I had a laminectomy in October of 2013. When recouping at home, the meds Dr. Hwang prescribed for me were not working, & actually made me sick. I called many times to get something else prescribed. At this point I was willing to come in & see him. At no point did I get a call back from ANYONE on something new I could take. This went on for DAYS. I hurt so bad I couldn't even see straight!! Wasn't sleeping & thought I was about to loose it. I ended up going BACK to the hospital I had surgery at. I ended up getting admitted for 13 days at a Psychiatric Hospital in Bellaire where Dr. there got me figured out on some relief. I don't think I have ever hurt as bad in my life, & I've had many surgeries since then. He fixed the problem, but what I went thru was inexcusable & I would never recommend him for this reason alone. I had to be in a Psychiatric hospital & during a holiday at that. Will never recommend or ever go back to him. A good Dr. doesn't make a patient suffer like he did me!!! Wish I could give half a star!!

I saw Dr Hwang in a vide visit yesterday regarding a deep ache from shoulder to shoulder, headaches and paralysis of my hands If I lay on my side. I informed Dr Hwang that I had already seen a shoulder specialist and a hand and arm specialist and they both said it is my neck. Dr Hwang still decided to tell me that he doesn't believe it is the neck he thinks it is an extremity issue. The hands do not become paralyzed bc of extremity issues according to two separate shoulder and arm/hand specialists. I think Dr Hwang is best suited for an ER surgeon since he seems to only be able to diagnose and treat severe easy to diagnose straight forward issues. I will be cancelling my next appt and scheduling with a different surgeon simply bc I have no confidence in this mans ability to help me.

I’m so glad I chose Dr. Hwang to operate on my Spine. He did an Excellent job and I was up and walking the first day after Surgery. It’s been 3 weeks since the Surgery and I have no pain. What a relief! Thank you Dr. Hwang!

As a new patient, I found Dr. Hwang to have an arrogant, dismissive, and extremely poor bedside persona. He cut me off multiple times while I was trying to explain my condition, & dismissed my history of pain like it was nothing. After reviewing my x Ray he became confrontational and completely devoid of any compassion whatsoever. Even as I was still asking questions he was literally walking out the door. I was in shock! I also had a detailed meeting with a patient coordinator as I was leaving, and she never called me like she promised or even followed up to confirm my next appointment......which was disappointing. Even though I followed through with the MRI appointment, as soon as the results came back, I had my records sent to another doctor. Don't waste your precious time or money on this doctor, you will be doing yourself a huge favor!!

Dr hang has extremely Poor bedside manner he wanted to jump right into surgery seemed very uninterested in trying anything aside from surgery. He cut me off often when I tried to explain my s/s. His Nurse didn't return my calls, I'm an RN so when it comes to returning calls and patient care that's very important to me. The front office staff was nice.... If that matters to any one with a herniated disc and severe sciatica...
