Do NOT and I repeat, do NOT go to Dr. Choo! I wish I had seen these reviews before I saw him! The worst experience of my life! He wouldn’t even meet with me until he put me to sleep 3 times and did an ablation on the right side of my neck. He never once put his hands on me to examine me, but was more than happy to schedule me for a procedure every other week for 3 months…WITHOUT diagnosing me with chronic pain! I was told to just take Tylenol. When I questioned his money making tactics? He refused to speak to me. All I got was a letter stating I no longer would be a candidate for his care!!!! Unbelievable!!!!! He doesn’t care about YOU. He cares about MONEY!! I don’t know how he got good reviews here. Look at the Google reviews!!

I have been a patient for 4 years. Today I was treated for an unrelated issue. As always very satisfied. His practice has only gotten better. His staff is phenomenal. They are very professional, courteous and kind.

All this doctor & nursing staff care about is NOT prescribing opiates. Now, I do agree that most treatments should be utilized prior to starting opiod therapy. However, I came to this clinic after another Knoxville State licensed Pain Clinic (meaning neither were pill mills but were sanctioned by the State of Tennessee) shut down out of the blue leaving approximately 1800 chronic pain patients, cancer patients & terminally ill patients without continuation of care! I’ve seen him ONE time in 2 years. I had to do occupational therapy & I am on Federal Disability. AND you have to do whatever they recommend or no opiates for you. They put me on a very low dose, approximately 1\5 of what I was on. Now mind you, I have TWO INCURABLE & progressive diseases. No cure & they will get worse. But they refuse to increase dosages & if you tell them that what you’re taking isn’t helping, they threaten to take you off what you are on. They are definitely knee-deep in this fake “opiod crisis.” They believe in positivity & all that crap to cure your pain. Now, I will say, the rest of their staff, I.e. appointments, therapy, UA, etc. are very nice & pleasant individuals. Even the doctor & nurses are “pleasant” enough, it’s just their way or the highway! No discussion!

I have been in severe pain for 5 1/2 years. I’ve had a botched back surgery from a Chattanooga Doctor. I contracted two separate diseases while having my first surgery at a Chattanooga hospital. I’ve been on pain management for about 4 years. Heavy doses of opiates for about 4 years. I’ve taken physical therapy on three different occasions during the 5 1/2 years of enduring this horrific pain! I’ve been on a walker and in and out of several hospitals and wheel chairs. I could bearly walk. I was ordered by my Spinal Surgeon to see Dr. James Choo and see if he could help me by doing a SCS spinal cord stimulator trial. I agreed to trying it sense the Epidurals and steroid shots were not working plus the fact my Spinal Surgeon was out of answers for me! I also had severe scaring on my S1 and S2 nerves. Basically there was nothing more my doctor could do for me! I desperately wanted to get off the pain medication. So I did the trial, it was miracle come true! In just 7 days my back hurt no longer and I could walk and didn’t have to have my wife dress me or put my socks and shoes on me. The trial was 100% successful. Then after a few weeks had passed my pain and nerves got increasingly worse. The day of my implant I was wheel chair ridden to and from the operating room. I was hurting severely after the surgery and awoke the next morning and could walk normally and the pain had subsided to nearly nonexistent. My wife was joyous for me! Everyday since has been an improvement in my health and way of life due to the SCS implant! The staff were Great and very professional in the service to me! We got to know each other by a first name basis. Plus the ease of being able to relate to Dr. Choo and him explaining everything in detail made this most rememberable experience I’ve ever had in my lifetime! This was my last resort medically speaking. I could and would highly recommend the SCS to anyone that this has been prescribed to. It’s the best thing since Momas homemade apple pie!

Dr Choo made me wait for over a hour and then would not help me. If I didn't drive 40 minutes one way three times a week, he would do nothing for me. Would NEVER advise anyone to use him!

I have been seeing Dr Choo for 10 years for pain management. Medication is down on the list of treatment options and the Pain Consultants of East Tennessee utilizes everything from epidurals and nerve ablation to occupational therapy and physical therapy to more aggressive approach with refferals to a neurosurgeon and an orthopedic surgeon. Being able to experience a better quality of life and be more active has kept me going and away from the depression of loosing the ability to do everything I was used to doing. PCET is definitely NOT a “pill mill” !

