to make the right decisions about my care. She hasn't let me down.
I have been seeing Dr. Donn for many years, but have only now decided to write a review. I have always found her to be very understanding of my needs as a patient--and what could be more important than that? The waiting room is always full--she must be doing something right! Yes, often times you have to wait half an hour past your appointment time to see her, but she gives you the same time she gave the patient before you. The staff is very friendly, and the office has been fixed up a bit since I last went.
Do not expect this doctor to ever eetuebtoue call. I called twice and left a message asking for a call back and got nothing. I was with her for years but the above comments and my own bad experience will make me change my gyn
Dr. Donn took a rather long call during my visit and was not at all empathetic even though I was in a great deal of pain and excessively bleeding. She made me feel like I should have known better and have had an ablation to treat my endometriosis, instead of asking me if any other GYNs had ever suggested the procedure to me, which they had not. And, instead of explaining what the procedure was, she told me to go home an look it up on the Internet. Lastly, when I asked her to document the reason for my visit in the form of a doctor's note for my employer (4 days of excessive bleeding and pain), she would only provide me with a note to cover my visit. It is my opinion that she is unprofessional and has no people skills. Needless to say, I would not recommend her. It's no surprise that Dr. Donn asks for co-pays BEFORE she sees patients, otherwise she'd never get paid after treating her patients so shabbily.
No patient, yelling pt to take off clothes quickly and saying there is no time. I never saw doctor like her. She should be more gentle, kind & supportive to any kind of pt. after all she is a Doctor. So, what's the use of being Doctor if the Doctor doesn't have the COMPASSION & LOVE for the pt. And another thing was that when i asked her if there was any disease as soon as i done with pap smear test at that very day, because i have little pain on right side of abdomen. She was confident to say that i don't had any problem on that very day & told me to come next year, which i realize later that the result of pap smear will know after 2 or 3 weeks, cause it should first take to the lab for examine. So how come she knew the result on the spot. As a Doctor, she should be nice & helpful to give every possible information to understand the pt. in a positive way, not just to assume. I am sorry to say all these things. Actually,I don't mean to hurt her feelings. But then if i keep quiet like that, then there will be no improvement & changes. And later this might happen to other innocent pts in future too. I would like to request her to have some changes. I hope & pray that it won't happen to other pts too in future. Thanks
This is my first pregnancy and my sister in law referrred me to Dr. Donn and I'm glad she did because she's so understanding of my problem and always takes concern. Her nurses are so nice and they listen to any problem I have and pass it down to Dr. Donn so that she can tell me what to do
Not the nicest doctor, doesn't seem to care about her patients' feeling, and pregnant women have a lot of emotions. A little warmth and understanding, a little sensitivity, would go a long way. Her nurses at the Brooklyn office are harsh and mean. I feared them and left her office in tears. She did do a thorough job though, and that is the most important thing.
