Dr. Kenneth Allen Essig, MD

If I could give a -1, I would. Went in with terrible pain, told me to not drink so much water because that was the "old" way.

Good personality and very nice.

I too was a patient of Dr. Essig at his Clermont and Ocoee offices. Had been seeing him for several years for ongoing kidney stones and was very satisfied with the treatment he had been providing. I had an appointment scheduled this Spring and called the office to find out if I needed to have any tests done before the appointment, only to find that his phone had been disconnected. After calling both Health Central and South Lake hospital, I found that he was no longer on staff and had closed his offices. He provided no notice to me and if the other recent reviews are accurate, to his other patients. I find this to be extremely unprofessional.

Dr Essig closed his Clermont office with no notice to any of his patients. I only learned of his departure when I went for a scheduled appointment and found the space occupied by a massage business. Certainly not a very ethical way to run a practice.

Dr. Essig moved from his Citrus Tower Blvd office, and did not have the courtesy, or professionalism to provide patients with new office location, and phone number. When I tried calling his number, it was disconnected with no new phone # provided, Had to drive to his office to find out he had moved!

This "doctor" and his staff a joke! Good luck, your appointment will be canceled guaranteed!

Moved his office in Feb. 2015. Dint even call to let us know he moved, and I had an apptontment with him. Very poor professionalism on his behalf.

Misdiagnosed a family member, who ended up with bladder cancer. Terrible demeanor too.

Dr Essig saved my life when I developed prostate cancer. I had a racical prostectomy in 2001. I made a remarkable recovery and am fit and well in 2014, Wonderful dedicated doctor.

Dr. Essig provided me with the information and expertise I was looking for when faced with prostate cancer. I wasn't sure what treatment was right for me and Dr. Essig took the time to explain and evaluate my specific disease and what treatment would be best in his opinion. I would recommend Dr. Essig to friends and family and already have on multiple occasions. Thank you Dr. Essig for your time and attention.

I had two appointments with Dr Essig. He showed up over an hour late for both. The first time he blamed it on the weather. The second time no excuse. I was the first one there and the last to be seen. They forgot about me! His staff is very unfriendly and incompetent . They ask me to take a test I already had taken! The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Dr Essig did not leave me feeling confident. I have a strange feeling I have been misdiagnosed ! Would NOT refer Dr Essig to anyone. Find another doctor!

I love Dr. Essig! He has helped me so much! His office manager is amazing!!!!

I am not sure why the other patients would have made comments about this doctor. He is the best and very caring provider. He listens and is attentive to all of his patients. His office is ROCKS!!!

I have several bad experiences with Dr. Essig and was wondering if it was all in my head until now. I'm glad I'm not the only one to see how uncaring and unprofessional that he is. How ironic is it that when you go to a urologist that there's no bathing room in the waiting room. You have to ask the front desk clerk for "permission" . I'm usually there waiting for an hour or more and I am embarrased to ask to use the restroom several times. Uhh Duh...that's the one place that you should feel safe and confident with your medical issues. Twice he told me to keep a running log of how much liquid went in me and out of me. I went through a lot of trouble both times, only to have him do a two second glance then hand me back the paper...like I was the idiot. Helllloooo??? If you're reading this..find another doctor!!!

he said he would call me with test results three times in one week. he does not do what he says he will do. i don't understand why he doesn't call. his receptionist is very nice and apoligizes for him, but he doesn't call.

I MUST AGREE WITH THE OTHER COMMENT LEFT BY THE PERSON WHO SAID THAT HER INFORMATION WAS GIVEN IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. I HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THAT IS A HIPPA VIOLATION AND CAN BE BROUGHT TO THE MEDICAL BOARD. IT IS VERY SERIOUS! I HAVE ALREADY COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS MYSELF. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SAY THAT HIS OFFICE IS VERY UNPROFFESIONAL, RUDE, AND UNCARING. THE DOCTOR HIMSELF HAS NO CARE IN THE WORLD! DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANYONE. I WOULD NOT RECCOMMEND THIS OFFICE TO ANYONE!

I have been a loyal patient of Dr Essig for almost three years now and there aren't enough good things I can say about my experience. He saved my life. I had renal cell carcinoma and he removed one of my kidneys. I have had no recurrance of the cancer. When I first went to Dr Essig and he explained that I needed to have a biopsy done to determine the nature of the problem and the extent of the next stage of treatment, I was very reluctant to have the procedure performed. I actually had my wife cancel the procedure as I wanted to get a second opinion. It was a very invasive procedure and I just wanted to be sure. Within 10 minutes of my wife cancelling the procedure, Dr Essig called me himself. He stressed that it was fine to seek another opinion but I could not let this issue go untreated, he wanted to be sure I understood the seriousness of the problem and the necessity of prompt treatment. I did in fact go to have a second opinion and the other doctor said that what Dr Essig recommended was EXACTLY what needed to be done. I went back to Dr Essig for the procedure. The procedure proved that I did need to have my complete kidney removed and the ureter. The procedure was scheduled immediately and within two weeks, Dr Essig removed my kidney. When I came to after the surgery. the first thing I remember seeing was Dr Essig's face through the hospital room door. I knew that everything went well because he had a pleased, content look on his face.l It was obvious from his expression that I was going to be OK. My wife spent the week in the hospital with me and was also extremely satisfied with the way Dr Essig explained my condition and the care he gave me both in and out of the hospital. I still see Dr Essig on a regular basis and I just can not say enough good things about him. He is a caring professional and has always treated me with a calm confidence and expert treatment. I have recommeded Dr Essig to other friends of mine and they have all been very pleased with his treatment. I think some of the issues the unhappy patient who wrote a review on this site experienced were related to the system and not to Dr Essig specifically. I would give him my highest recommedation and I have, and would put my life and my families life in his hands without reservation. I have lived in New York, California, North Carolina and Florida and have never felt so strongly about the competence and professionalism of a doctor as I have about Dr Essig.

Whoever is fortunate to find this review, please take my advice and seek a professional dr, NOT Kenneth Essig. My mother was a patient of Essig, who was extremely uncaring and unprofessional. After several months of her having the same painful symptoms, Essig finally ok'd further examining. After her 1st procedure, Essig delivered the negative findings (tumor) to us in the Check-Out area where you pay (yes, no exam room). More shockingly, while casually sharing the results with us in the Check-Out hallway, he spread cheese onto crackers and ate while sharing such news, from the beginning to the end of our conversation! Later, a 2nd extensive procedure was completed to verify the stage of it. While family and I waited anxiously in the hospital waiting room, Essig comes out. Instead of bringing us to a private room, in front of strangers, he begins to share the horrible news that my mother has a golfball sized tumor. He relayed the results very casually and swiftly, advised nothing he could do, then exited.
