Dr. Joseph Edward Nolan, MD

I’m a long term patient of Trident Pain Center and appreciate the level of care and kindness that I always receive from Dr Nolan and all of his employees — physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, med technologists, front staff office and everyone involved in my treatment. When you are in chronic pain long term, it’s very difficult to manage snd affects all aspects of your life, your families’ and everyone you come in contact with. Dr Nolan’s knowledge, bedside manner and kindness trickles down to every member of his office and they all treat me like family. Some days, I’m in so much pain that it’s difficult to do anything. If in acute pain, they always work me in quickly with a considerate attitude, never fussy or derogatory. Even if Dr Nolan is at another location, I know I will receive the same wonderful, skillful care and kindness that I’ve learned to depend on. Pain is not easy to live with … Trident Pain Center keeps me going with as little pain as possible. Love you guys !!!

I just recently visited Dr. Nolan for a shot in my neck or at least that's what I was supposed to get. I not only didn't get the shot in my neck, but I was treated like a drug addict. I told them that I wasn't there for pain medicine but still was treated like I was. He didn't even look at the MRI, but automatically knew what my problem was. My husband tried to tell him what the doctor that referred me there said and he told him he didn't want to hear it. I'm now to supposed to go to 15 visits of pt and have a ton of blood work done. They couldn't get my blood so wanted me to get it done at my regular doctor's office. I just took it to my doctor and he said why would he need all this blood work and wouldn't do them because he felt they were unnecessary.

I have been a patient of Dr. Nolan for over 5 years. The biggest and the most annoying problem is the nurses aren't returning your phone calls in a reasonable amount of time. If you miss their call back , you may have to wait another 24 hours. Please get rid of the nurse's answering machine and hire someone for the patients to talk to Your waiting room is always full on injection day.

Dr. Nolan helped me get my life back! I had been to so many doctors in the first few years who could not help me, but did eventually help diagnose my CRPS/RSD. Once I finally had a diagnosis, you would have thought I was terminal, and there was no hope, bc No-one had any treatment options and only offered pain meds to try and keep me comfortable. I felt hopeless and had just about given up on ever having any kind of quality of life! Then I went to see Dr. Nolan and everything changes! Yes, my CRPS / RSD pain is lifelong and yes, it certainly changed my life, but because of Dr. Nolan CRPS / RSD no longer controls my life!! He has literally put the ‘Quality’ back in my quality of life. He is very knowledgeable about my condition and the treatment options. He goes beyond standard of care to ensure you get the best treatment option available. Even though insurance doesn’t usually cover my treatment, he fought for me! With his knowledge, support, and commitment to making patients better, my insurance finally approved my treatment (ongoing successfully for years now)! I now have hope that I’ll be able to live a better life! Even though my life has changed forever bc of CRPS / RSD, I’m happy to say that I am now living a happier, healthier, and much more fulfilled life because of him! Yes, I still have bad days, but they are far fewer than they were before I put my trust in him! While I may not get to see him at every visit, I am still treated very well by his knowledgeable team. Dr Nolan is a Pro & The Best

I have been going to Pain Management Doctors for five years on the East Coast. Joseph Edward Nolan is the worse. Insults you with comments like, I am not just a Pill Doctor you need many shots and Lab test so I can run your Medicare/Healthcare provider bill up for profit!! He has no compassion for patients and very arrogant person. I have been on low dose opioid medication for years never abusing them. I came to him for help and compassion about pain. I had three MRI for Back, Neck Knee and Shoulder with me my first visited, Joseph E Nolan didn't even want to look at them. He assumed I was there for pills not treatment and care for my pain. My worse experience with Pain Management Doctor ever.

I have been with Dr. Nolan about 5 years. In that time his practice has grown immensely. Sure It takes longer now to get injections but there is always a longer wait for the good doctors! His waiting room is ALWAYS packed. He is a kind, patient and excellent doctor who DOES care about his patients. Sometimes when our doctor is curt we think he doesn't care. That's not always the case. Maybe he was having a bad day or you were having a bad day. We are all human. His injections are always on target and his office staff try very hard to keep everyone happy in a high pace environment.

I see a lot of negative which seems to be by maybe the same person. I have been with Dr. Nolan for about 6 mos and he has been awesome a wonderful pain specialist that has helped me with the pain in my back and cervical area. I would recommend him to anyone with pain issues. He is caring and yes because of the growing clients he sometimes has to use his PA. That just shows he must be doing something right. If the clients are growing and people are wanting to go to him.

Total pill and needle mill now, has six offices (how can one doctor work six offices) to make as much money as possible. Staff unresponsive and terrified of upsetting "the boss" instead of taking care of patients. Not a good place.

The medical technician and Dr. Nolan were very courteous and informative. The nurse practitioner was rude. She laughed at my questions and anxiety about the shot. Everyone else was very kind and respectful.

Dr Nolan is very arrogant, does not listen to the patient needs, spent 30 minutes over my appointment time..

