My husband has been seeing Dr Coney for 10+ years. As a Type 1 diabetic, his vision care is extremely important to him. Dr Coney performed laser surgery/vitrectomy shortly after my husband’s initial visit…. 10+ years later, his eyes are doing really well… he has not had to have any other procedures. While a good part of that is excellent control of his diabetes, we also believe it is a testament to Dr Coney’s expertise. He genuinely takes a great interest in his patients… he’s caring, friendly, and funny too. We love him!

Dr. Coney is kind and caring. I had a detached retina and he and his staff got me in for an emergency appointment and had it fixed the next day. They saved my vision.

Dr. Coney has given me the gift of being able to watch my grandchildren grow up. I have been a patient of Dr. Coney for at least 8 years. Three have been times I have been blind and only able to see shadows, living life in that condition is full of fear and uncertainty. Dr. Coney has never given up on me or my eyes. I have watched 3 of my grandchildren graduate from high school, and see them looking beautiful in their prom attire. I am so blessed that he travels to New Castle, PA and the burden of travelling for the highest quality of care is available in my community. There is no question Dr. Coney is an expert in his field. That said, I would not return to him. At my first visit, I had to wait an hour and a half to see the doctor. When he did arrive, he did not introduce himself and did not apologize for the delay. He was brusque and arrogant. When I tried to ask a question, he shushed me and told me not to interrupt. On my second visit, I was told I would again have to wait an hour and a half before Dr. Coney would arrive. I walked out immediately and rescheduled with a different doctor who was on time and who treats his patients with courtesy and respect.

I was referred to Dr. Coney on an emergency basis because of a sudden loss of vision due to bleeding in my eye. Because I already have very low vision in both eyes, I was frightened, especially since the loss of vision was in my better eye. Dr. Coney and staff were kind, reassuring, thorough, knowledgeable and skilled. The office has the latest equipment and Dr. Coney and staff explained each step along the way. I subsequently needed surgery to remove the blood from my eye. Again, on the day of the surgery, I felt I was in the best of hands. Since the surgery I am now able to see as I did before. I am so thankful not only that Ican again see, but for the kindness and support I was shown along the way!

Dr Coney is very well educated and communicates with his patients with genuine concern. He explains my eye problems thoroughly and understandably . He answers any questions I have thoroughly. My sister was also a patient of Dr Coney and loved him. I would recommend him to anyone.

The first time I met Dr. Coney and staff was an emergency visit. You can’t imagine the urgency and the fear I felt not being able to see normal. Dr. Coney and staff were very understanding. They eased my fear and anxiety by answering all my questions. The friendly and professional atmosphere was also a plus. After my first visit I googled Dr. Coney. I was so impressed with his credentials and accomplishments Each visit the process was explained. I was informed what I should expect and experience. Dr. Coney was very observant of my anxiety and my fear and addressed it accordingly. I was informed of programs that would assist with the cost of treatment, which I greatly appreciated. Dr. Coney saved my eye!!! I was being given upsetting news about the condition of my eye and so I sought a second opinion from Dr. Coney. He provided excellent and compassionate care and was able to recommend an alternative path that saved my eye. I am incredibly grateful to him and the staff at Retina Associates for their care and attention to me.

Dr. Coney is very professional and my mom received excellent care. And he is also very funny!
