Dr. John Raymond Labban, MD

I went to Dr. Labban for two pregnancies, one in 2013 which ended in miscarriage at 12 weeks, and another pregnancy in 2014 that ended in miscarriage at 16 weeks. So, this colors my review a bit because both of them were difficult experiences for me. Dr. Labban was very kind, gave me options, allowed me time to ask questions, and explained alternatives. I trusted his advice. His staff can tend to be a bit crabby with you and if you are nice to them, they are nice back-- but you may have to hound them a bit. The biggest issue with Dr. Labban's Bloomington office is the wait time for visits. I routinely waited 30 minutes to 90 minutes to see the doctor, even when arriving right on time for my appointment. I realize this is because he really takes time with each patient but I feel the office is not managed well if this is a consistent patient experience. Example: One time I went for an appointment and when I got there they said I wasn't in their book for the day! I knew they were wrong-- I had written down the time while discussing it with the scheduling person in the office at my previous appointment and apparently they just didn't click all the way through the scheduling software because they didn't know I was going to be there. I had been on bedrest for that pregnancy and made a special effort to get out of bed, get childcare, and get my husband out of work to take me to the appointment, so I just said "I'm staying." Finally 2 hours later I was seen. So, they go to great lengths to accommodate-- just don't hire an hourly wage babysitter to watch your older children if you can't afford to pay for an extra hour or two!

Great doc, great man. Courteous and charming, very professional and hard working.

Rude

I am a patient qnd on followup ended up with an infection. After speaking to several other patients-they all had infections to. Isn't there some dept that tracks that. Why do all of his surgery patients have infections? Doesn't that seem odd to anyone else? I spent an extra 2 weeks recovering bc of an infection and it could have been prevented. I find this careless on his part. Doesn't the hospital look into a track record of constant infections following surgery ? Or do they not care either ? I'm not satisfied at all with this.

I've always had good experiences with Dr. Labban, even though he is busy and tends to be running late. He is always respectful of my choices and does not push unnecessary procedures. Appointments are generally quick but I don't feel rushed - he always gives me plenty of chances to ask questions.

The worst experience and treatment ever!!! I felt like I was blown off and disrespected!!!

He is horrible and so is his midwife. DO NOT go to him. It is not worth it. Missed my appointment have been trying to call for 10 minutes and just keep getting a busy signal

Dr labban is the only dr i would let deliever my babys this is my 3rd baby and he has and his nerses has ben the best to me and my sisters my sister had swithched her doctor because she was scared to dissapoint dr labban cause he had delievered all her babys and he is such a great doctor and tgrew the 9 months he is like family, she regrets ever changing doctors all of my my all of my friends and family have had him as their ob and keeps going back...

I went to 6 different ob/gyn's and I was very upset and disappointed with them. I had a GREAT experience with Labban. They treated my pregnancy with care and consideration. I had several health issues with the pregnancy (all pregnancy related, none preexsisting) and they took my issues and concerns seriously. The doctor is very thoughtful and laid back. Delivery was nice and relaxing. My previous delivery with my daughter was heck tick and frightening, and the doctors did not follow my birth plan. Labban followed my birth plan andade the experience very calm and nice! The wait time in his office can be from 20 minutes to an hour sometimes, but then again he has to leave to deliver babies! :). I found that if I schedule early morning appointments then you get in and out faster.

Staff has been rude & can make you feel like a pest. I like Dr Labban but haven't been impressed lately by members of his staff. I will be happy to have my child delivered by him but am looking forward to ending my dealings with his office.

Dr Labban is the only doctor in town who will offer medical services as a back up to a home birth. He is extremely professional and really cares that all women get proper health care and exams to ensure their health and the health of their babies no matter the kind of birth they choose. He is well traveled and hasa great international perspective on women's health care.