I have been in pain management since 1993 and have been seeing Dr. Nolan for two years now, and would say without a doubt that he and his staff are by far the best facility that I have ever been involved with.

I have been a patient of Doctor Nolan and his staff for over a year now. I am being seen by him for a persistent Occipital headache and chronic migraine headaches. He is one of the best doctors that I have ever had the privilege of caring for me. With his breakthrough procedure of Sphenocath my migraines have all but disappeared. He and his staff are 100 % responsible for a better change in my whole standard of living since the migraines started in 1993. I have been seen for over 20 years by different doctors for my headaches and have finally found someone that cares about me more than a paycheck or a bottom line. I honestly don't know what I would do without him Allison or Kristen. I would recommend his practice to anyone suffering from chronic pain. They not only know what they are doing but care about their patients more than any service provider that I have ever had.

I Love Dr Nolan!!!!!! I don't know if I would be here without him. His practice has grown greatly since I met him. He is very busy and tries to make time for a lot of people who need help. He spends time with you if you need him to or he gets in and out so he can help the next person. I am OK with that because when I need to see him he is there. I met him for the first time white knuckles, shaking and tears in my eyes scared to death. I had been poked, stuck, and cut on till I was a nervous wreck. Every doctor I have been to for pain relief always hurt me when treating me; I have screamed and cried at other treatment facilities. In all the years I have been going to Dr Nolan I have cried once. Dr Nolan goal is to have as little pain as possible during your visit. I have very little pain and sometimes none when he treats me. He is busy and yes he is very good at his job. Visits can be time consuming but they try to keep things at a fast pace. 2 or 3 hrs is a norm to get a procedure done from entering his office to your exit home. Would not go anywhere else........ Again I will go without fail every time because he helps me. Thank you Dr Nolan.

Dr. Nolan is such a caring doctor and takes the time to listen to your problems and tries to come up with a solution to help you feel better. I have never had a doctor like Dr. Nolan. His staff is just as great. His PA Kristen Giet is just as caring. They are a awesome team!! I would highly recommend everyone to ths practice. Everyone from the front desk to check out process is wonderful. I can tell that Dr. Nolan strives for this behavior and beleive that when he hires someone to work in his practice that these are he qualities he looks for: caring and kindness.

This doctor is nothing more than an ambulance chasing fraud. I have to question Trident for even letting him practice under their name.

Personality has changed from a caring Physician to arrogant and patronizing person. I think he needs to remember who pays his bills {the patients). We all have different experiences with Doctors, I understand this and respect others opinions, Dr. Nolan should do the same. How unprofessional of him to raise his voice and forget why I am there, because my outcome with certain surg. was not positive. Even great Docs. have unfortunate outcomes no one has a 100% good outcomes. Espescially surgery.

I have been a patient of Dr.Nolan's for almost 4 years.The first year I thought he was a great Doctor, He (a staff member)ordered me a back brace,& a stimulator,& a brace & stimulator combo, for walking to try & revive DEAD nerves.The 2nd year,I was in transition between him & his Physicians Assistant(PA). The 3rd year, I SAID NO MORE $4500. injections & I had to finally take a letter from my insurance company where they REFUSED to pay for anymore $2500. Urine test, that was so outrageous for a urine screen,& I have been seeing his P.A. every since. The 4th year, Well we are 5 months into the 4th year,I have been seeing his P.A. for a year and a half now on the same strength of pain medication for 3 yearsnow with no increase or questions regarding the strength or if I am still getting the same results NOTHING!!!So I asked for a small increase because the company changed the formulation of the medication I take, & I have some digestive disorders, so the NEW formulation is difficult for my body to absorb, I got to actually see him Wednesday as a patient for the first time in 16 months, when I tried to explain to him about the new formulation of my medication, & that I wanted to change to a medication that was not extended release, You would have thought I committed a crime. He said No we are going to leave that alone for right now, & bring you back in 1 week for injections in your neck & shoulders, the nurse will be right back in a few minutes, & out the door he goes.I truly feel like he takes that first assesment, to treat you indefinitely!HOWEVER Trident Pain Center has the BEST staff of any DOCTOR I have ever been to, their bed side manner is AWESOME! & SO is DR. NOLAN'S, However I feel like he is arrogant & thinks he can fix it all, BUT that is not the case with me. I have decided to look for another doctor. And they are hard to come by in 30 days! ~STILL IN PAIN~

Dr. Nolan is very arrogrant, he tries to tell you what you are experiencing before you can explain. Truly for the money, keep referring you to get injections. When you try to explain or ask questions he ignors you. Do not recommend this doctor. He has forgotten who his money comes through (patients)maybe because its like a meat market there. It has gone to his head...

Dr. Nolan has helped with some of the pain I have. I have been seeing him for quite sometime. In the beginning he was very caring and I was hopeful. Now that the injections and the pain medications are not adequate for me to live a decent life with tolerable pain levels, he is no longer the same caring doctor. He is short with me and does not listen to me. Many of my visits for injections have lasted for hours.
