Dr. Karen Ann Zino, MD

I met Dr. Zino in a rushed situation being admitted through our local emergency room department. I was truly blessed with her being the Dr. that God chose to send to me!! I honestly feel that this woman saved my life and I will forever be grateful!! I wish I could have thanked her more than just the words.. she DEFINITELY deserves the compassion award I now know she is recognized for!! Thank you so much Dr. Zino!!!

The first day I met Dr. Karen Zino, I felt that I had won the Dr. lottery. I finally felt that I met a medical professional that understood me, my needs, and fully had my back. She always went above and beyond no matter what. I had never met a Dr. that explaiuned everything with such detail. Sadly, she moved away and I have truly struggled to find anyone that can compare to her.

Dr. Zino delivered my daughter in Montana. I came.to her late in my pregnancy since my daughter was frank breech. She took excellent care of me and my daughter and walked my husband and I through a complicated couple of weeks. She was AMAZING and I felt totally comfortable with her!

Dr. Zino was my doctor for about four years. She as more then just my doctor she was a really good friend. She is a very compassionate person and cares very much about her all of her patients. She is a very intelligent woman and in my opinion the best at her job. I will always have respect for her and I will never meet such an incredible doctor again in my life time. Dr. Zino I miss you tons and GOD is going to bless you tremendously!!!

Dr. Zino is truly one of a kind. From the beginning she sat with me for an hour and talked through everything in my files -- I immediately felt comfortable with her, as if I'd known her for years. She is an amazing woman and doctor and I would recommend her to anyone!

Dr. Zino is extremely personable and friendly. It was always nice to see her and every time I came in to the office the time would go by really quickly because she is so nice to talk with. She is very professional and prepared for each appointment. She is unique in that she cares so much about every one of her patients. It is obvious by the prompt responses and attention to detail.

I have been going to see Dr. Zino for the past three years since first coming to Greenwich. I have only had pleasant experiences. Dr. Zino is thorough, she listens, remembers, and always follows up. I highly recommend her.

I have been a patient of Dr. Karen Zino going on three years now. It has been a wonderful experience. I came to her practice VBAC hopeful and I felt nothing but support from the moment I met her. She has amazing beside manner and I developed an excellent report with her. Although I did not have a VBAC I felt that Dr. Zino was very invested in my health and well being. She made my birth experience incredible. It was the best repeat cesarean I could have ever hoped for, and Dr. Zinoâ??s ability to be compassionate really contributed to that. I only see her annually now, but each time I go in for an appointment it feels like I am visiting a good friend.

She's been very caring and showed love. She was focused on getting things done before I leave her clinic. She wants to be updated with everything knowing the fact I was in critical condition. She made me feel comfortable every time I see her.