Finding this Pain Management has helped my quality of life

He act like that are not nothing to you. You do not have shot and net better with your back

My experience has been excellent with Dr. Choo and his office. The staff is friendly and caring as well as Dr. Choo. I had a series of shots in my back that have made a difference in my life. As Dr. Choo said "no one should have to stay in pain". I am scheduling the same series for my neck pain as my back pain has subsided. If you are in pain, this is the place to go.

Every aspect of PCT is top notch and professional. Dr. Choo defines professional and caring. The staff members of PCT are polite, caring and reflect the man they work and the environment he has created. This medical practice is NOT a fly by night pain management facility. You will be cared for to the utmost, but if your looking for a quick fix (and I mean this as just looking to get scripts) your looking at the wrong place. The staffs concern from Doctor, Psychologist, to supporting staff will be looking out for your short term and long term needs with great care and concern.

Dr. Choo and his staff are amazing! I have had severe shooting pain in my right leg for several years, been to numerous other doctors and spent a lot of money having tests done with no pain relief at all. Dr. Choo has done several procedures for me and the relief was immediate. I wish someone had referred me to him first.

Great experience!! I was timid going into it because I didn't know what to expect, but Dr. Choo was very thorough & professional. He explained & provided me with information in detail regarding each procedure indicated for my neck pain. I recieved a great amount of pain relief with the trigger point injections & epidurals performed. His staff was very friendly & efficient & I won't hesitate to go back there if needed.

Dr. Choo is only in this for $$ he does not listen to patient has no compassion for patient treats you like you are a number he's treating. Dr. Choo put in a SCS for me I had to beg him stop a couple times during procedure hurt so bad. He kept telling just have hold still and be over soon. St.Jude rep. Jonathon had make him stop and the Dr.Choo gave me muscle relaxer so he could finish. Dr. Choo just wanted to hurry it along he said I was backing up his schedule. His office staff are inefficient also. Please don't use him and go through what I did.

I am the mother of a 14yr old that is a patient of Dr. Choo. My daughter fractured her foot & after months of no progress of healing & many Dr's later we were referred to Dr. Choo. She has a disease called RSD or CPRS. Not common in children. The first appt I canceled with them.... just the thought of my child being at a pain clinic was crazy. Then I realized he was our last hope. From day one she has been treated like family & for the first time someone understood how she felt! My daughter went thru 4 injections & that staff was also AMAZING! She did months of physical therapy with Thad & Jennifer. And after 10 months of crutches she was walking sooner than expected. PT understood how far to push my daughter & when to not upset the problem unlike places we had been before. When we started this journey I can honestly say I thought my daughter was going to lose her foot it looked & hurt so bad. A few months later with the help of a lot of wonderful people who understood what my daughter was going through & hard work on my daughters behalf. She is pain free & in one week medication free. Living life like a 14 yr old should! I can't say Thank you enough to all the staff at Dr. Choo's office.

Dr Choo is the best!

Given the reputation of many Pain Clinics as a dispensary for pain meds, I was very impressed by Dr. Choo's focus on managing my back/ neck pain without narcotics. The nerve ablation was successful, my neck/back pain and muscle spasms subsided almost completely within a week after the procedure.

I have had migraine headaches for 13 years and have been to doctor after doctor, with prescription after prescription, patches after patches, Botox and you name it and I have had it with no relief from my pain. After the first visit with Dr. Choo, my pain was gone. I went back today for another session for pain in a different part of my head. He has taken care of that as well. I would highly recommend Dr. Choo to anyone who is and has been suffering with chronic pain for many years. He takes care of the pain without pain medication.

Dr Choo has always been very professional and efficient! They have an awesome staff of NPs and nurses who seem to understand what chronic pain is all about!! If you are truly needing pain management this clinic is straight up the best!! If you are just Dr/drug shoppin- don't bother!! They are here to treat the patients who sincerely have an issue. He has done several joint injections for me and made my life bearable again!!

I was lucky enough to be released from my nerosurgeon to the care of Dr. Choo. On my first visit he reviewed my medical history and was very understanding. I appeciate that he understood I was seeking a conservative approach to managing my chronic pain with minimum medication. Dr. Choo is a doctor who wants to help you achieve a healthy approach to regaining your health with PT, Occupational Therapy, and any means needed without just throwing pain medicines at the problem. Pain Clinics have been getting some bad publicity as late. But Dr. Choo is a GOD send, who really has your best interest at heart. I would highly recommend Dr. Choo and his entire staff to anyone who truly wants to get first class health care. Anything Dr. Choo would suggest, I would have full confidence in his assessment. This clinic and the doctors and staff are what pain management should be all about. GREAT EXPERIENCE, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
