Very professional guy.

I was referred to Dr. Kelly by another orthopedist, and by my neighbor, a physical therapist. I had hoped the Dr. Kelly would offer something other than a reverse total shoulder replacement; however, that is what all three of them agreed that I needed. Dr. Kelly and his assistant surgeon are extremely talented; and the staff— nurses, physical therapist, and occupational therapist— worked seamlessly to ensure I had an excellent experience. I was given a 48 hour block, which meant that I did not have any discomfort in my left upper extremity until after the anesthetic effect had dissipated. Even then, I could manage all of my postoperative pain with over-the-counter medication.. Additionally, my physical therapist is very pleased with my progress. I can wholeheartedly suggest Dr. Kelly and the Bernal Heights joint replacement hospital to anyone who requires a reverse total shoulder replacement.

Excellent physician, excellent “bed-side” manners. Dr. Kelly listens to your concerns and does not rush. Unlike some orthopedists, he recommend conservative treatments first and doesn’t rush to perform surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Kelly!!

I am an older gal so it was refreshing to have doctor Kelley read my MRI without asking me to replace my shoulder. He explained that the shoulder had problems but when he examined me after a fall, He told me that the pain that I was now experiencing was not from the damaged shoulder but from the fall. He gave me a cortisone shot and asked questions about where the pain was and put it perfectly into the right place. I am not kidding... the pain went away totally and now I am working with the PT pilates person and aerobic coach to build strength and flexibility. I am totally grateful for dr Kelley.

Dr. Kelly performed my partial shoulder replacement a year ago. His consultation before the procedure and the clarity he provided me about the procedure and what to expect during recovery was AMAZING! I’m so grateful for Dr. Kelly and his team. I had a reverse shoulder replacement. I felt very confident in getting the surgery done because Dr Kelly explained all the ramifications very clearly. Every thing went well, and the recovery has been swift.

I had to say “I have a question”, as he had his hand on the doorknob of the exam room ready to leave to see the next patient. After I said I didn’t want a steroid shot he had nothing to say. The whole experience was less than 3 minutes. Never said anything about follow up. Hard to trust someone who takes no time to “hear” the patient.

My experience with being Dr. J. Kelly's patient is very positive and I am very grateful for all attention and how his medical expertise affected my way to recovery. It is quite a few months after my surgery and postsurgical appointments, but when I asked Dr. Kelly for his advice and requested antibiotics for my dental procedure, he responded immediately. Dr Kelly performed urgent surgery on my mom to pin her broken hip. He was excellent. Skillful surgeon and excellent bedside manner - he answered all my questions and helped my mom and I feel more comfortable in a scary situation.