From the moment I stepped into the office the first time, I have felt nothing but at ease. The staff is welcoming and make you feel comfortable. After I left my previous OBGYN I did not have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by the holistic approach that Dr. Zino practices. I also was amazed by the way Dr. Zino listens, makes notes and finally knows you as the time goes by.When the time came for us to conceive again, we experienced a great care by the entire staff, but especially by Dr. Zino. She answered all our questions, and we had many! She calmed our nerves, and we were very nervous! She listened to all our wishes. Even then we still did not know what to expect when time comes to deliver our second baby.I have to say, once again we were astonished as Dr. Zino stood by what she speaks. She practices what she preaches, and that is very hard to find!Dr. Zino is a true advocate for her patients and with great expertise and confidence makes even difficult situation turn into a positive experience!I will recommend Dr. Zino to all my friends and family and continue being her patient! I am very sorry to have to write this review, but I feel it's necessary to share an absolutely horrendous experience with Dr. Zino and her practice.We were recommended to her by RMA, after an absolutely flawless, human and collaborative experience with both Norwalk and Stamford locations. My wife and I really cannot say enough about the staff and doctors there. So we had high hopes and expectations for Dr. Zino, not to mention the natural anxiety that goes with a first pregnancy after a year of attempts (RMA is a fertility clinic).Our first meeting with her I would characterize as above average. Very warm bedside manner, seemingly open to the fact that we would be moving, which naturally would mean that she would not see us through to term. She did "reveal" the sex (of our twins) at week 10, which seemed a bit surprising, considering week 10 is typically considered too early to tell and that she never asked us if we were interested in knowing. At the end of our appointment, there was a bit of a public dust up between her and one of the office staff who had photocopied something incorrectly, but we just chalked it up to the possibility that she has a brusque management style and is a real patient-first doc. "Let's get these good people on their way with the right information!" We did get on our way, which meant my wife began driving cross-country. She had scheduled her next doctor's appointment in Chicago, 4 weeks from that point. She is excessively organized generally and has been very diligent about her pregnancy, so she began calling to request her records be forwarded (which is obviously a prerequisite for a new doctor visit). This is where things went sideways. My wife called every single day, for 18 days, requesting the records. Every single day Dr. Zino was unavailable to speak with her, and every single day the front office declared they would send the records that day, which they did not.On the 18th day, which was the Friday before her appointment early the following week, she called for the last time. The office had closed unexpectedly (they're normally open on Fridays), and so she spoke to a representative of her after-hours answering service named Kim. Rather than assist her in what had become a predicament, Kim proceeded to deride my wife's management of her own pregnancy to the point of bringing her to tears. When my mother in law took the phone, Kim hung up on her. My wife called me, sobbing, and explained the situation. So I tried calling the office. As I began to--as calmly as possible--explain that we had a kind of emergency and needed to speak to Dr. Zino about sending records that would enable a milestone checkup, Kim interrupted me with "Let me guess, (my wife's name)'s husband." I reiterated, now more strongly, my need to speak with someone who could help us, rather than berate us, at which point Kim stated that she'd now spoken to my "entire family," and "didn't have to take this," and hung up on me. I then wrote a pleading email to Dr. Zino, explaining the situation, detailing the shocking lack of professionalism, even using the word "desperation" to describe our collective state of mind. I did not receive a response, now one week later and counting.Perhaps there are strange extenuating circumstances to explain the forgetfulness (I forgot to mention that the office called to try to cancel my wife's second appointment an hour before it was scheduled to take place!) or the absence of organization (new front office staff, for instance?), but the lack of communication and the absolute void of professionalism (I forgot to add that Dr. Zino left me a message that she was concerned about recent test results--after my wife had sequential screenings and some other unimportant tests performed, and the "concern," we found out later pertained to the inconsequential ones) is inexcusable. Anytime, but especially when a woman is pregnant for the first time, after having tried for years to fulfill her dream of becoming so. I think it's fair to say that an OB and every single person in her office, at the very least, should do everything possible to reduce the stress and worry that naturally comes with the pregnancy process. To actually become a source of anxiety is patently inexcusable. I warn anyone that may be swayed by the positive reviews to reconsider. You might have a 4 star experience, as some have, and I hope you do. But you could also have an experience like ours, which I would reflect in a negative star rating, if that were possible.

We wanted a natural birth so badly especially after first unwanted c-section. Dr. Zino provided us with the best care, advice, and finally an amazing birthing experience! She truly listened and followed through! It is amazing how wonderfully it feels to have a doctor on your side who stiks up for you! A trully great Dr!

I just had a wonderful myomectomy surgery experience under the hands of Dr. Zino. My previous Doctor recommended a hysterectomy due to my uterine fibroids. I was 28 at the time with no kids yet. Fast forward 3 years to meeting Dr. Zino. She studied my older imagery and sent me to get a round of updated imagery. She followed up with doing her own, in office, ultrasounds to get a thorough sense of exact locations and types to create the best surgical plan for what turned out to be 6 fibroids to be removed and at least one was quite large and in a complicated location. She's so caring, competent, and optimistic, and she made me smile when discussing this main problem fibroid as being "tricky-dicky." (and let me say, it's not always so easy to smile when dealing with a child bearing barrier when in the room next door all you hear are little heart beats)I started referring to it as "ol' tricky-dicky" myself to my mom and husband as we planned his demise. Knowing she would be my surgeon was as comforting as can be, especially since we had determined my fibroids required a c-section style incision to get at "tricky-dicky". With her hugs, perpetually optimistic manner, and surgical skill, my recovery was a breeze in my eyes. She called me the night of my surgery to check in, so sweet and so encouraging and pushed me to try and stand up with help once that night. It was daunting but I did it. I was supposed to stay for 48 hrs at Stamford hospital (which is a rave review experience itself, my pain management was fantastic) but by 24 hours I was able to walk around with a bit of a hunched posture of course, but felt I could go home and so I did that night. She called me again after a week home outside of her office hours, just to check in. Even on my own at home, on a scale of 1-10 my pain never went above a 4 or so that first week. I took 2 weeks off from work and went back without problems. All looked good at the 4 week check-up and at 7-8 weeks I was looking for permission to jog because if I didn't have a scar I'd never know I had such an invasive surgery by the feel of it! What more can I say than I've never actually LOVED a doctor before. She's seen me through this whole process, making herself available to me. She is so genuine, so kind, so huggable..truly an OB/GYN Goddess!!

I had to get a total adominal hysterectomy. Dr. Zino went beyond her duty as a doctor. The office staff is great. In addition, to the surgery Dr. Zino made sure my treatment in hospital was excellent. I can be a difficult patient and Dr. Zino understood that my hormones were raging and that I was in constant pain. She listened to me when I told her my concerns about my children and my job. I had let my care go about my breasts. Dr. Zino was firm with me about taking care of this because of the chance of cancer. I made my appointment the next day and it came out fine. Overall, Dr. Zino is caring, competent doctor and surgeon.

