Dr. John Douglas Shugrue, MD

Dr.Shugrue has been my primary for many years. He is excellent and caring and instead of rushing you out, he is thorough. I read one of the comments here (that was repeated a couple of times) saying that his scheduling staff was rude and wouldn’t schedule her and then she attacked Dr. Shugrue and tried to crucify his reputation. Sounds like vengeance to me since she wanted to see him so badly that she offered to pay cash. So sad.

Dr Shugrue really listens to what you have to say and takes time with you. I'm so glad we found him after moving here to Alabama! His nurse is awesome too!

I seen dr shugrue for years and Medicaid change my dr in system and when I try get it change back to shugrue they would not change it for me. Amy in the office is one in charge of changing it and she wouldn’t after I have been seeing him for 7 years. She is very rude and does not care at all about people or the medicine they are on and can’t just come off of. I even offer to pay cash and she would not accept that. Needless to say that was very rude and not caring at all of my needs and did not even write me a last script to come off my medicine like I was suppose to. I have spoke with attnory about this issue and they will be getting some paper work from him very soon. Also there is several people I know that see dr shugrue and he is write them 4 different narcotic medicine when that is not allowed. This man over prescribe people medicine and gives them different medicine that is not suppose to be mixed. I’m so glad god got me out of this office and I have a dr that is concern and cares now. Also the FDA and the drug task force has been aware of this situation so something is fixing to be done. Watch your family and love ones that come here. He will get them on narcotics and then just throw them under the bus.

Very personable and genuinely concerned about your well being. Great bedside manner. Makes sure he addresses all of your concerns each and every visit. Very friendly staff.

He is a wonderful doctor!