Dr. Labban was professional and easy to get along with. However his receptionist was rude. His nurse was rude. Every one of his staff made me feel like I was an inconvenience. Although I liked the Dr. I won't be back

I drive over an hour to have Dr. Labban as my doctor and this is my second pregnancy. For being a small doctor's office (just Labban) the wait isn't too bad, just like any other doctor's office. You can tell he genuinely cares and he is very good about making sure everything is well with you and baby and he takes the time in your apt. to discuss anything you want to. Not like other offices that just ask if you have any questions and they are done. Labban is an amazing doctor!

The lady that scheduled my appt. was very friendly and informative (Amy?). However, I waited over an hour for my first 2 appts with Dr. Labban. This seems to be a reg. occurence there. Also, Dr. Labban seems to have a large ego. He was friendly enough, but somewhat nonchalant - answered my question with "That's not something you need to worry about." I will be seeing another Dr. in the future.

There isnt ANOTHER dr i would ever feel more comfortable with caring for me and delivering my child. Im on my 2nd pregnancy that is so far a success and after 3 miscarriages, he handled them all and was very caring and always a phone call away! BEST Dr ever

Doctor Labban is such a great man... He has delivered all of my grandchildren but 1. So that makes 8 he has delivered.. He has a very good bed side manner, as well of knowing what he is doing and what is best for the mother and baby as well as babies, we have twins as well. If you want a very knowledgeable Doctor as well as caring Doctor..Doctor Labbans is the best... So glad he is located in Bloomington keep up the great job...

Dr.Labban is an EXCELLENT physician!! I have not only reccomended, but INSISTED that ALL of my friends, sister in law, aunts,etc. go to him for their OB/GYN care. He was ALWAYS available for me whenever I needed him. I was a very HIGH needs patient! I suffered through 3 SEVERE hyperemisis gravidarium pregnancies, and I don't think that I would have come through as healthy as I did or my babies would have been born healthy if I would have seen another doctor. Dr.Labban was there for me always. I had to be hospitalized several times for days on end, PIC lines, home health care, he FOUGHT with my insurance company for me to get the expensive med I needed to stay well enough to be at home through my pregnancies! He made sure to keep me alive and well, and did his best to keep my spirits up when I was severly ill. He even brought me a piece of bread from church on a sunday that I was stuck in the hospital and gave it to me saying,"well, maybe this will make you better 'cause I'm doing all I can!":) He is a very kind-hearted man. He's funny, sweet, compassionate, understanding, open minded, honest,etc.etc.. He always has his patient's best intrest at heart, and would NEVER force anything on anyone. I had all of my babies 100% drug free, no unnecessary medical drama in the delivery room EVER! I give him an A+ as far as my prenatal care, deliveries, post partum, and I look forward to catching up with him once a year :) I hope he practices in Bloomignton for a good long time...I would be very happy to have him deliver my children's children..several years from now!!Dr.Labban is one of those doctors who will forever be on many family's christmas card list :)

WELL ALL I GOT TO SAY IS HE IS THE BEST DOC I WOULD NOT GO TO NO OTHER DOC IF IT WAS NOT FOR HIM MY SON WOULD NOT BE HERE!!!!

I was a 35 almost 36 yr. old who became pregnant after several miscarrages. I went to my family Dr. who recommended that I see Dr. Labban who specialized in high risk pregnancy. Upon my first visit and exam he assured me that if I follow his instructions that I would deliver a healthy baby. I did as he and his wonderful staff told me to do and I gave birth to a beautiful 7lb healty baby girl. Had it not been for his expert advice she would not be here today. I have a neice who was going thru some of the same issues I had and I recommended she go and see him and he has delivered all 4 of her children. I highly recommend him to everyone I know who needs a great caring Dr.

I had complications with my pregnancy and Dr. Labban took the time to see me everyday. He even stayed on his lunch breaks to make sure everything was okay with me and my son. As a result we had a healthy baby even though he arrived early. I had a cesarean and Dr. Labban was so fast and worked hard to make me smile even through the pain. I love Dr. Labban for everything he has done for our family and he is highly recommended by us.
