Dr. Guy Joseph Petruzzelli

Dr. Petruzzelli has great bedside manner and makes patients feel very comfortable during pre-op. However, my post-op care was non existent. After my tonsillectomy surgery I was told to use Tylenol and Motrin instead of being prescribed adequate medications to control my pain. This prompted severe dehydration, a 13 pound weight loss in 7 days and a second surgery where I refused to leave the hospital without adequate follow-up care. However, his office staff are far worse. I was laughed at multiple times on the phone for having concerns about my healing before my second surgery which proved to be great questions considering a second surgery was necessary. I was also to be seen 2 weeks after my surgery for follow up but the soonest they had available was 4 weeks out and not even the nurse would look at me sooner. Then when that appointment neared, they cancelled it and pushed it out another 2 weeks. I was never seen for a follow up appointment after my surgery. I am thankful I am also in the medical field or I would not have known what to do. I have colleagues who looked at me instead to ensure I was healing correctly. I would avoid this office at all costs, I 100% regret having my tonsillectomy surgery done here.

He calmed my fears about my mother!!!

Dr. Petruzzelli was mine and my mother's doctor. I will never forget him. He was great with her and with our family. He has wonderful bedside manners. He did a beautiful job on her tracheostomy (trach) tube. My mother gave him nothing but praise. With the help of the Lord, he saved her life.

I was diagnosed stage 4 (Last stage) of Mouth Cancer with regional metastatic, He did my first surgery in 2006, today is 2018, He took care of my health. He is a man, who have me new life. He spend time and very friendly. Ultimate Doctor and Great Human being. I do not know, how come some patients are complaining about him? That is absolutely wrong. If patients following his protocol then never be in trouble.

Dr. Petruzzelli was sued several times in the Illinois courts and still has one suit pending as of May 2018.

So much i can say about this wonderfull doctor. I’m so sorry he left the Chicago area. Thank you so much for saving my husbands life. 20 years and still going strong. You are the best. I had a mass on my vocal cord which was first dx in 2013 & in March of this year I began to have chronic hoarseness. I returned to Dr Petruzzelli who then did surgery. I could not have ask for a better physcian. It was to be done as an outpatient, I had a procedure done in May by another physcian and had complications. I ended up admitted to the hospital for 12 days, 10 of those in CCU my specialist of 10 plus years never showed the concern or compassion as Dr Petruzzelli. Dr Petruzelli came no less than TEN times to check on me in recovery to be sure there were no complications. I thank God for Dr Petruzzelli there are not enough stars to rate him!!!!

Does not provide solutions for concerns or complaints. Consults with patient for 3 to 5 minutes then refers to another specialists (waste of time and money). As I patient I would like to have felt a genuine patient provider relationship. I was rushed and my concerns were brushed away.

Always felt I was in excellent hands with respect to the overall care. Surgery was highly satisfactory from begining to end under his care. The unfortunate and sad part of it all was Dr. Petruzzelli's relocation. I am not able to continue my care with him. If I was able to afford to travel to continue my care with him, I would.

I was in Dr. P's study in 2005 at Loyola. I am doing great, 11 years. Dr. P. was awesome in every way. Thank you Dr. P. You will always be in my prayers.

He is the best ENT surgeon in the area and I would recommend him to anyone having cancer in those areas.

dr petrocelli saved my life while his surgical skills enabled me to have a better quality of life.I could only imagine what a less concerned and less skilled surgeon would have done to me. I am grateful for him and his excellent staff. They are the best.

I am today writing because i am alive. Most doctors said to me that i cant survive more than eight month (10 years back). Only he said you , you can....he proved that He is a Genius Doctor and apart from it he is a great Human being. Gem of person. Today this world needs more than 5000 Doctors like him.

I rate him at the top of all doctors I've seen. He takes the time to explain, suggest, and give you options you can understand.

Went to Dr. Petruzzelli twice. He made it very clear he did not have time to answer any of my questions nor did he care. Spent less than 10 minutes in the room and walked out while I was still talking. He may be a knowledgeable & capable doctor but that does not excuse his rude attitude. His support staff was just as inconsiderate, especially the scheduler who made my appointment.

I know I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Dr Petruzelli. Without a drawn out story, he saved my life. It's been over 6 years years now after removing tumors from neck and throat, stage 4A. To me, he'll always be Saint Guy!And he laughed at all my corny jokes

He is the best of the best. My husband and I can not tell you how confident we feel with Dr. Petruzzelli. This is my husband's second head and neck cancer and we so wished we would have been under Dr. Petruzzelli's care from the start. What a mistake we made thinking we didn't want to travel into the city.

I have an odd lump in my neck. It has been felt by a dozen doctors. Some have said "connective tissue," some said "fat deposit," some said, "maybe a lipoma." Doctor Petruzzelli said "I can't feel anything." "It's right here," I said... I could feel it clearly. He said, angrily, "You don't have any lump there!" After arguing with me for 30 seconds, he begrudgingly ordered a CT scan and stormed out of the room. His nurse called me a few hours later with "The CT showed no mass in your neck."I've since been to another ENT who said he doesn't know exactly what it is, but he said it's not cancer and nothing to worry about. That doesn't excuse Dr Petruzzelli's attitude when I went to visit him.

These are the facts. Dr. Petruzzelli told us, without reservation, that my mom did not have cancer. He even demonstrated by manipulating the tumor in her mouth, "See if this was cancer, I couldn't do this." He told us to come back in 3 months. In that time, I am thankful that our diligent dentist told me to get another opinion. You know how this story ends. He was wrong.

I have a very rare cancer and have had several more surgeries than we originally thought I would need but I am alive and cancer free thanks to Dr.P!
