I RECENTLY HAD TKR L KNEE, I COULDNT OF ASK FOR A BETTER DR AND PA- JOE. DR MAYS IS THE BOMB! HE ALWAYS CALLS ME HIS FAV PATIENT , HA AS HE DOES EVERYONE. MAKES YOU FEEL SPECIAL. THROUGH MUCH WORK AND PHYSICAL THERPY WE FINALLY HAVE REACHED MY ALMOST HAPPY PLACE.(STILL HEALING) 3 MO INTO THIS, BUT TAKES AWHILE HEAL . I WORK FOR WK IN CARDIOLOGY SO I WAS ABLE GO BACK WORK TUES WITH DR MAYS APPROVAL. AGAIN , ANYONE LOOKING FOR A ORTH DR FOR KNEES, LOOK AT DR MAYS! HE REALLY CARES AND HIS WONDERFUL STAFF.

I had an injury and needed to be seen as soon as possible. He agreed to see me in the office despite his full office schedule. He quickly diagnosed the problem and went over the treatment plan with me. He is very conservative with treatment instead of hastening you to the operating table. His bedside manner was great, and I didn’t have to wait over 30 minutes. I would recommend Dr. Mays to anyone who wants “no nonsense” answers to any orthopedic problem. Thanks Dr. Mays!!

I was treated by a doctor in Shreveport several times for an Achilles tendon problem with no positive results. I was referred to Dr. Mays by a colleague and am grateful for the recommendation. Now I finally feel like I have a doctor who knows what is going on. I'm happy to finally have a solution to my ankle problem and credit Dr. Mays with this. This guy is really sharp and helpful.

He took care of several of my family members and they have done extremely well. Joint replacements and hip surgery. Dr. Mays and his staff are wonderful.

Dr. Mays is great! He explains everything thoroughly & simply. Unlike other doctors I’ve seen surgery isn’t his go-to solution. I’ve seen him for several issues and he’s always quickly found a treatment plan that works for my problem. One example is I broke my big toe in two places while on vacation and the ER doctor insisted that I would need surgery to wire it back together. Dr. Mays said it would heal fine & it did with no issues. Excellent bedside manner and easy to talk to. I recommend him to anyone with an orthopedic problem. If I could give him seven stars I would!

if I could give (0) stars that would be more appropriate. As the first apt scheduled for the AM 0800, I was not seen until 0926am. The staff was rude. They lost my CD of xrays and MRI's. Instead or requesting for a copy they asked me to shoot another costly series of xrays because the doctor said "your scans do not show me what I need to see" odd...because he never viewed them b/c they lost them and the xrays were on there. So, I do as his request and perform his "basic" xrays with his condescending remarks of "a picture is worth a thousand words". I wanted to say, so is your disorganization, rudeness, neglect and arrogance. He "called in 2 prescriptions for me" in which only one was called in. Needless to say I will NOT be going back to him. He should be careful talking about patients in the hallway where we can hear you. Rude.

After being told he coukd work on all joints, my son went there for a forearm injury. The Dr spent all of 5 minutes with him, felt his arm, said he doesn't do wrists, referred him to another dr for an Mri and surgery. Total time spent in office was an hour and a half, saw the dr for 5 minutes. Waste of time and money.

I would certainly choose Dr. Mays again. He is a great surgeon with a courteous staff.

Pathetic

Referred to Dr. Mays by family doctor for back and leg pain. After waiting to be called (1/2 late) I was taken to an exam room and the nurse did her 5 minute thing. After she left the room, I sat in the exam room for over an hour and a half and not a single person came in during that time. When I went out the door to find a restroom, the nurse then said sorry it has been so long, he is really busy today. Guess my appointment didn't mean anything. When the doctor came in, I felt he was condescending and he did a very LIMITED exam. Gave me Rx for a steroid pack and said I would probably feel great when I came back in two weeks. Didn't want to send me for PT, didn't take additional x-rays and said before WE spend money on an MRI, take the steroids and do some stretching exercises and come back in two weeks. Took the steroids as he instructed and nothing changed with my condition. I was so distraught over this whole appointment with Dr. Mays that I decided I needed to go to someone else for a second opinion. The neurosurgeon I went to took additional x-ray and found that I have Spondylolisthese and they have set up an MRI. Won't ever go back to Dr. Mays nor would I recommend him to anyone.

Fix first problem with knee but after surgery still had problems. Had to get a second opion.

Did surgery fix need the first time. Got bump on knee was told it was scary tissue. Doctor got a phone call while in treating me i had to ask for a band aid.

Was very friendly and did a great job. Quickly diagnosed my problem and fixed my knee complely. 3 other "esteemed" doctors in the area said I could only do pain management for the rest of my life but Dr. Mays had the brains and compassion to fix me. Just ran a 5k last week with no pain!!
