I am so privileged to have had Dr. Fogel for my physician and surgeon for his last year of practice. Dr. Fogel has it all knowledge, professionalism, patient understanding and etc.

I can’t say enough about Dr. Fogel and his staff, especially Jennifer. They are there for you and do everything possible to help. Not impressed with Dr. Fogel. He may have been a competent surgeon in his day but I did not have a good experience. After communicating directly with him via email for a coccygectomy consult and sending a HUGE packet of imaging and workups prior to my surgical consult AND then flying from out of town for the consult he walked in the room as if he'd never heard of me and said "What can I do for you?". He had not reviewed ANY of my paperwork prior to my arrival and pretty much had zero knowledge of my very involved case or symptoms prior to me walking in the door. He started initially saying how he didn't have time for the detail involved in my appointment. I told him nicely that he had to make time given how much time and expense I had spent to come to the appointment. He finally conceded under duress. I had follow up testing his office ordered and was not contacted to go over results. I had to initiate all that WEEKS later. Questions were not quickly communicated or answered through the portal or otherwise and Dr. Fogel appeared to not be in good health when I saw him in clinic. He's nice enough but I started having huge doubts about this rare, detailed surgery and follow-up care at this clinic so I decided to go with a younger neurosurgeon that was not past his prime. I feel this doc needs to retire. Spine surgery is serious. You need the best. Sadly, I found this doc sorely lacking. He apologized but too little too late in my opinion.

Just had a regionsignificant fusion in lumbar. Dr Fogel was outstanding in his care and communication thru the process. I am recovering well . Dr Fogel has followed up on me several times personally. I highly recommend Dr Fogel I don't think you can find a more skilled surgeon or more compassionate doctor.

You won't go wrong if you choose Dr. Fogel to correct a spinal problem. Two previous lumbar surgeries and other procedures relieved radiculopathy and cramping in my legs. But I ended up with severe neuropathy in my feet caused by the pinched spinal nerves. I looked up Dr. Fogel after months of PT, shots and other procedures failed. After reviewing my CT scan, MRI and nerve function test, he said he could help me out. He performed a "revision" surgery to correct a problem that developed after the fusions. Voila! Within two months, my feet are finally improving and the sciatic pain is mostly a memory. The frayed foot nerves appear to be regenerating, and I'm walking 3, 4 and 5 miles now with only a little discomfort well into the walk. I couldn't make it around the block before. Furthermore, Dr. Fogel's beside manner is top-notch. He won't shoo you out of the office in 10 minutes. He easily spent 30-45 minutes explaining my images and answering all my questions in every visit.

From the first visit I was impressed. Dr Fogel listens to pain description and understands how you the person is feeling. His staff is wonderful and knows their job well. Jennifer is great, she keeps you informed, calls you back when she says she will. I was blessed to be referred to him. Thank you

Dr. Fogel is an excellent surgeon. I was referred to him for a C6/C7 disc bulge that was causing stenosis of my spinal canal. Needless to say, I was in extreme pain, especially on my right side. He preformed a discectomy w/ implant on 15 Sept. I was pain free the next day. My recovery has been without any major issues and I am back to my normal activities of daily living. I would recommend Dr. Fogel 100 times over! I want to also acknowledge his staff and the surgery center staff at Christus Santa Rosa. The entire process was seamless!

From the time you walk in the door to the post-op visits everyone in the office greets you with a smile. Professional, knowledgeable and I got back right away with Dr. Fogel. He’s excellent takes a lot of time explaining what’s going on with your spine and step by step information on what needs ti be done. Would recommend the office to anyone who needs help with their back.

I totally agree with every review I have read about Dr. Fogel. I had been in pain for a number of years, followed by pain doctors with injections every few weeks. When it became difficult and painful for me to walk to my front door and unable to stand while cooking, I was done. Dr. Fogel explained thoroughly what he thought the problem was and how he could relieve my pain. As a registered nurse, I have always been afraid of back surgery, but I must admit, Dr Fogel calmed my fears. Surgery was easy, short recovery and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

I'm really happy with the results of my lower spine surgery. No more pain. Dr Fogel is an expert at what he does.

