Dr. Joseph William George

Went to Dr with injured knee. He spent all of 15 seconds diagnosing because he had to get to another patient. Told me knee was bruised. I had to ask 3-4 times for an MRI. He finally wrote the order and said “I don’t even know what I am looking for”. After the MRI I had a torn ACL and other damage to the knee. Dr said it was my fault for tensing up during the exam. That’s why he missed major trauma to the knee. Worst dr I have ever seen. Could care less about a patient unless they needed an expensive knee replacement. Mis diagnosed issues can cause major issues down the road. This guy had god syndrome.

I'm 58 yrs old and very active. I work out 4 times a week for 45 minutes to an hour. I still like sports but I also know my limitations at my age. Dr. George is not only very personable but he's also an excellent surgeon. Today is exactly 3 weeks since Dr. George performed anterior total hip replacement. The day of my surgery I reported to Cleveland Clinic Avon facility at 7am. By 8:30 am I was being prep'd for surgery. It lasted about 2 hours total. Two hours after surgery I was walking using a walker and, with instruction from a PT, was walking up stairs. By 6:30pm that afternoon I was released to go home! I used a walker for about 3 days and then went to a cane. After another few days I did not need the cane. I went back to work after 1.5 weeks (wife drove me). I am thrilled! After a 2.5 weeks I was back to driving myself. My advice is to get the anterior surgery. The recovery is quicker than other methods. By all means, do NOT get hip resurfacing. The recovery is long and there are issues with it's metal on metal prosthesis. I was off all pain meds after one week. After 3 weeks it's still (understandably) a bit stiff in front of my leg since that is where Dr. George went in to replace the hip. I'm getting around great. I went to a Cleveland Indians baseball game 2.5 weeks after surgery. Advice: Make sure you do the exercises on schedule, ice it 4 to 5 times a day the first couple weeks and take a stool softener AND a laxative the first 2 weeks. You don't want to get bound up. Dr. George receives my strongest recommendation. Disregard those comments who say he's not personable. It's just not right and if results are the measurement success then Dr. George should be at the top of your list.
