Dr. Hugh Franklin Smisson III, MD

Dr.Smisson has done three of my surgeries and has been very clear in explaining what was going to be done and what to expect afterwards. He gets to the pain so that you can get on and live your life pain free.l recommend doctor Smisson to everyone that says they have back pain.

I was told about Dr. Sisson about 3 yrs ago from my now Daughter in law. Dr. Smission performed her neck surgery and had great success. I had gotten to the point that I had to have something done to my lower back , I had two Ruptured disk . So in the spring of 2023 , I made the 120 mile trip up for my first appointment and I really liked him and his staff. So in June of 2023 I had surgery and had excellent success. I highly recommend Dr.Smisson and his team they are very professional and friendly. Thank you Dr. Sisson for helping me.

He did great job on back surgery and got me into shepherd center in altanta for rehab.

He's very nice. He's understanding. And he gives you the time that you need to talk to him about your treatment

Dr Smisson, and his staff, have been impeccable through my daughters journey. She sustained a broken back last month in a MVC, which was two days before her high school graduation. While in the hospital she had her cap, gown, and chords hanging above her bed and they took a brief moment to acknowledge her (it may not seem like much, but it meant everything to her) and congratulate her. Surgery went well and she is on her way to recovery. We are forever grateful for his expertise and support during this time. I would highly recommend him and his staff. (AND he has a great bedside manner - it’s not often you find a neurosurgeon with a sense of humor! He’s definitely the whole package!)

When I first came to see Dr Smisson, I was mostly bed confined and could barely walk and in extreme pain. He determined I needed surgery since I had vertebrae that had shifted and collapsed onto the nerves in my lower spine. The surgery went well that day and I walked out around noon. It has been a year since my surgery. I am much improved. I have rheumatoid arthritis and know I will never be like I was 20 years ago but my quality of life is very much improved. Dr Smisson was the answer I was looking for. He was always caring and concerned with a very pleasing bedside manner. I have nothing but respect and praise for Dr Smisson

On May 24, 2023, Dr. Hugh Smisson did a Lumbar Myelogram with post-Myelogram CT. A day before my procedure, his nurse called and explained in detail the protocol for the procedure. Dr. Smisson is the best Neurosurgical physician that I have ever seen & I saw several before I found Dr. Smisson. He and his staff genuinely care about their patients & are always ready to answer questions when you need assistance. Dr. Sisson listens to my concerns and responds in a caring way. When I leave his office I am comfortable with what he has told me.

So far I’ve had two appointments. First one was the initial appointment after having an MRI done. The second was for a Myelogram. Dr. Smisson and his staff are the best. So professional, friendly and caring, always making sure I was comfortable and putting me at ease. I’m so grateful that I went with Dr. Smisson. He’s the real deal. Highly recommend!

I was admitted to Atrium Navicent Neuro ICU after a nighttime fall getting up from bed resulting in a brain bleed, a sub dural hematoma. Having never had s traumatic injury like this, I was so afraid. Everyone from Dr. Smisson, to the nurses and technicians were so reassuring, letting me know what I might expect in my care. Easy to make an appointment- had to wait a little while but office was comfortable- dr was very nice interested in my problem and listened - the prescriptions he gave me did give me some relief from the pain until they can see what is wrong with me

My visit was peaceful.Staff is courteous and smiling.My Dr. shook my hand and assessed my pain areas.He assured me I would be cared for asap .And that did happen!I am pain free.