I found Dr Fogel to be an exceptional surgeon that provides wonderful care. He always explained the details regarding my spine surgeries, and limitations while healing in understandable terms. My questions and concerns were addressed at each visit with use of X-rays and MRI results. My everyday function has improved due to Dr Fogel’s care. I normally don’t take the time to leave comments, but in remembering I had read several comments from prior patients of Dr. Fogel, it’s important to help others make a decision of, “question” if they are wondering if Dr. Fogel can help them or if they can trust their backs or vertebrae with his care. The answer to both is Absolutely Yes and without further hesitation. I’ve had numerous doctors from around the world as I have travelled being a family member of the Army. I’ve always sought doctors/professors/ surgeons of the highest caliber, from such locations of top rankings such as Stanford, John Hopkins, Europe, UCLA Medical Center, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and The Cleveland Clinic. Not every graduate Physician with a MD degree is good, let alone considered Great. I can say this with the highest level of experience I have from being in and round top notch Medical Doctors, Physicians, Surgeon’s and Practitioners that Doctor Fogel is of the highest Caliber and could easily work beside, with, or for any of these top Notch locations. His knowledge is second to none and “Spot on”! He is passionate about healing and caring for his patients. It doesn’t take him a long time to troubleshoot your problems and recommend the best medical solution. He really knows how to, “End Pain”! That’s the part about him that I refer to as, “Miracle Hands From God”! I suffered for over eight months with a Sciatic Nerve that was being pinched. I had gone to three other surgeons who wanted to refer me to Pain Management because they diagnosed it as, “simple and common”. From there, they just wanted to do costly and painful steroidal injections every so often, and put me on pain medications that actually keeps their payroll books looking full and contributes to their mortgage payments (being real). I was actually told by one pain management doctor, “we don’t focus on or care about why you’re in pain”. I had made appointments to go back to Stanford or UCLA to see a surgeon who would diagnose and treat to heal me after calling them on the phone. They offered immediate remedy. I kept saying that there should be someone in this big city of San Antonio who could look at my MRI and Fix what’s causing this enormous pain without me leaving. I got on my computer one night and luckily saw something advertised as, Pain Be Gone and a Doctor Fogel, MD. I sat up reading the reviews. All but one was very good. The one that gave him a lower score wasn’t about the surgery, but about miscommunication of medication after surgery and I thought, “who gives a hoot about $$ of medication miscommunication, what about the Surgery”, I said to myself. So I went in to see him. Dr. Fogel was pleasant and sympathetic to the severity of my pain and reassured me that he could take it away. I was amazed at the urgency he displayed. He ordered a current MRI and an X-Ray and told me not to worry. I was rescheduled after the completion of my tests and he was Spot-on even before seeing the test results. The results were a confirmation of his knowledge and I knew I could trust him. He didn’t try to push me off to pain management or steroid injections, but did himself, prescribe a few pain pills to hold me until I was on his books for surgery. The day of surgery went as he had told me and my spouse. He talked to me immediately before they wheeled me into the surgery room. His words were, “You ready to end that nerve pain and get back to your regular life”? I said yes and he told me, not to worry, this is “easy for me”! My heart felt comfort. My spouse told me, hey honey, I don’t know how or where you found Dr. Fogel, but he’s got you cause he’s the best! When I woke up, I felt no pain. Of course I was still under the remaining I-V meds but 4 hrs afterwards, I still felt no pain in down my leg. My spouse said Dr. Fogel talked to him immediately after surgery and said to him, “ I got it, I got all those things that were causing your wife pain and she won’t hurt there anymore”. He also had sent a prescription to my pharmacy to handle any minimal surgical pain. Wow, he thought of everything. He even scheduled for a physical therapist and nurse to come to my home for care (based on your Ins approval), but he took care of everything. It’s been three and a half months and, no pain. The surgical pain was gone in 4 days, but Dr. Fogel left that Sciatica Nerve pain on the table, needless to say. The pain that ran down deep into my buttock, down my leg all the way to my ankle- gone!! It was the best decision I made in trusting Dr. Fogel. He gave me my life back. I’m back to gardening, swimming, playing with my grandkids, and unlimited lifestyle. Physical therapy did teach/remind me on the proper ways in using my joints/muscles in the body. If you are in pain and you are skeptical about trusting Dr. Fogel, don’t wait, don’t delay. Allow Dr. Fogel to restore your life back. Give him the chance to prove to you that he can help you and trust his “Miracle Hands From God” to heal your body.

So thankful to have found Dr. Fogel! He listened to me, answered all questions I had, and explained everything in detail. So grateful to have him as my doctor!!

Dr. Fogel is fantastic. Wasn’t sure what the outcome was going to be due to the condition of my stinosis, but the BEST outcome happened. I owe more than words can say to Dr. Fogel.
