Awesome Doctor

I have been going to Dr. Velky for about 20 years. He is one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. Also has a wonderful sense of humor! Took care of my mother during the last years of her life and she loved him!

He is the best. His PA is young but, growing. I was surprised to read all the negative comments about his staff being rude. They have all been very nice and pleasant to me.

Dr. Velky is a great doctor and even better person. Unfortunately, recent changes have limited his availability, leaving you subject to inexperienced PA's, uncaring nurses, and the rudest office staff you'll ever encounter.

I love Dr. Velky. I Have been a patient for over twenty years. He is a great doctor, has caught two cancers I have through blood tests. He has done everything from remove moles, to relieve colds. All in a professional, understanding, and friendly way, even with not so good news. You could not find a better family doctor. 5 stars. Only a 3 star rating because of his staff. Staff gets 1 star. I have called his nurse 4 times to make an appointment for blood tests over a period of 10 days or so. I am running low on a prescription and need tests to see where I am at. You cannot speak to her, you have to leave a message. None have been returned. His staff is provided by University Hospital and now longer has control over his staff. Sad.

Love Dr. Velky. Hate the office staff; they are rude and unfriendly. Now that Dr. Velky has had to join University Hospital to stay in business due to the ACA mandates, he is inaccessible for same day appointments for sicknesses. Some UH bureaucrat micromanages his office including staff, hours and patient access. Dr. Velky no longer has any control over his medical practice. He's a UH employee. There is a high turnover rate of his PAs and NPs, so if you get in to see one of them, it's a different person every time and no continuity of care. Then when you need a prescription refill, they will not do it if you haven't been in to see Dr. Velky in the last 6 mos. So you're screwed because you've been denied access when needed, and have to schedule an unnecessary appointment just for a prescription refill. Dr. Velky is one of the best doctors in the area, but UH has destroyed his medical practice and has limited patient access to him.

When I have a real problem I'm always worked in within 24 hours due to asthma and allergy problems; my only concern is weekend coverage - I do not like going to the ER - nor do I like the "hospitalist" that now have taken over in-patient care; I do all I can to avoid a visit to the hospital & ER; I think its a disgrace to the medical community that we as patients cannot be seen by our physician of choice after admission.

This is the most caring office and Doctor there is in the world.

Dr Velkey is a good dr, been seeing him for 15 plus years. However the front office staff is terrible. first you have to leave a message and wait on them to call you back. When she finally called back her opening statement was " you do know that in the medical world we use legal first names" and the conversation went down hill from there! I will find a new doctor now thanks!

Being able to get past the front desk is abysmal. Nursing staff and Dr Velky is excellent. The Phones are only answered 1 hour after office opening. Turned off for lunch and switched to answering service about an hour before office closes, which translates to active for 5 hours in a 8 hour day.

Dr Velky is the best! My Complaints are that I hate waiting to talk to the assistant. Waiting I missed the call and was unable to get intouch for 2days now to wait the weekend. To find out about my med which I was told was filled.+ Other important things. They should call back when they know you are sick and expecting conversation.

Always get great care. He really cares about his patients.

Dr. Velky is a very compassionate doctor with good advice and does not try to treat areas that are not his expertise but send you to someone who else is.

The Drs. are wonderful, however, either due to over work or under staffed, trying to get refills called into a pharmacy is like getting teeth pulled! I called to get two for my wife called into Kroger on a Thursday, it's Wednesday the following week and nothing! I've called and left messages multiple times and still nothing. If there is an issue, you can never get a human being on the phone when you call! If the doctors weren't so great, I'd have left a long time ago.

I see Joseph Crosby, PA and he his amazing and very understanding. He works with me and listens. I will never go anywhere else!!!

The care I've received after a few visits has been wonderful. The office is in an old building but is kept clean and tastefully decorated. The placement of the sign-in desk is very unfortunate, as often there is a line almost having to wait outside the door. Waiting area is pleasant and I haven't had to wait more than about 20 minutes. Doctor Velky, his P.A., Joe, and the Nurse Practitioner all seem quite knowledgeable. They are respectful of feelings and privacy. The online portal can be convenient. My only reservation would be the time it sometimes takes to get an appointment, given the limited hours of availability. Unfortunately, they are open during business hours only and closed during their one-hour lunch, which makes seeing them inconvenient if you work, and there are no Saturday hours or evening hours.

I called to see if they took my insurance and I was told right off the bat they are not accepting new patients. Funny how right below this doctors name it has a check mark with the words "accepting new patients beside it"