Dr. Zino is a-maz-ing. She radiates expertise, confidence, and gentleness, all in the same breath. And as a first-time Mom-to-Be, thats exactly what I was hoping to find in an OB/GYN. Her infinite knowledge, lighthearted demeanor, and overtly nurturing heart truly manifested as a beacon of light for my husband and me. I first met her at a How to Avoid a C-Section seminar where she was speaking. It was a victory revelation for me: I had to switch to her as my doctor. For the education and comfort she provided, along with what I felt in my heart and gut, validated this miracle of birth could truly be a natural, safe experience. And from our first appointment to now 5 weeks after my son was born shes made herself incredibly available to us, and secured my implicit trust.When one's doctor enters the room, one should feel comforted and relieved verse stressed and defensive. And thats what Dr. Zino did for me. I will absolutely stick with her for all my births, and I absolutely encourage you to do the same.

I have waited 20 years to find an OB/GYN with the knowledge, compassion, flexibility, and genuine concern that Dr. Zino has. I finally feel that my body and health are in good hands and I am forever grateful to her for that. Over the years I have felt like a number at my OB/GYN and don't believe my doctor even remembered my name, even the doctor that delivered my sons. What a sigh of relief to find Dr. Zino where I have never felt rushed in my appointments and have been able to openly ask questions and get the answers I've been dying for. Additonally, the staff (including and the front desk and nurses) at Riverside OB/GYN are professional, kind, and always helpful. I have referred friends and family members to Dr. Zino's practice and they have all come back with rave reviews about their experience.

I first met with Dr. Zino more than a year ago as I was having a hard time deciding whether to have another child after experiencing some health issues following the delivery of my first. Dr. Zino sat down with my husband and I and spent more than 40 minutes talking through my health history, hearing my concerns and offering balanced and thoughtful counsel. She didn't tell me what to do but she made me feel extremely confident that she would provide the kind of support I would need should we decide to have another baby. We did and Dr. Zino did not disappoint. She took the time to listen and advise at every pre-natal appointment and gave me exceptional, personalized care. When I safely delivered my healthy baby I truly felt like Dr. Zino and I were "in it together." She's wonderful!

I was referred to Dr. Zino by a friend who is also a patient of Dr. Zino's. I recently saw her in the last couple of weeks as a new patient for a problem visit. I haven't seen a Gyn physician in about 3 years just because like all of us, I just hate going to the Gyn doctor! I must say, this was the best Gyn visit I have ever had. She was extremely thorough, had a great bedside manner, and was so easy to talk to. She never rushed me and explained everything so I could actually understand what was going on.I needed a referral to another physician in which Dr. Zino's office staff called to check if they accepted my insurance. Then they actually made the appointment for me. After I left the office on Friday, Dr. Zino called me on Saturday morning to check and see how I was feeling. I had additional questions which she took time in answering and spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me.Since my visit with this Doctor, I have made 2 other referrals to her. I highly recommend her. These kind of doctors are very hard to find.

Was discharged as a patient right before Dr. Zino was suppose to do surgery on me. She discharged me because I was yelling in her office. I was yelling because she had cancelled two appointments on me in one month, my mother just died, I was late for my appointment due to a car/bus accident and was told I could not get the Pap Smear?pre-OP appointment I had waited a month for! Now, as a discharged patient who has had severe vaginal hemorrhage for over 6 months , and unusual discharge for 3 months I was rejected treatment by Dr. Zino because my anger made her feel "Uncomfortable" No compassion or concern for the health of the patient. She said she did not like the way I yelled at her obnoxious snobbish secretary. On several occasions I called to speak to Dr. Zino about my condition because she cancelled twice and I was told she was too busy to call me back. The last two appointments I was there I waited over 45 minutes in the actual medical room and the appointment before that I waited over one hour to see her. Yet I was 4o minutes late because of a bus accident and was turned away. This is why I lost it! Lousy doctor, poor service, no compassion, respect for her patients or their health. She had not even given me a pap smear after my third appointment with her and she wanted to operate on me without even knowing if I had cancer or not. Snotty, rude white nurse and girls that work there. It is all about THEM, and not about the patient. I am glad she dismissed me...blessing!! I would not want her incompetent hands inside me!!

Dr.Zino is very professional and caring towards her patients. She is very helpful and understanding. I had no problems with my implanon because she is the best at what she does. She is very knowledgeable and I trust her one hundred percent. She also takes tricare for military members :) That is a huge plus!!! I like Dr. Zino because of her caring nature. She is the best!!!!
