Dr. John Barnwell Kerrison, MD

Dr. Kerrison set my mind at ease and helped save my eye sight.

I live in New Jersey and was referred to Dr. Kerrison to get a second opinion with regards to my double vision. I found him to be a more than excellent physician and I am more than happy that I saw him. I am sorry he is not in New Jersey where I live where I could have all of my follow-ups with him.

I have only seen Dr. Kerrison one time and I was impressed about how organized their procedures are and it almost resemble an assembly line. Each staff member has their own test to run and depending on what test that you need you will go from station to station until you reach your final destination which is Dr Kerrison. At that time he will review your test results and discuss with you what procedure he would recommend. I would recommend Dr Kerrison to anyone who may be looking for a great eye doctor. Rick D.

Dr. Kerrison follows me for my Brain Tumor as it is close to my Optic nerve. I could not ask for a more caring and skilled doctor. He was highly recommended by the Doctors at Emory Hospital. The staff are nice as well.

Dr. Kerrison is an extremely nice and knowledgeable doctor. He put my fears to rest and was genuinely concerned for my well being and assured me that he would take care of my problem. He answered all my questions and explained it in a way that I could understand! Compassionate and humble. He and his staff impressed me greatly!

Had surgery yesterday, he missed our post op appointment today. I'll probably be at the ER before the night is over.

This wait time included being seen by other staff for required exams prior to being seen by Dr. Kerrison

He was so rude that before I even finished explaining my symptoms, he gave me his diagnoses. I just could not believe it. What uncaring and obnoxious doctor he is! I think he is the type of doctor who does not want his patient to know a subject more than he does. I will never go back to him.

This guy was an idiot. Kept saying the same things over and over and then became argumentative. Don't tell us my husband isn't going to lose vision when he already has. He refused to get an MRI or any scan and did the same tests another specialist had already done. This guy is a hack!

I don't know why there's bad reviews about him, He is very smart I've been with 5 eye doctor before him and NO ONE can tell why my Eye Twitching they are just saying don't drink too much caffeine but when DR. Kerrison saw me the first time he knew right away what I have he said, I have hemifacial spasm and give me 2 options what to do. After my brain surgery with Dr. Patel ( Dr. kerrison recommended him), I am very happy everythings went well and Thanks God of having him without him my eye never been diagnose right. Very Intelligent and trust his knowledge.

This is the most arrogant self-centered doctor you will ever encounter. He drones on and on about about himself,:his fabulous vacations, his achievements, his big house , his private school education. Your diagnosis and the reason you came to see him will be addressed in about two seconds. No diagnosis, no prognosis, no mention of follow up, no clue if he's done examining you. Oh yeah, he also belittles what you do and where you came from. He's certainly a competent doctor and great at what he does, but his lack of bedside manner and interpersonal skills are really abominable.

After much testing for why I may have doubled and blurry vission. Was assessed by Dr. Kerrison and told I just need to wear contact lenses for my high astigmatism in my left eye. Sounds simple enough, however with my severe dry eye (even with punctal plugs) it is not that easy. Could not find contacts to fit properly. So seeked advise from a laser eye Dr. hoping that they can correct my vision enough to wear I could wear contact lenses to see clearly. After 2 hours of testing, plotting and mapping my eye at another Dr. office, I was diagnosed with Pellucide marginal Degeneration. Which is very rare.However treatment for it is not approved in the US by our FDA. My advise if problems can not be resolved, always seek a second opinion.

staff only dialated one eye. doctor did not answer any of my questions, no prognosis, no treatment suggested... just come back in 6 months... extremely disappointed in his inability to spend time and communicate with me about my medical issue.

I had a terrible experience at Retina Consultants of Charleston. The staff there is a group of very nice, patient, caring individuals, however this doctor is none of those.I arrived approximately 15 minutes early for my appointment (to fill out the standard paperwork you get when you're a new patient) and still wasn't seen until about 35 minutes after the scheduled time. That didn't bother me because I don't mind waiting for good service, and the rest of the staff was nice.After some tests were performed and my eyes were dilated, I was shuffled into a dark room in the back, and told that I needed to sign some papers for a surgery they needed to do immediately. With my eyes blurred, I couldn't make out everything clearly, but I put my trust in the doctor (thinking that he had my best interest in mind), so I read what I could and signed the consent forms.The doctor was not forthcoming with information about my diagnosis, and seemed quite offended when I asked questions, to the point that he ignored most of what I said and just repeated a few short sentences. He did not tell me what exactly he was doing, or prepare me by giving an overview of what to expect, except to say that he was doing a laser treatment on my eye. He was very rough during the procedure, which was very painful (despite promises that I would barely feel anything). He peeled back my eyelids and jammed something in my eye. His tone was condescending when I told him I was in pain, and then he grabbed my head and forced me against an apparatus so he could complete the treatment, which was literally frying my eye at this point. I was frightened and in tears, but he made some belittling comments and continued.When he was finished, he recited some notes into a voice recorder and quickly left the room. He did not provide me with aftercare instructions, or stay to answer any questions. He did not speak to me at all after it was over, leaving me in the room alone until a staff member came in to put some drops in the affected eye.I am very disappointed in this experience. His bedside manner is terrible. I will have my follow up appointment with another provider because I do not want to be treated like this again. I would have liked more information about my condition. I would have liked being treated with dignity and respect. I caution others to think twice before choosing this doctor because he is rude and treats patients in a roughshod manner that makes you never want to return. His actions show that he doesn't care about people.

This was the best experience I have ever had with a Doctor. He is a special person and know his job. He saved us from an unnecessary surgery. He explained everything he was doing. I am very grateful for having found him.

DR Kerrison is a very caring man , he cares about his patients not the money.
