Dr. John Peter Lubicky, MD

Dr Lubicky is a great doctor , he’s good at what he does! That is for sure . He has done many surgeries , not all were success but most of them were . I have a surgery coming up for my severe scoliosis and I’m hoping for it to succeed ! Thankyou dr lubicky for being a great dr and always having great manners!

Caused my brother to lose his leg cause he put a cast on his leg too tight back in 2008

Dr. Lubicky treated my son from 3months to 18 yrs. Excellent doctor. My son had Pffd. Proximal femoral focal deficency. (Short femur) He had 21 surgeries. Wonderful experience with dr. Lubicky. Anthony loved him and so did we, Let alone Shriner Hospital staff being excellent. Everytime my son had surgery, it was like going to heaven and the people knew what was important. Their children! We couldnt express how we valued DR. LUBICKY. He was just wonderful!!!! 21 stars from us.

He cut all my nerves and I am paralyzed since the surgery

He’s the best! In 1994 I travelled from the Springfield, MA Shriner’s Hospital with my surgeon to the Chicago Shriner’s Hospital to have Dr. Lubicky fuse my spondylolisthesis using the relatively new (at the time) pedicle screws and rods. This was after a previously failed fusion. Dr. Lubicky is the upper eschelon of pediatric surgeons. His mastery of the spine trumps any complaint of bad bedside manners. I would trust him with my own family.

You can not ask questions to this man. He will not answer questions. He is sarcastic. He isn’t respectful to women. I have never been so disappointed in WVU medicine and I have been doctoring with WVU for 10 years. I hope and pray he correctly diagnosed my child. He isn’t worried about reassuring or answering our questions...he got our money that’s all he is worried about.

So... where to begin. How about the fact that he basically told me my pain was imaginative, it never existed and then yelled at my parent. I thought that he was probably really good at what he specialized in but had little experience with my rare condition and tried to take the blame off of him, come to find outttt about a month later I have mild SCOLIOSIS (part of what he specializes in) which was causing my pain and a herniated disk. So thanks doctor lubicky, you are absolutely the worst doctor I have ever seen. No bedside manner at all.

Dr. Lubicky has absolutely NO bedside manner. My appointment with him was honestly the worst I’ve ever had and being one with several chronic illnesses I’ve seen a lot. He was absolutely the worst. He treated me like I didn’t know anything about what I went there for OR the illnesses I’ve already had for years. He takes no responsibility for his actions he definetly has a “godly instinct.” I will never go to him again and I do not recommend him to anybody

1987 did my scoliosis operation at upstate in Syracuse. Still going strong. I'm a 1992 grad of WVU. Good to see he followed me there. Ahhhhh. Thanks doc for your professionalism and expertise. Sorry for throwing up on your team during the operation. Go Errs!

I am a patient if Dr. Lubicky s back about 35 years ago. I was born with severe scoliosis malignant hyperthermia and muscular dystrophy central core. I would have been wheelchair bound and probably died at a young age. But thanks to Dr. Lubicky and all my surgeries I am a 45 year old adult with two wonderful children. He is the best there is!! If you r ever in doubt and u need to find the best for your child in the orthopedic department he is the one and only. My parents wanted the best and he was the best choice ever.

My son saw this doctor for his early onset Scoliosis at 15 months. We casted 3 times, and we’re put into a brace. A month after the brace we went for a check up. At the check up we found out my sons curve had worsened due to the brace. When I pushed for more casting Dr Lubicky seemed insulted and stated he would stay in brace until surgery. We got a second opinion with Lexington Shriners and have been casting for 2 years with excellent results. Dr lubicky tried to force us into allowing our child’s curve to worsen and cause more medical problems because he refused to continue the approved method of treatment. He yelled at my child to “Shut up so I can tell your mom what’s wrong with you!” My son was 2 at this time. He has horrible bedside manners and dismisses any questions you may have. We were driving 3 hours to see him, he put my son through unnecessary amounts of X-rays and radiation. He’s all about the money not the well being of the child! I would recommend any parent to consult Shriners Medical Centers over Dr Lubicky!!

I can remember local surgeons telling me That my leg can not be saved. Dr. Lubicky took me in and told me that this would be he'll but it would be worth it. That man saved my life and now I'm Roofing on the same leg that was Smashed and spiral crushed off.

Dr. Lubicky saved me and my leg. A long time ago I was a patient of his at Rileyâ??s Hospital for Children. I was scared and in a lot of pain. Iâ??ve read through most of the reviews on Dr. Lubicky, and I have to say that I more or less agree with them. His bedside manners may have been a little lacking at times, and I will admit that he did talk to my dad moreso than he did my mother. However, that does change the fact that he is an amazing doctor, and after spending almost a week in the hospital (the first out of three surgeries) had grown to love his humor. Too, whatever bed side manners he lacked, his assistants made up for. Leaving after my third and final leg surgery, he had given us his card and told us that if anything was to happen to me or my other leg to contact him. Amazing. Anyway, overall Iâ??d give this man a 5-star rating. If you read this, thank you for saving my leg.

the doctor did not tell everything that was happening or what the next step was

This dr spent 21 years with my son and his surgeries. He cured his handicap and I will be forever grateful!!! The Anthony Nakvosas Family!!!

Horrible bedside manners. Dr Lubicky is well educated and experienced in his field. That is the only thing he has going for him. He is rude, arrogant, offensive and always talking over his client to stifle questions. When you do manage to get a question out he gives you a look like you are stupid. Also, he will not have a conversation with a woman. Every time you see him with a man and a woman he ignores the woman entirely.

My daughter was born with DDH. The pavlik harness didn't completely fix it - her right hip was still subluxed. When we saw Dr. Lubicky to see what we could do to fix this he automatically told us she needed a procedure that would mean putting my daughter to sleep and in a cast for 3 months, and that we had no other options. We sought a second opinion at Shriners in Philly and they told us they didn't see any reason why she wouldn't benefit from another harness/brace that was a lot less restricting. Not to mention, we already had to wait 45-60 minutes or so to even see Lubicky. He had absolutely no bedside manner whatsoever. When he was feeling my daughter's hips she got a little fussy, and he sort of snapped, "Don't you have a bottle or pacifier to give her right now?!" She's 8 months old! We didn't even get any questions answered by him. Seemed like we were bothering him so we waited until he left and asked his nurse. The only positive thing I have to say is that the office staff and nurses were very nice. Other than that, please seek a doctor who isn't all about surgeries and MONEY. I recommend any Shriners closest to you!

Dr. Lubicky has done multiple surgeries on my daughter, who has a rare bone disorder. We trust him implicitly and have travelled from our home in Indiana to West Virginia because he is the best.

Dr. Lubicky is a wonderful doctor. He treated my son who has spina bifida. It was years ago but recently my son saw a neurologist and when she asked about his surgery I mentioned that Dr. Lubicky was his surgeon. She takes her daughter to see him several states away, because he has moved to WV. We laughed, because Dr. Lubicky just tells it like it is. I miss having him here in Indiana. This may be removed, Sorry to say but He is for SURGERY on all levels, even if its NOT NECESSARY, Do not take your disabled child to him, Surgery is all he says instantly. Surgery for a disabled child who will never walk and has to endure the pain is not the answer. DO NOT GO TO THIS MAN WHO LIVES TO DO SURGERY FIRST.
