Dr. John Soteros Xenos, MD

I didn’t even see this doctor just kept me in the room waiting to me that’s just rude and inconsiderate. You know at least the office staff need to use politeness and kindness, and be considerate and not just keep somebody in a room for two hours and keep me waiting. I never saw them and I’m glad I never went back to this unkind, disrespectful, inconsiderate individual and I’m glad I’m not the only one who does not like this individual doctor.

This doctor is a total talent-less clown, and his staff, namely his business manager, is the dumbest individual I have ever seen. When you make an appointment you are made to wait nearly two hours before you see this clown, and he only see you for 2 minutes, and expects you to schedule surgery after that. Dr. Xenos did my knee replacement in 2018, and I have had nothing but problems with it since. He was careless, and more interested in his fee, than doing a professional job for his patients. Also, his office tried to scam me, by getting me to pay my total out of pocket, prior to surgery, in spite of the fact that my bill was for far less... I asked them if Anthem was aware of that, and they begged me not to tell Anthem. There are hundreds of better surgeons in the front range, just run from this talent-less clown, and his rude, dishonest staff.”

I wish that I could give negative stars. 2 1/2 Years ago, I had an amazing experience with Dr Xenos replacing my knee. His bedside manner, and his general attitude was outstanding. However, he recently moved into a new suite, and things are very different. The female staff can't seem to get their act together, as they sent me all over the front range to get a simple MRI, but because of my insurance, none of the facilities that they wasted my time with took my insurance. Even the simplest employee, of any doctor's office in the world, would at the least provide the referral with your insurance... With one phone call, I remedied that, and have had the MRI. When I went to my follow-up visit, I was meeting with this very young doctor, Dr. Joyce. I only went in there again, to possibly work with Dr. Xenos, but he has a young physician that you have to work with, if it isn't a knee replacement. It was determined during that visit that I should have my elbow scoped. Within moments of that short meeting with the young physician, a female came in the room, and was beyond rude... And she wanted a $1,500.00 deposit for the surgery. I have had a few surgeries over the last few years, and had never heard of anything like that. She decided to have an old female, Brett White, call me later to "try to talk me into it. When Ms. White called, she was the rudest, most unprofessional individual, that I have ever experienced. I would not allow her to wash one of my car collection... She basically told me that the $1500.00 was to protect the Doctor's office, in case I did not pay my deductible to Anthem. I had enough of this clerk's insults, so I cancelled my surgery, and will soon have hundreds of blogs, and sites with this review, and others, so that others will be protected from these rude, bush-league females, and the inexperienced doctors. Doctors are simply a dime a dozen, so do yourself a favor, and find a true expert in the field, and go there. Don't get an inexperienced young doctor, and their rude, unprofessional female office staff. Just go use someone else. Great job of hiring Dr. Xenos...

DON’T USE DR XENOS!!! We were treated by Dr Xenos over a period of almost two years. Over this time, he performed two shoulder surgeries, many office visits and prescribed countless rehab sessions. Dr Xenos also had us take several MRI’s, x-rays, EMG, and other tests that not only very expensive, but turned out unnecessary. After two years of treatment, we are no better off than when we started. We finally decided to find a different doctor and have yet have a third surgery to finally fix my shoulder. My new doctor has admitted that Dr Xenos did a very poor job on my shoulder and he didn’t understand why. This all started in mid-2018 with an initial surgery to fix frozen shoulder, bicep tendon, and some impingement. After the first surgery Dr Xenos admitted that he probably should have done more and that we might have to come in for a second surgery. This was told to my husband directly after surgery to our surprise. Why not just take care of everything while he was performing surgery the first time? We can speculate why, he had at least 6 other surgeries scheduled back to back that day. The next day we were scheduled to come into his office to evaluate my shoulder. I was still recovering from surgery and feeling very nauseous and was in extreme pain. They had me sit in the waiting room for over 2 hours past my scheduled time to finally see me. This became a common occurrence for every appointment I had with this office for over two years. They never were on time and didn’t seem to really care about it. I was excited when I was seen 45 min late, because the norm was over an hour late. Dr Xenos performed a second surgery in Dec 2018 and again the same result. Poor service in the office, and no resolution to my shoulder. I have dealt with pain, two surgeries, countless office visits, countless rehab sessions, and thousand of dollars to repair my shoulder with Dr Xenos. All of this for nothing. Please don’t use Dr Xenos for your orthopedic needs, there are many other doctors out there that will take care of your issues the first time, and care about their patients.

