Dr. Kenneth Francis Casey, MD

I had a failed MVD at the Mayo Clinic. My surgeon never once would even consider that perhaps he had missed something. (I had visible compressions on my MRI!) My neurosurgeon at the Mayo completely wrote me off and said there was nothing more he could do for me. Thanks to a re-do with Dr. Casey, the other compressions were found and resolved. That was 8 years ago and I am still pain free! Yes, he talks a lot, and yes he talks about his work through the years. He’s a neurosurgeon! I’ve met several (unfortunately) and they are an unusual breed. ??

I first met Dr. Casey about 3 years ago about my trigeminal neuralga . We first tried medication, but that only worked for a year or so. He then gave me the option of the micro surgery. He explained all the complications which could occure and the pain was so severe that i opted for the surgery. The out come was instant relief. I would recommend Dr. Casey for help with this problem. Thank you very much Doctor.

Saw Dr. Casey for a surgical procedure for Trigeminal Neuralgia. This was told to be a 3 day ordeal. I ended up in Intensive Care for 5 days. The surgery did not work and it changed my quality of life forever. Please be careful . His people skills are the worst. He makes his visits late nights so he doesn’t have to see people. This was never talked about. Get the worst case scenarios. Big Mistake on our part.

Dr. Casey is awesome! Can't express enough how much he understood my pain with trigeminal Neuralgia. He performed a MVD on me and it has been 15 months since surgery and as of now no pain. Still have some numbness on the side of my face where he performed surgery. He is remarkable.! Would recommend to anyone.

In my opinion Dr Casey is one of the best of the few neurosurgeons who specializes in treating facial pain. He coauthored the 'bible' of facial pain titled "Striking Back". I flew from Texas to Detroit three times last year to set up and have motor cortex stimulation surgery for trigeminal neuropathic pain and trigeminal deafferentation pain. Although I have not yet received total relief from the pain, we are still doing trials on different settings. I would still see Dr Casey for any facial pain treatments. He truly cares about people who suffer from these terrible conditions.

Dr. Casey sets the bar for doctors. He cuts right to what needs to be done and what he tells you is accurate.

Dr. Casey put in my Motor Cortex Simulator for Anesthesia Dolorosa 6 years ago and it is still working for me. I have heard him speak at TNA Conferences and came to San Diego to talk to my Support Group here. I had to take reservations for this and it seems like everyone who know Dr. Casey was coming to SD was there.

This doctor is patient focused and so passionate about helping. For somebody dealing with trigeminal neuralgia, he certainly is the man to see.

Dr. Casey is very smart; that much is apparent. However, his bedside manner is horrible. I know that doctors ask questions to assess the patient but his questioning was more like that of a prosecuting attorney in a cross-examination. He asked questions about what happened during an eye surgery I had, a surgery during which I was not fully awake and do not remember. I did know know, or remember, where exactly the local anesthetic was administered near my eye. Nor did I remember who did the injection. Dr. Casey seemed impatient when I did not know the answers to the questions he was asking. I was to find out the answers to his questions and go back for a follow-up. I did talk to my eye surgeon and get that information, however, I will not go back to Dr. Casey with it. I don't expect for every doctor to have a great bedside manner, but I also don't need to feel as if I'm a hostile witness when I'm needing care for my issue.

A brilliant Dr. Trust him implicitly.

The most intelligent doctor I have ever met. He diagnosed my problem immediately.

I can't say enough good things about Dr.Casey! He gave me my life back. Dr.Casey did my second MVD surgery less than a week ago. He unlike the pervious surgeon I was seeing was able to do it right! I am completely pain free! Dr.Casey was with me the entire time before I went to sleep for surgery and was sitting next to me when I woke up. He is truly one of a kind. I work in healthcare and have never seen a doctor stay with their patients like Dr.Casey did with me. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a neurosurgeon. He is truly a blessing from God epically people suffering from TN.

I had TN and GN for about 6 months before finding Dr. Casey. I owe my life to this man. To keep it short he explain to me what was going on inside my body, explained what medications were available and what surgical procedures were available. At the end of the apt. I had plenty of knowledge of the issue I had and what my options were. Long story short 2 months later Dr. Casey performed a MDV surgery on me and I have 95% pain relief for three years at this point. If you are suffering from either of these issues I would highly recommend Dr. Casey.

Doctor Casey, I've never met you before, but I wanted to say thank you for saving my moms life, if it wasn't for you she wouldn't be here today. Thank you for changing not only her life, but mine with her. She's been coaching me in softball for the past 10 years and has been my only parent in my life, i'm a lot to handle at times, but because your operation was successful, she's more able to do more things. you're my hero!

I meet Dr Casey as a terrified 28 year old who has been diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma. Even worse yet for Dr Casey he had to deal with my over bearing mother. He handled us both with ease and when we left his office I knew he was the surgeon for me. He took the time to answer every question imaginable and when we were done he even provided us with some common questions we had missed. Dr Casey was the third and final neurosurgeon I met with. Ultimately Dr Casey did perform my surgery and it went rather seamlessly. Ibwould recommend him to anyone without a doubt.

I had a stroke almost 2 years ago and being only 31 it was rather scary. Dr. Casey was my Dr in the E.R and from that point on he has helped me through the most difficult times. He has always explained things to me without sugar coating them and i a way I would understand them. Some how his best side manner always made me feel I would be ok even when it wasnt certain. In the 2 years there was plenty of times I would email him with random questions and he would not hesitate to answer everything I would throw at him. I lost my Insurance for over a year and in that time he made sure that I knew he was not Dr that was in this for money. I had a very young Daughter and had an appointment when we had a snow storm. He called me and had my appointment over the phone from his office so I wouldnt have to take her out in the weather. The amount of help he has given me through emails while I had no insurance is remarkable. All so I could eventually get better. He is a Doctor that I wish most cost be half as good. He is truly what a Doctor should aspire to be. It is very sad what happened to me but I am truly blessed that he was the Dr that came into my room the day I had my Stroke, and for that I am grateful. On a side note, His PA Jen is just as an amazing person as he is. I only met her a few times but each time she always had a way about her to make me feel comfortable around her.

I read the reviews below and I have to say my experience was completely different. I went in with my MRI's in hand and Dr. chuckled and said the other dr.'s said you have MS right? I said yes but I didn't think I had it, he agreed and said no you have trigeminal neuralgia. He performed brain surgery 5 years ago, and I have to tell you I have my life back. I suffered for several years going from doctor to doctor being told I need to go on Copaxin, drug for MS and I refused, thank goodness I did because I didn't have MS I had TN. I recommend all woman who get a diagnosis of MS to get another opinion, you probably don't have it, its just because they aren't sure what you have. Dr. Casey saved my life, for that I'm thankful!!!

Does not listen , comes to is own conclusion way to fast right or WRONG!! I had 2 appointments to many, he sent me to theapy for my kneck, i had a plate where i had surgery before and now 3 bulgiing disc told him after the first month the theapy was giving me more problems at the second vist, he tells me another month of theapy. I'm looking for another doctor. My conclusion go else where........