Dr. Xenos recently replaced my left knee and it has been uphill ever since! A few years ago, Dr. Xenos replaced both of my husband’s knees and his incredible recovery and rapid return to a really active lifestyle drove my decision to place myself in his care and end the pain and discomfort I had been living with. I was out of the hospital in 24 hours and back home. I started physical therapy five days later and my PT was amazed at my initial range of motion and flexibility. Eleven weeks out from surgery, I hiked 4 1/2 miles and returned to yoga (gently) and I’m feeling terrific. I can’t say enough about Dr. Xenos’ skill. He is truly a gifted surgeon and a very personable guy as well. His staff is also over-the-top. They have been so professional and responsive to my questions. This was a great experience!

I scheduled two appointments with Dr. Xenos' office for my mother-in-law's hip replacement. Both times I waited over an hour in a hot office with broken AC, no water, and a bathroom that isn't handicap accessible. Both receptionist and scheduler (Candi) were rude and unhelpful. On top of this poor costumer service, the Doctor refused to examine records from the cardiologist and screening of bone density in the hip. Obviously, such information is crucial to undergoing surgery in your 80s. We have decided not to return. I cannot imagine someone that is this careless and arrogant could possibly hold the best interests of the patient during a surgery and prefer not to risk it.

I am going to have a hip revision after only 16 months because the first surgeon was incompetent. Dr. Xenos is the third doctor I consulted with and I trust him to do my surgery to repair the first total hip replacement. Dr. Xenos is smart, compassionate, he explained everything in detail as he was extremely thorough in having tests done, and he let me ask all my questions. His office staff is excellent! I couldn't go through such a difficult surgery again if I didn't trust him so much. I WISH I HAD KNOWN HIM EARLIER!

I've had both of my knees replaced by Dr. Xenos a couple of years apart. I am 76 yrs old and was walking golf within a month!! I have never been happier with a Doctor. His mannerism and caring for your success was terrific!

Very Personable, I felt like I was in my man cave with a buddy who says "oh by the way this is how we are going to fix your hip" this defiantly eased any anxiety I have about the procedure. Looking forward to getting this done.

No finer surgeon anywhere! I had a hip replaced and I have referred him to 3 people to him. All have all used him for various procedures. All of their expectations were exceeded. One of my referrals had a hip replacement done and didn't even need any pain meds after she left the hospital to deal with post op. I went to him for a shoulder injury after my hip replacement, and although he doesn't do this particular procedure, took the time to meet with me, and then refer me to another surgeon. I wish someone could clone him so everyone could have him as a surgeon. I know he's busy, but he's worth the wait.

I am a Medicare/Tricare for Life patient, 72 years old. Dr Xenos did a total knee replacement on me and I have had absolutely no problems. He recommended a physical therapist near me and I did therapy as advised and I no longer have pain in my knee. I can get down on my knees now and I can walk rapidly again. I no longer need any kind of pain medication, even motrin, even after long days on my feet. Everyone in the office was great from the front desk to X-ray to the PAs and Dr Xenos and his assistants. I never felt rushed during my appointments and Dr Xenos has a great bedside manner.

I have seen Dr. Xenos for numerous injuries. (Knee/Shoulder etc). I am more than willing to wait to see him because I know that he will take just as much time with me. He has a great bedside manner that is all to uncommon among orthopedic surgeons. I would highly recommend him to everyone.

Was recommended to see Dr. Xenos thru Tricare. Read his reviews and bio so I had total faith in his recommendation for a Labral repair. He was never on time for my appointments and I just took that as him being highly sought out but have a career and life so I set remaining appointments with his assistant so they were on time. I went thru Tricare for the approval and received it for the surgery so we were all set to getting better. I had the surgery and as everyone has said, he has great bedside manner. Two months after the surgery my bill comes. My insurance paid for everything except the code that dr. Xenos performed. Over 40k except the two codes for the repair that was 2400 or so. The very same thing they said was covered. After rude and nasty calls from his billing office from Lauren ( think that's her name) I find out that Tricare keeps kicking it back. After ongoing calls with Tricare I find out that yes, they did approve, and that they also have the repair on a no pay list. So I continued to communicate with Tricare and dr. Xenos office to get this rectified. The billing person, Lauren, continues to be rude and condescending like i was just opting not to rectify and when Tricare requested additional paperwork she informed me she had sent it once before and wasn't doing it again. So with more communication with Tricare and Dr. x X Xenos office and trying to get this sorted I then receive a summons to court. Amazing! When talking to Tricare main, they inform me that they don't know why I received an approval for those three codes they use for the repair, but I did and they also said the Dr Xenos gets updates on no pay lists every six months so he also would be aware. At that time they say he should have going over the procedure with me and informed and discussed the portion that the insurance wouldn't cover and discuss options, costs, payments or if I wished to go thru with it. Unfortunately nothing was mentioned and I signed no waiver and months after the surgery is how I find out. Considering his prior military service and was an Officer I am utterly surprised he shared nothing of the sort. Since I have the approval from my insurance I find out that I am NOT liable and I did not sign the form from Tricare that states when something isn't covered and that I would assume responsibility. I would then decide and arrange how I would pay the portion not covered if I continued or opt out not to have the surgery. That would be the professional way I would think but yet I continue to receive harassing calls from his billing office and just this week another bill from whom they use for collections. I have Tricare and the advocates involved from Carson to ensure Dr. Xenos gets the payment they authorized and have communicated it with the rude associate in billing yet continue to receive harassing mail and phone calls. Guess what I would recommend is that if you are military, prior military then beware. Tricare has Labral repairs on a no pay list and the DR is aware. If Tricare approved, Dr. Xenos will not discuss that it is on a no pay list and let you choose if you wish to continue and arrange payment for that portion but he will allow his billing office to talk to you and treat you rudely, a criminal and a second class citizen. They WILL also arrange for the hired goons from western control services to to continue to..: do what they do I suppose. You won't receive calls back from his office to address any issues either. I continue to deal with Tricare and the advocates in Carson and will ensure it gets addressed so that no other retired or active duty patient encounters the same issues and lack of professionalism I continue to deal with.

I drove down from Fort Collins to see this doc and the whole experience was a disaster. I waited for an hour and half and then finally just left! As I checked in I should have know because there was a person scheduled 10 minutes before me with Dr. Xenos. Really you are scheduling patients 10 minutes apart?!? I need surgery and I get ten minutes...no thanks. As I waited for over an hour there were no updates from the doctor or his staff. When I asked the front desk help, they acted as if I was unreasonable for expecting to be seen quicker than an hour and 15 min. What's the point of making an appointment if you get ignored and are asked to wait this long? I would NEVER recommend this practice to anyone, ever!

I have been a patient of Dr. Xenos for almost 10 years now. He replaced my left knee in 2005. His patient and beside manner are above reproach. His commitment to your quick and complete healing is like nothing I have ever experienced before. He is kind, patient and understanding. You may have to wait to get into see him, but that is because he is taking his time with another patient and will give you the same in return for your visit.

Dr. X is great. Expect a bit of a wait since he spends as much time as needed with each patient. He is worth the wait though!

From the first contact with Dr. Xenos' office staff to my last visit after my bilateral knee replacements, I had confidence that I was in expert care. Dr. Xenos and some of his staff presented a highly informative joint replacement hospital seminar. He is dedicated to research and is highly skilled at both listening and explaining. Best of all, he gave me back my mobility and the best outcome I could imagine. Bravo, dr. Xenos!

I needed surgeries to repair a torn meniscus in each knee and a friend recommend Dr. Xenos. (My friend is a medical professional and I respected her advice). I am very particular and carefully research all my medical decisions. Dr. Xenos' credentials are top-notch and he had the reputation to match my expectations. After 2 very successful procedures, I returned to work earlier than expected, pain-free. I rapidly regained full range of motion in both legs and my therapists were really impressed. When my husband's doctor told him he would need full bilteral knee replacements, I sent him to Dr. Xenos due to my own great experience. 6 weeks out from his surgery, his incisions have healed beautifully, he is experiencing pain only ocassionally (usually in conjunction with physical therapy) and has told everyone we know that he feels like a new man. He is already returning to the active life that became so limited as his knees deteriorated. We couldn't be happier that we found such a competent, caring surgeon as Dr. Xenos.
